World Drop Farming Compendium (ilvl 28 BoEs)

I feel like the golden level for weapons is level 17 or 18. For classic zones.

Just anecdotally, I had two epic weps drop for level 20 in the botanica (TBC dungeon) and both were ilvl 23 as well.

Hand of Edward of Odd maybe ? Skull Flame Shield for the memes ?
Both of those are classified as weapons, so they go by the same rules. Seems like theres a bunch of confirmations that 20 is not the way to go for useable weapon epics. I know for a fact that classic boe blues weapons droo at 20 most of them ilevel 27. Armor drop at level 18. And with ilevel 25. Thats all that ive noticed so far atleast.

So i think the next course of action is to spam tbc dungeons as level 17 or 18 if you link weapons from wowhead they get req level 18 by doing that

how do we explain i28 classic blue weaps? Anyone have any infos? Because for example I have a few i27 zealot blades and soulkeepers staves. The soulkeeper i28 that I have has more stats than the i27 one. It’s a pretty good item so it’s worth asking, could influence a decision on whether I would use it or not. I think someone was alluding to it being a GFd scale. Basically a pre-SL one. Like the level 19 Hand of Ed.

you can also click items from the appearance tab to get the scaling. Anyone who clicks an item linked from the appearance journal will see a level scaled tooltip for their level. I don’t have a level 21 at the moment to look at things

Well, all blue items ive seen drop from containers and mobs. Has been ilevel 27 or less. Sadly so keep good carw of those ilevel 28s. I dont know for sure. But thats how it seems to be. Correct me if im wrong. I have had enough drops to know that atleast in classic. Weapons req 20. Ilevel 27.
Armor req 18 ilevel 25.

Just wanted to confirm before starting the grind... so essentially pick one of these places and grind grind grind, at which point I will 'eventually' get all ilvl 28 BoE pieces, as well as the ones I want (Harmonious for example)?

Mix it up some on zones to grind. As each one drops specific labeled rings and trinkets that are unique-equipped (if you're going for two ilvl 28 rings). Example: Azurewing ring or Stormwing ring.

Yes! It is to be noted, however, that not every item slot can drop from these pigs. Looking at their loot tables / from my own experience after farming them for a few days, they dont drop rings or neck BoE's (mentioned in OP, just reiterating! :)). You also get a LOT of ilvl 29 BoE weapons, which are for level 22.

Be warned some legion pieces druing invasion that drop are soulbound. If the armor does not look like legion questing gear its soulbound

Typically the soulbound items are specifically named and have no suffix attatched. Looks like Nightsfall Gauntlets transmog set for plate users, idk for mail, leather, or cloth.

1. Can a level 24 character of one armor type farm level 28 items of another armor type? For example, can a hunter be used to farm for plate?

1. What iLVL would those BOPs be if you got them on a level 20?

Drop type is random so you cant really farm for just a specific type, so very yes. Unless the type is not on the loot table.

Example being, I believe people here have said Drustvar mobs dont drop cloth armor, or something to that end.

Its like same ilvl as greens you get from quests/dungeons. Cant remember if they drop for your lvl or not though. They can proc gems/tert, but the low ilvl kinda makes them pointless to go after.

I noticed in the AH some iLVL 28 plate that only requires level 19.

3. Are there any differences between iLVL 28 armor which requires level less than 20 and that which requires level 20? I would guess the armor with the higher level requirement would be better, but have nothing by which to compare for verification.

I was curious about item levels of Blue / Epic drops from Classic Zones so took a high level and a 25 to my favorite farming spot in a Vanilla zone. It left more questions than answers ..

The only Blue items I looted were on the level 50 - so no results.

The 25 got an Epic Staff drop, which caught me out completely as it had a level requirement of 26 ! So I'm more confused than ever .... I'll link the item after work.

Edit Confused Item Level and Required Level - Should have been Level 26 Req - Item level 31

Where did you loot it? Was the mob that dropped the item previously level 63-66?

All the green armor BoE's are level 19 ilevel 28 from the Legion / Bfa Zones - never seen anything else.

doesn't matter if you farm on a 24 or 25 both get Level 19 required i28 - Weapons are the only differences

to clear things up:
your character level (clvl) doesn't directly effect the drops' item level (ilvl), it's the mob's level that scales it. (it just so happens that your clvl effects the mob's level)
that's why lvl 20 toons can still loot 19/28s in Drustvar/Nazmir, because the mobs are a minimum level of 25.

side note:
i recently made a level 22 farmer to farm mobs around Zuldazar/Tirigard for 19/25 weapons/shields (this is only really useful for hpals who have shield fomo from using the 2H artifact Holy is stuck with).
