FC - Pagle
I am currently working on obtaining this weapon with my level 85 Shaman, jwlo. I've successfully completed a few parts of the legendary chain, up to the quest, Through a Glass, Darkly.
Where the mobs in this quest are a little harder than average, they can be countered with some kiting. Once Tarecgosa & I become face to face with Thyrinar, that's when I experience problems.
This fight is testing my patience, and throughout the 10 years I have played this game, I've never, ever encountered anything as challenging as this.
Thyrinar hits between 14-17k damage every 2.5 seconds with Twilight blast, which translates to about 47-55% of my shamans health pool. This ability can be silenced, But the cooldown on wind shear cant keep up with it. To make matters worse, He summons mobs that deal moderate damage & will silence you: so you have to coordinate every spell cast you do and attempt to Juke these spell-locks. (Which actually can be done)
Once you deal a fair amount of damage to the boss, he will use an ability called Twisting twilight which is a nice break to regenerate mana (you will quickly go OOM trying to heal), and not have to worry about taking insane amounts of damage for about 15 seconds. All you have to do is kite the beam that follows you on the floor.
This ability doesn't cause much trouble to me, as I am a shaman and can dispel, but it is worth mentioning given that if it isn't dispelled, the boss will heal at a rate greater than your damage output can keep up with. Twilight restoration is a buff Thyrinar cast on himself which restores 3,000 health and 1,000 mana per second & reduces damage taken by 50%.
These 3 abilities (theoretically, only Twilight blast) are what makes this fight so difficult. Even being near full BIS, having heroism and overpowered consumables, this fight is extremely challenging in modern WoW. Back in Cataclysm players had 160k health, dealt WAY more DPS than 85s do now, and Thyrinar only hit slightly harder (Twilight blast was hitting for about 19ks in cataclysm compared to the 14-17ks now).
I've had over 30 attempts with this fight so far. I've tried Restoration, Elemental and enhancement, nothing budges. Maybe on a Disc priest or Warlock this could be a tad easier, but it for sure is a challenge on Shaman.
I've spoken with a game master in regards of this Quest, and he had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. He thought this was some sort of scaling issue and claimed that this LEGENDARY QUEST CHAIN is now level 58 content...Which makes absolutely no sense because not only do legendary quest not scale, but Cataclysm content is not available until like level 78 lol.
Has anyone successfully completed this quest in either WOD or Legion as a level 85? The damage done/damage taken ratio was nerfed extremely hard, and I'd appreciate any advice that could potentially help me with this.
