Trial Twinking, R.I.P.

It is totally different with WoW. In order to play it, you can just download it and thats all. No need for a purchase.

Ofc it's totally different, I don't see why even comparing it with a computer, but that was the example given.

And no, you don't need to purchase, but you don't need to level to 20 and gear, you don't need to enchant, you don't need boas or fancy mounts from a linked account. You don't need titles gotten with the help of a p2p or msg a GM to get your BoA out of the mail.
We don't need to do any of that but people still chose to do it. And it's been like that for years now. Restrictions don't need to be so if you change the word to possibilities.
It all comes down to your decision. You choose to play at 20, you choose not to pay a monthly fee. The only ones tying f2ps are f2ps themselves.
Veteran accounts just give us another possibility. At the end of the day the definition is reduced to paying to play. To play. Not pay to win or pay to group or pay to gear or pay to send love letters through the mail.
My 2 cents.

Applying Kincaide logic, once I've paid my $15 at the start of the month, I don't have to pay again for the rest of the month, therefore I'm playing for free & I'm a f2p.

That makes perfect sense, I'm glad he was here to clear that up for me, I was so confused b4.

Sorry you are confused by a one time cost and a recurring one... maybe this will help Variable Cost & Fixed Cost - Economics

Your fixed cost is the cost of a battle chest. It's a one time sunk cost paid regardless if you are a p2p or a veteran.
Your variable cost would be the monthly subscription. If you graphed months on the x axis and cost on the y axis you would see the battle chest is a flat line and your monthly sub is a linear slope. Hopefully that helps.

Ok but which of your graphs shows that when you pay for something it is free?

That's the whole point... idk what people are saying here.

Some people think that if they USE money for their account, it can still be considered F2P because no sub.

Like what the hell. OPEN YOUR EYES! You freaking PAY for it. -.-

So... according to that logic your account can't be f2p 'cause you used someone else's help (p2p) to get into raids not intended for you. And achievs and posibly titles...
Or it doesn't count if it's not YOUR money.
If I ask my mom to pay my account, since it's not my money, am I still f2p?

--Edit--
I agree with Crystalpall, play how you like

I really hope that enough people will keep their true starter account status. It was and still is a great way to show that even in heavily business driven corporations like A-B are niches to find which allow for alternative approaches. Fully loomed and enchanted veteran account players can't honestly argue that they are going to do it to boost f2ps power against full account players, it's quite the opposite - they will become the p2p ally and a new and overpowered "enemy" to starters.
And not to be a tinfoil hat wearer, but I honestly think that this is a well thought move by Blizzard to push people away from playing and enjoying their starter accounts: "Just keep it cheap enough and get a good bunch of them hooked on, they will take the bait, harr!" Not arguing that this is not legitimate, after all it's all about business.. But I honestly am interested in how this is going to work out at the end of the day.

Have a nice day and enjoy your way of playing WoW, whichever path you have chosen :)

To be honest, wow is the cheapest entertainment I can think of for the amount of time I spend playing. Why are we breaking out economics for something so small as this?

That is not what i have said. I have said only this. As long as you do not use money on your account(wow1 or 2, wherever you have your f2p twinks, you are considered a f2p).

u dont have to pay p2ps, so when u win a bg with p2p u are now p2p cuz u had p2p help.
it doesnt matter if its ur mom Money or homeless guy on street Money, aslong as u pay for it, ur not f2p.

dont use Money on ur acc and u will be still "pure" f2p.

at end of the day its, play wut u like, just dont think u can get p2p gear/enchants and be considered f2p.

f2p is defined by the gear you use and only that, whether you pay for the acc or not is moot

an f2p acc with exploited p2p looms/enchants is not regarded as f2p just because it doesn't pay anything

a p2p acc playing with f2p restrictions is f2p even though its paying a sub

etc

nobody cares about achies/vanity crap

I'm going to give you a FREE car.

You just need to send me $20000 first.

After that I'll give you a FREE car.

I don't care that you get your money from your mommy, just send it to me and you'll get a FREE car.

Makes perfect sense.

Lets imagine it's a car that costs 20k to buy. After you buy it, it'll require no gas, no repairs or any mainteinance at all. You have to pay for nothing after you buy it in the first place. You can just keep driving it forever without any additional payments after the purchase.

Yeah, it's not a free car, but it's free to drive.

You're making yourself look pretty dumb by the way.
