Thoughts on ele shams?

Not even gonna argue spike.. If people are complaining about how OP hunts are and not about how OP eles are they have either not seen a good ele or they are yet another person singling out hunters.

There are 2 problems with Hunter vs Shaman.

1) Like 90% of the bracket already have geared hunters, so 'rerolling' is easier

2) It's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY easier to faceroll and top dmg as a hunter than do so on a shaman. As for skillcap, I do agree, hunter has a high skillcap (which got lowered with the recent changes) but shaman has double the skillcap either way because you have to juggle around offhealing, purging, interrupting, not dying, doing damage while being focused on the objective, whereas a hunter has to do only 2 things, keep his head on the keyboard for dmg and maybe throw in a scatter/pet stun every now and then. I agree with you saying, that Fulmination is a really good ability that ads a lot of burst/pressure but don't you think elemental shamans deserve this? They weren't as good as hunters for almost 2 years, now they can shine a bit, even with the head-to-keyboard-rerollers you'll see popping up that know only to lb x7 and earth shock.

1) yes I know.. I've already seen some of the older hunts come out from hiding.

2) A hunt has to try not to die and focus on objective so why were those listed for shammy and not hunt? That's not rly important just something I noticed how you worded it... Fulm wasn't needed either btw. Ele sham was plenty good enough in 5.2 (middle ground) and with that buff and kiting they are now really strong/topping dmg. Samething as hunts. We were middle ground in 5.2 and now with this gear scaling buff we are really strong/topping dmg. I think ele and hunt could have both stayed where they were in 5.2 and not gotten any buffs and would still be strong with this atmosphere atm.

Also when you can actually form some kind of counter other then a vid of someone laughing while quoting something from me that is true I may reply spike.

I like eles being at the top and it is nice to see a new face up here with me on the OPness lol.. All those pallies and druids got boring seeing :/ Not complaining at all and I actually like ele like this cause it will potentially make the rerollers better by trying to figure out how to play one.

A shaman is all about control in PvP, not necessarily topping the charts. Dispelling, purging, windshearind, flame shocking rogues, earth shocking any melee for that nasty debuff. Control.... I am never on the top of damage or healing charts. But I bet I have the most dispells.

Sweetsydney...

I REALLY wish enh would get get buffed to it's former glory in cata... In the mean time ele will suffice as a nice change.

From a 24 elemental's PoV elementals are probably a bit over the top now.

Elementals were already really strong at 24 pre buffs, they shouldnt have the damage output we do now with the utlity we bring. though for f2ps i can see that its a really needed buff.
Hopefully elementals somewhat complexity will stop too many 24s rerolling.

As somebody who has just played a hell of a lot of BIS Ele shaman and near-bis hunter, I can say that whilst you are right on some points in this thread, hunters are incredibly more "OP" than Elemental shamans.
Everything about hunters are OP, from my own experience on a horde hunter which obviously has a disadvantage over your alliance hunter, really the only thing "OP" about Ele's are LB+Fulm crits which can hit very hard, but the likelihood of getting all of that to crit is miniscule, (With BIS crit set) not to mention the buildup for that is a VERY long time... While hunters can just spam huge burst constantly
So yeah, while some of what you said is right, you can't compare Ele with SV hunter right now. The damage/burst is just too insane to comprehend...

Edit: Also, when you mentioned that hunters had to be careful to stay alive and focus objectives, you don't play an Ele so you wouldn't know, but Ele has to do that just as much IF NOT MORESO than hunters. The mobility of hunters is so much with post-haste, and not all shamans have rocket jump, so I consider myself lucky. (Also Ele sham heals are pathetic and almost nothing when you're getting pounded on by even just one competent dps.

Also a side-note, I respect what you said in the last paragraph :)

Hunter was UP in 5.0.4. middle in 5.1. Godlike in the right hands in 5.2 and are now OP.

Is it time? Are we gonna go through the prophecied, but long forgotten "World of Shamancraft?" lol

Leaning more towards OP than UP obviously. Main point is you won't find me at LM anymore. There will be more ele shams playing and in AB even the good ones go LM and can't resist the urge to send people flying.

Honestly, I don't find anything wrong with the current shaman. I don't find them UP or OP. I think they're in a good spot.
