Replacing the old Code of Conduct with a New Twink Charter

I think it may appear this way because mods respond mostly to reports. If something is reported, it's reviewed and likely acted on. If it's not reported, it may be missed by a mod. I could see this appearing like the mods are being unfair, but it's more likely that attention was brought to one issue and not another.

Exactly....

It is not as if the moderators can sift through each and every post on the site. They have to rely on us for reporting.
Unfortunately, the reporting option gets abused by many users. Some people "report" a post simply because they either A. don't like the post. B. The post differs from their opinion. C. Don't like the person making the post. Often the report has nothing to do with a violation of the CoC.

As of right now moderators respond to reports, and serious offenses they stumble upon while balancing that with bracket autonomy and culture.

What alley said above, this comment is 100% correct as well.

I think if more people used the report function there would be a a higher standard on this website

What is a serious offense?

It's okay for us to tell each other to slit our own wrists and call each other cunts right? Because due to the complete disregard in the enforcement of the CoC by the moderation, it's known and accepted that in the current state it is 100% allowed and supported by the TI staff for us to act this way towards each other.

Minimalist boundaries allow for the greatest range of creativity. No gore/porn(sfw), no real world threats/spam(obvious). Give Mod to clowns and make intervention prominent. Give people a laugh out one liners and "memes" that should always highlight a Moderator's response. It doesn't have to be so bloody serious, this is a game, make the maintenance fun. You could even give people the opportunity to be Mod temporarily and gauge the reaction from their role. For fun! Hell, even allowing for a voting system for users to take action upon their own ranks could be utilized. Not so much reporting(tattling) as forming a vigilante mob. All in good fun of course. Just make sure you can trust the jokers you have running around with hammers :)

A containment board for free-for-all posting is an EXCELLENT idea. In the same vein, an option for uber G-rating enforcement also deserves a place. Both extremes have value and deserve respect. Make the structure fluid and harmonious. Allow for all personality types to be comfortable contributing. People will be less inclined to behave as busy-bodies sticking their noses in business that doesn't concern them if they have a sandbox to play in.

Things have improved dramatically, despite the complaints from those of us who are more sensitive than others. I agree with making the "rules" black and white and any disciplines clearly defined. There should not be any grey areas regarding lengthy/permanent bans. But the majority of pruning should be grey, completely discretionary and hilarious! Backing that up with gentle repercussions will nurture a healthy and cohesive community. Charisma, a sense of humor and common sense is what I would look for in your position.

Bottom line the site was better with Shane. Myrm obviously has no experience in this area of work otherwise people would not be complaining this much, it all falls back on the leader (Myrm) so if he was actually dumb enough to spend his life savings on this site he wasted it imo.

No shit more people complain now, everyone who complained under Shane's ownership got banned.

I was asked not to use the report feature anymore .-.

You care to back up those assertions? Shane was afk and farmed ad money.

The site either needs to have a blatantly clear set of rules and they need to be enforced exactly how they are written or there needs to be no moderation. There is no discussion of corrupt actions if the CoC clearly reads "if you do _____ you get ______" and that exact event occurs. Consistency is key as all of these subjective gray areas result in members receiving varried results. Cut out all of the interpretation.

You can say whatever you want but the chances that this will be achieved are slim to none.

Just look at the American legal system and political jurisprudence. At the end of the day there are going to be other factors like the moderator's personal views that influence the decisions/infractions that they hand out.

And don't try to act like your actions as a moderator reflect this vision. Stubs getting 2 infractions for calling someone bad and another similar action while plenty of other people making worse insults without receiving any infractions or warnings is not consistency at all. It just shows that your decisions were largely influenced by your personal vendettas.

Stubs actually got 2 infractions within 20 minutes for that =^]

On topic: Do not write another CoC that goes like "Breaking rule X gives exactly an Y-week ban", it doesn't work. There needs to be a difference between "idiot" and "kill yourself". You can't treat both equally as insults and hand out 2 week bans.

There's a reason why no one has "liked" any of the posts you have said in this thread... But I'll let you figure that out.

lmao, what is this? Instagram?

This is the most ignorant comment I've ever read on this website. I don't mean that as an insult, literally you must be unaware of a great many facts in regards to the harm Shane caused this community to believe something so outstandingly out of touch.

Myrm bought this site because of his passion, that and that alone is worth whatever he wants it to be.

People are being more vocal because myrms leadership has empowered them to have a say without fear of reproccusions, this has been evident since week one of myrms administration. You seem to be confusing this with something a bit more negative.

I am at a loss for words as to how anyone who gives one fuck can feel this way.

See now this I'm against... If the CoC isn't black and white, it's only going to lead to worlds of biased interpretation. I DO AGREE that "idiot" and "kill yourself" shouldn't be given the same punishment, however in the past we drew the line at vulgar words or threats in attempt to make a distinguishable line.

IF THERE IS TO BE A NEW TEXT OF ORDER: There needs to be a fine line that is distinguishable beyond doubt that if one action is taken, they will receive _______ and it needs to be respected by all moderators and the community alike. I don't want to see a CoC where some mods will deliver the given punishment and other mods will initiate a warning for the same offense. If the CoC says "do x and you will be banned" and if a lenient moderator gives someone a warning, this is publicly showing the community that "do x and if Moderator B reads the report, you will maybe get a warning but if Moderator F reads the report, you will be banned"

I still am voting for no moderators nor CoC. Obviously Broken or Superstylin could easily delete any NSFW pictures (as you're lucky if you see one of those every 2 weeks) and they can absolutely handle any thread moving that needs to be done. The community has been vocal about free reign and since we're very clearly not looking for partnership with Blizzard, I don't see why there's a ceiling on behavior simply to have one.

I think warnings are important to helping people understand they made a mistake. I think a certain number of warnings should happen before a user is infracted. Then a certain number of infractions before a temp ban. Then a certain number of temp bans before permanent ban. Permabans should really only happen if absolutely necessary, as they can hurt a community.
