US Any 85 twinks around?

I have the staff on my mage main (120) it does not proc for him. Tested at both 110 during prepatch and 120 a few days ago.

Also, Shadowmourne > Guth > Weapons with 3 sockets > Sunlute = any rare/epic of the same level range.

I believe the legendary staff proc rate either degrades gradually or drops off completely at a certain level. I've got about 4 more Firelands runs to go until I have it on my 89 druid. I'll post results after I get it.

Please let us know if it is possible for non-healing class to obtain. If the staff works good in PvP, I would level my mage from 79, coz I dont play him anymore.

I couldn't tell you. The difficult part of the quest chain is:

https://www.wowhead.com/quest=29194/through-a-glass-darkly#comments

There's a boss at the last part of that quest you have to solo. It's extremely difficult and always has been. The boss spams a shadowbolt thingy and it will literally two shot you. I had to spec resto just to stay alive and it was a real struggle. It took me like 20 attempts until I got it.

From what I read in the comments of the quest it looks like it is different for each class. Sounds like mages, for example, can spell steal a shield off the boss. So maybe you can do it. Just don't expect it to be easy. And if it is possible for a mage keep in mind that you may have to change your spec to give yourself more survivability to be able to do it.

Just a thought looking at mage talents. Maybe you can use the Mana Shield talent as arcane to spam a shield to protect you from the boss. When you run out of mana you get a buff that restores your Mana and gives you a crap ton of haste. So I feel like you could have 100% uptime on your Mana Shield. Even with that though I feel like the boss would still be hitting you for 1k-2k per shadowbolt thingy. You'd probably still have to do something to heal yourself. Maybe bandages and healing pots would be enough... Maybe.

Also, I never considered shadow resist gear. If shadow resist gear still works that might be just the thing you need. If you can cut the damage of his twilight bolt by 25-50% you might not even take any damage at all with your Mana Shield up.

Hit 85 earlier today, was lucky in Dragon Soul and obtained 73% of my BIS gear. Any activity going on? It'd be nice to see a comeback.

I'll be running Dragon Soul / Firelands every Tuesday if anyone is interested in tagging along. Just no loot competition :p

I just recently started playing again so I would love to get help on how/what to update my gear and gems to.
My btags are: Balroy#1623 and Balroy#1109

I would love to come along to raids to re learn how to play my classes. Also is there an 80 bracket community group to join?

https://xpoff.com/threads/dragonswrath-tarecgosas-end-is-impossible-now.78100/ This thread I made months ago describes my experience with "Through a glass darkly". Was by far the hardest quest I have encountered in this game.

I'll be sure to add you @Balroy

Yeah I remember reading that. I'm really wondering if shadow resist gear would be helpful now. It's relatively much better now since the BfA stat squish. The only real question is if magic resist gear actually does anything or not anymore. I got some fire resist gear I'm going to try out in the Firelands tonight. If that works out than shadow resist gear should work too.

I mean - is there even good enough shadow resist gear in this levels???
And yeah, I have no problem with learning new talents or theorycrafting :D so I would like to obtain it after reading @jwl ´s thread. Maybe being 89 and getting eng trinkets would give me advantage. Who knows.

The quest may not even be difficult now with the huge stat squish. Have to consider that as well.

Oh, no. Trust me. It's still very difficult. I did it after the BfA patch.

Looks to me that there is some pretty decent shadow resist cloth gear.

Might be a bit of a pain to obtain if you don't have tailoring or an alt with tailoring, but it's probably worth it if magic resist still works.

So I tried some fire resist gear last night. I dipped myself in some lava on my 89 druid and it did about 1100 damage consistently. Threw on my fire resist gear and it was doing around 650-850 damage. Probably about 700 on average. And I didn't have max fire resist, but close to it. So I'd say that pretty much confirms that magic resist still works even though it's not on your character sheet.

So you're probably looking at around 40-50% average damage reduction from shadow resist gear. So as an arcane mage you can probably reduce that 5,000 damage twilight bolt to around 500 damage or less with your Mana Shield. Maybe you can even negate it completely.

In my professional opinion I'd say it's probably possible to get the legendary staff as a level 85-89 mage if you have shadow resist gear.

Mages honestly shouldn't have much of a problem with this quest. Just spellsteal the dragons buff that heals for 3k health/mana per second and you should be fine. Only thing you'd have to worry about would be juking the silences and dodging the beams tbh. Just my thoughts, I did it as a Restoration shaman.
