If I understand correctly there’s no xp in bgs (once they have bgs in Classic).

So does that mean I can turn off xp and quest etc…is there an xp off npc like there is in retail?

If I have my xp turned off can I get into regular bgs with levelers?

I have several 29s and 49s on my main account and a twinked out 20 on my unsubed account and I’m considering transferring one or more to Classic.

    XP off does not exist

You plan your leveling according to the gear you need from quests.

You play with levelers, as you are also a leveler. No XP Off exists.

There is no xp off in classic. Queues are not split. BGs don't give exp. Quest don't scale, so you don't wait until 19 to do them.

So you have a limited set of exp. Explore early on, get lots of flight points. STV, Felwood, gadgetzan, all the main questing/wpvp zones. You can get run through dungeons while dead (go in, die to mobs, roll on loot). Know all the quests you're gonna want to do and do them as early as possible (lots of the barrens can be done starting at 10 for example).

Are there experience gains in Alterac Valley (Battleground)?
Say, I kill a ram, or the enemy factions boss, will I gain experience?

I think you would gain XP from that. However, AV isn't available until... I think lvl 50 or 51 in Vanilla. Hard to remember. It's not really a place for twinks.

Also, DaQbet, you can't transfer modern characters to Classic. You'll need to level from scratch like everyone else.

NPCs grant XP in AV, as do the one-time quests.

My Druid, Claws is only lvl 16 :\
Had a full weekend of no WoW... none :(
Got on tonight to get some 430 gear for one of my 120s and ended up yapping on skype for too long :(
Kinda regretting starting Classic with a Druid but I'll push on till I get cat form and see how it all goes. He may end up just picking flowers and mining ore. Next up will be a Mage :D

Druid is indeed painful to level. There's a clear hybrid tax going on at the early levels. My mage was just rolling through mobs, only pausing to drink.

One important aspect to be aware of regarding exp is quest chains. In particular is Seal of Wrynn. It's a long one with a lot of mob killing culminating in a dungeon run. You can start it at L16 fortunately.

As many people have mentioned: Experience Eliminators were not introduced for some time, so they are absent from WoW Classic, you have to be very careful with your experience gain.

The other thing is, that you absolutely CAN NOT (and SHOULD NOT) ever transfer characters from Retail to Classic.

Playing for a bit reminded me: Vanilla clearly played favorites with certain class/spec combos in certain situations. In PvP you might be able to do different things, but raid gear only really supported one specialty, and the bias was there subtly elsewhere. I think TBC is when the field really started to open up and lots of different specs and hybrids took off.

Yes. The class design philosophy was alot different back then.

TBC and Wrath was when they really started to design away from needing specific classes and specs. "Bring the player, not the class" was a big push mid TBC and through wrath.

Careful planning is the key. I would suggest not soulbinding your gear until you are completely done. There is a very good possibility of leveling out of your chosen bracket.
Do all your exploring at a low level. I mean ALL of it! This is XP you won’t gain when you are questing at higher levels.
When doing reward quests always group up with as many others as possible.
Plan your path carefully and know how much XP you will gain.
Do not log out in an Inn or a city. You don’t need nor want the rested bonus while you are gearing.

Unless we get some nice guides on here by some very dedicated people like we used to have more than likely people will go over.

I have looked on the waybackmachine to see if I could find the “int gear” hunter guide I made “back in the day”. Alas, it is nowhere to be found.

    /cheers

To touch on this, as it's the most important aspect of Classic Twinking, you need to be methodical with you XP gains from the creation screen on. There are many long Chain Quests in Classic that give a reward (after say 14 Quests, all that give XP) that you shouldn't be wearing for another 10 levels. GETTING that item without pushing over can be anything from tricky to impossible.

Also on favoritism in Classic, Blizzard clearly favorites Horde at super low levels for Twinking (even if unintentional). The Quest rewards available to Horde from Quests that open at LvL 9 are stupidly OP compared to Alliance of the same level. TBC helped this by adding a couple BiS items from Alliance Quests but Horde is the clear winner.

If you're not mentally retarded then twinking is easy in classic. 19s and potentially 29s agility wearers are the only ones that face difficulty. Explore early, complete quests as soon as they're available and dont kill extra mobs/complete extra quests and you're fine.

The only reason bobieber has difficulties is because he is, in fact, mentally retarded.

Probs obvious to most but get boosted through dungeons and quests and stay as ghost so you get kills and loot but no xp. For a period of time you could die, logout as ghost, log in, travel to another gy and res there. Great way to avoid xp, not sure if it was a thing in vanilla tho.
