What's your logic behind it *necessarily* being level 20? I'd love to hear it.
I actually have a few reasons (sorry if it’s a bit messy, writing from my phone)
1. From a business standpoint it looks bad to lower the starter edition or free trial level cap even if there is a level squish, it would just make them look greedy.
2. Level 1-10 in Shadowlands will be a lot faster than what level 1-20 currently is, instead of it taking like 4 hours for a new player to level from 1-20, it will instead take that player maybe 1 hour 30 min to level from 1-10, the new player won’t have enough time to learn all the mechanics before they are max level, and they most likely won’t stick around if they can’t keep leveling due to the cap, and they won’t buy the game if they havn’t had time to understand all mechanics.
3. Level 10 lack spells, a lot of ”core” abilities are missing, just like mentioned above new players won’t be able to get a good feel for the class and know if its worth buying the game.
The only reason starter edition or free trial exist, is to convince new players to test the game and eventually buy it, level 20 gives more content and has better class balance than 10. At the same time, they won’t gain any ”amazing” thing that for example normal players could exploit by having multiple accs without game time, so there really is no reason to actually change it to 10.
4. This is my favorite and just a lil bonus, currently on the ptr
https://ptr.wowhead.com/achievement=10657/fledgling-hero-of-warcraft requires level 20, even tho a lot of achievement levels has already been changed, this one has stayed the same. There is no way Blizzard is gonna force people to get game time to get this Hearthstone card, whatever this achievement says, will be our cap.
(sry if this makes no sense, like I said im on phone and just writing down my thoughts on the matter)
