F2P Addon

I've got a working achievement notifier addon that works with the chat. It probably needs more testing, as it's a bit hard to generate achievements to test with, but looks about ready to release (you'll need it to both send and recieve the notifications, so you can just disable it if you don't want to get/send them).



You'll all have to wait for the next update though, as I'm trying to put more into the updates, instead of just releasing every little thing as it's done, which would result in everyone having to do lots of downloads, and having different, incompatible versions from each other if they don't keep up.



One of the features I'm trying to get added is a version check, to make sure people know when someone else is using a newer version, as well as a way to notify people new to the channel that they can't actually use it to talk, and will need some addons to 'opt-in' to the whisper-chat.

Any chance your invite addon will replace the default invite option in menus? That or some kind of invite interface would be neat.

but didnt figured out how i can write to everyone it do add everyone to f list and remove them when they leave the f2pchatroom

maybe i didnt understood something in the description since my english isnt that good?

You talk to other people using the "F2Ptwink" channel. (By default, mine is always set to channel 5). You just talk in the channel, as you normally would if you weren't limited by the restrictions of a trial account. However, make sure your channel is enabled so you can see the channel, and the people talking in it. Just right click on the General tab on your chat window, then settings, then global channels, and make sure that the F2Ptwink channel is enabled (check the box if it isnt). After that you should be able to see the channel chat. I wasn't sure if this is what you needed help with, but it seems like it. I hope that helps!

What did Blizz do to break the addon? Was it on purpose?
 
Idk if said, but a change log would be nice.
 
problem with update

well if u have p2p friends u want to keep and u have the updated addon with the f2pchat it gives your non f2p friends pst of what u say in f2p channel.

I think it's using whispers now instead : /



But yeah, maybe you should add like "@" to remain friends with someone and you whisper him with addon. "@@" they wont get a whisper from the channel, but they will remain friends (for example high lvl friends).
 
I've done another update, so you can add a '-' to the start of someone's notes to exclude them from channel messages. Bear in mind though that having any note makes someone a permanent friend, that F2PChannelToFriend won't remove when they log off.
 
IMPORTANT



Blizzard have not disabled anything for F2Ps.



What they have done in the latest patch is re-enable a function called RegisterAddonMessagePrefix() (was added in a 4.something, then disabled because it wasn't working). It wasn't documented widely so I didn't even know to use it. Without the addon registering it's prefix with the server, your WoW client wouldn't recieve anything that was still being sent.



1.0.6 returns to the old method of sending, with clients correctly registering themselves with the server to recieve messages from other people's copies of the addon.



You have me being a multiboxer to thank for finding this out. I'd never have noticed if I wasn't running my multiboxing addon (I'm only doing PvE. Healer + tank ;) ).
 
You're a god among mortals here, Yasueh. We really do owe you so much, for basically creating the tools that make a community out of a bunch of individuals. I mean it, thank you so much for your continued work!
