SL Guide and FAQs

WHEN it becomes a problem tho, people don't stop playing hunter. You will get all your little gems and just Aimed shot people for 90% and then continue to ruin shit. Maybe you individually are different, I don't know you, but unfortunatly most hunters fall under the "bro" category I clearly laid out. Obviously this is just a mindless rant as I can't control Blizzard and I can't control Bro-tards, but I can still whine about shit like a crazy nut job.

Also keep in mind I did make a distinction between Hunters and people who abuse hunter just to be shitty.

Hunter is just the class that always benefits the most from stat imbalance... ranged zero cost nukes and 100% mobility... it is a child class matched only by druid... and really druid is only on par when we have an xpac like the one we are just leaving where int stacking is nuts AND they have the correct abilities... in SL their power is way down regardless of what they gem. I'm not talking about some nerd flag running with free action potions either, I'm talking about just pub stomping (90% of actual twinking).
Hopefully I'm not in the Bro-tard category ;)
Real Hunters let their pets do the talking..........
I do hear ya. I'm a Hunter and I can't stand glass cannon MM's. You get 1 or 2 in a bg with a heals and they start d!ck swinging to see who's got the biggest......... Aimed Shot....... :p

Hot knife through butter is a good representation of how soloable dungeons are on PTR
Some bosses in some dungeons are quite difficult. There's a boss in a WoD dungeon that just nukes ya.
Are you referring to Shat or Legion geared twinks soloing, or genuine ilvl 14 & 15 geared toons?
I found some bosses quite tough at 10, but that's with normal gear. But I wasn't doing it on a healer or off-heals class, so maybe on heals it's a lot easier.

Legion dungeons are soloable once you get iLvl 44 geared. A number of classes will struggle to solo legion dungeons with ilvl 14 gear, but if you have any sort of self sustain you'll be fine. Violet Hold (conveniently located in Legion Dalaran) is a good place to start.

If you can buy ilvl 28 gear (shatt) you'll be fine, as well.

Since it sounds like a hunter’s expansion...what scopes/enchants are available for 10s to apply?

For other classes, is EF still king?

Id just wait, if you can't pvp for a month because all of this complete bull shit actually makes it into the live game, which is EXTREMELY doubtful... then you can just go get it. I would not bust your balls too hard during prepatch unless you really have no job and just play wow 24 hours a day.

As much as blizzard does not like twinking I doubt they are going to let people be 10x as good as levelers in a BG. It's bad now, but not as bad as people with gemmed out nonsense, etc.

I have a question about the upcoming expansion which may help others.

For no good reason other than it gives me options, I've been saving several containers on my Level 20 veteran Resto Druid until Shadowlands goes live.

My question is, should I open them now or after Shadowlands?

Following Chops' advice, I've tried to answer my own question. (First time on PTR!) Here's what I found on my Resto Druid for the following iLevel 14 items:

Int & Stam always 2. Crit, Has, Vers always 1 (& Agi greyed as 2 if applicable) on:
Tumultuous Necklace of the Aurora, Fireflash, Quickblade
Tumultuous Cloak of the Aurora, Fireflash, Quickblade
Vigorous Bracers of the Aurora, Fireflash, Quickblade
Tumultuous Ring of the Aurora, Fireflash, Quickblade

Int always 2 & Stam always 3. BUT Crit, Has & Vers can be 1 or 3 OR both 1 (& Agi always greyed as 2) on:
Vigorous Belt of the Aurora, Fireflash, Quickblade
Vigorous Stompers of the Aurora, Fireflash, Quickblade
Vigorous Handguards of the Aurora, Fireflash, Quickblade

I didn't have many, as I've sold them to keep bag space, but these seem to be the same as those I had in my bags or void storage (28 items), where I've always kept one of everything in each variation of stats as space allows. Hoping this policy of never vendoring anything even vaguely potentially useful pays off at last...

All the other containers seemed to contain the same things.

So on balance I'll probably wait to open everything, since (if what I read on this site is correct) while the assumption is that we'll be capped at Level 10, it's still not 100% certain.

Hope that helps someone - probably not.

I'm not entirely sure it will be a hunter's expansion, even if everything on the PTR makes it into live. Acknowledging that hunters appear to be extremely powerful, here are some reasons why they might not be as dominant as they have been in the past (cata / mop).

1. They do not have Concussive Shot. Wing Clip requires a strong commitment from the Hunter to keep the target slowed, which would be extremely counter-intuitive if they're wanting to use their 60 yard range as MM.

2. Healing is *extremely* strong. Rdruid with iLvl 44 gear / 48 weapon heals for 100 ticks of Rejuvenation, and 1100 Regrowth crits (45% crit, 20% haste, 25% vers, 70% mastery). Holy Paladin heals for 2400 Word of Glory crits on an ally in melee range (similar stats). I haven't even tested some of the other healers, but Holy Priest, Resto Shaman, and Mistweaver all look promising as well.

3. Armor is extremely good at reducing physical damage. Way better than it feels on live - I'm not sure why, but I'd guess it's just how super high iLvl gear functions on players. Duels feel somewhat buggy (one player will always tend to miss even with the same ilvl), but damage seems somewhat balanced (and intuitive if you consider all the factors) between players. A 1200 aimed shot on a boss will likely be a 600 aimed shot on a plate class.

4. Death Knights. They will likely be very popular right off the bat, just because they get so many cool toys. Their damage is very lackluster compared to some of the other brawl classes (Arms can actually grind a healer down in iLvl 44 / 49 wep, DK can never kill a healer solo), but their utility is bar-none. They are a pretty neat counter to a lot of what Hunters are trying to do. Even having Death Grip outranged by MM, they can "push" hunters back just with the threat of it. And yes, Disengage still exists - but Disengage doesn't send you 60 yards back. The hunter is still within range of warrior charge, spell caster damage, etc. Anti-Magic Shell also completely counters Freezing Traps.

5. Trinkets. There are some absolutely amazing trinkets that widen class viability. They tend to be best for melee classes and healers, with many of the ranged options just being slight damage increases. For example, a rogue opening on a hunter. The hunter can trinket Cheap Shot, but will have to deal with a 50% slow immediately. If they disengage, rogues have sprint and the hunter is still slowed.

curious to know what class all you hunter haters are actually playing? Unless it’s in your sig, I can’t see that in app.

Man up and let us know for counter argument sake.

At least you can los a hunter. Nothing more frustrating than dying to missiles around a corner. For me healers that can do better damage than a lot of specs is also more ridiculous.

Tanks take more damage in PVP so I can’t understand why healers can’t have the same rules apply to them with reduced output, no reason why they need to be able to be good at both in PvP.

It's also annoying my Holy does almost the DMG of my Ret and is by far tankier than Prot and can heal a lot more.
Hunter is good but I can stand my ground against them, especially considering with Plate and self heal I am kind of geared to fight one. It is annoying though to try and do anything with Resto Druids or Shamans, considering that from my experience the First can go to well over 2k (Some from my experience even to 3k) HP in travel form.

If the format is just too much HP and not enough damage, which to me looks like its happening REAL fast... then I'm all for flooding the format with Aimed Shot to deal with that nerd shit... I'd rather have a format ruined with DPS than with terrible unkillable kids acting like its their skills and not just super heals/hp pools.

I'd love to play spell hancement, but if my global is 300-400 dps and somebody has 3k hp and heals... it is completely worthless. You are gonna need one button kids doing global 2k to deal with heals... bring them in.

Damned if you do Damned if you don't.

I don't agree
