Just one thing, is it possible to also unlock certain Artifact Appearances as vet/f2p, assuming you already unlocked the Artifact related to it?
Like this one here, it drops from trash in Aszuna:

I tried farming it for a bit with no success, just wondering if it's just bad luck or if it's not possible in general. Any of you collected a Artifact transmog so far? Doesn't have to be specifically this one.

Hey man, figured it would be better to ask here than making a thread about it, but would you help me? I've noticed you have the soul of the sea ring rewarded from the quest Missing Treasure in Tiragarde Sound. I checked wowhead and found out the quest starts at the "Sternly Worded Letter" in Freehold. I went there and wasn't able to start the quest nor interact with the object. Am I missing something? Do I need to do any previous quest in order to be able to interact with it?

you get an artifact appearance for completing the Legion's main story quest chains: "Pillars of Creation"

most BfA quests are in a long chain, so i am afraid you will have to go back and unlock all the links in the chain by just questing through the zone entirely.

lol I do not remember *but* most of Tiragarde Sound questing is contained within a long quest chain, especially freehold. So chances are theres a long series of pre-reqs to get to the quest in question.

I rather enjoyed BFA questing, so I didnt find it too bad and the freehold part of the series is pretty early in the line, so it shouldnt take too much to get the ring.
 
For monk artifact appearance, you can unlock the brewmaster one, and you can also unlock variants like the one that require pvp kills, legion dungeons completed, and world quests. Best part, even if the basic tint is unobtainable ( like the WW droping from a raid), you can still unlock the other variants for all the spec.

Yes there are, the shadow-pan quartermaster în the townlong steepes sells old epic valor items, but they are pretty pricey (300-600g range per item)
 
inb4 someone brings up class order hall epics you can buy.

While nothing in theory would keep the hidden appearance from dropping, I've noticed that the hidden appearances for frost mages and feral druids hinge on a quest that doesn't seem to go through for 20s. Roll up a quick druid or mage, check the pages for the hidden appearance items for a macro, and run it to see that the quest just never runs. Similarly, the guy who starts the quest for the disc priest appearance doesn't give you any meaningful dialogue.

I can confirm that the arcane mage and arms warrior appearances do drop, because I've had both of them do so for me.

BM and marks hunters obviously have theirs exist (roll a hunter and check the relevant vendors), although they require more gold than a F2P can hold. Balance druid and holy priest similarly have the vendor half of their artifacts show up, although I don't know that anyone has grinded a F2P up to exalted with any of the factions to see if the dungeon drop halves still work.

drop from Suramar outdoor trash?
Because the thing I'm wondering about is the item-level of the Arrtifacts dropped by trashmobs. The Paladin one has an item level of 45, just like the Mage trash drop I linked above, so if you actually got it to drop from Suramar trash then at least the I-level is no issue (like, the green trash I get at level 20 is i-level ~23....)

Edit: Nvm, you said Arcane Mage and not Fire.. hm
