The Future of Twinkinfo

Have you actually brought your concerns with the lack of structure in these bracket to to other mods or admins? Keep in mind how busy some of us have been,Why don't you try and become a moderator? You can champion your bracket without whining constantly on the forums because someone stated their opinion that you disagree with.

;) I'm glad you phrased your wording as you did. Whining in your eyes is fighting for 29s and 39s to get what is fair and what they deserve in my eyes. Last I recalled our conversation on the same topic ended up with you saying that you won't participate in 39s therefore there is no need to indulge in further conversation.

For me, I don't see the point in sacrificing one bracket for another. The TI staff have an interest in every bracket being active.

19s has more momentum and quality at the moment than even back in TBC, right now all we need is the quantity, to put 19s to a halt at this critical turning point in our history (and that is what a some-what successful 39s revival would do) is confusing to me, and seems like we are spreading ourselves too thin, but i won't be participating in 39s so i'll refrain from posting further.

Edit: On your other point, I'm not preventing anyone from making a choice, or shorting conversation, I am making people aware of the effects their efforts will have, and the idea that a forum user should be regulated to one section and not allowed to state their opinion on a subject that directly impacts them would be a level of censorship I would hope any moderator would be uncomfortable with.

I have also offered myself or support anyone who wanted to be a MOD of said brackets as seen here.
I would gladly volunteer to be a mod for the sole purpose of promoting these brackets, or would fully support anyone whose values align with that concept. But at the end of the day there needs to be some sort of power representation for these brackets or else the website would start to fall along the lines of #nineteeninfo no long twinkinfo.

I am not attacking you personally bro, I am attacking the system, that has managed to fall out of the graces of the majority of the community. If there is a way for me to further discuss the situation or volunteer to be a moderator, please enlighten me!

From my PoV i see the exact opposite of a fall from grace. Adding moderators is something that is born of necessity, in the past a post has been made asking for applications, at this point i'd say your best bet is to put together your own version of an application, and send it to myrm explaining why it is necessary for more moderators as well (he won't just take my word for it =P). In the mean time I will bring your concerns to the rest of the staff, and see what they think about more bracket managers as well.

Actually, hang on here fellas. The function of a moderator is to keep the site running and to resolve issues that deal with the website and the forums themselves. Moderators have nothing to do with brackets. paynefull I think you are conflating Conq's role as a moderator on the forum with Conq's participation as a player in a bracket. Yes it is true that many of the staff happen to also play 19s, but that was true even before Myrm bought the site. All we moderators do is answer reports, move and manage threads, and generally try to keep the ship together. If you want support in a particular bracket, then you want a bracket manager. That is a position that Myrm re-opened up so that there is someone from a bracket--whatever bracket--who has a few tools at their disposal to help organize things for the bracket. It's true that as of this moment Myrm has not specified exactly what duties and tools the bracket managers will have, but that is something that I've been keeping on his radar (like with this post and mention). He's a busy guy though, there are a LOT of back-end issues that still need to be resolved, so please have a little patience. And don't get too worked up about what some of the staff do in their "off-time" as players, and participants in their bracket.

Great news. Now, can you please do what the previous 2 owners wouldn't do for me?

Delete my account and all posts associated with it. Thanks.

That would be a very sad loss. :(

i'll take my moderator spot back plsthx :)

Thats one of the things you regret later

doubtful, drayners been asking for this since daman bought the site and that was like 4 years ago or something at this point

I would be honored to be a TI mod. If I were to be lucky enough to be chosen it is my pledge to get rid of the worst of TIs trolls.

The good ones can stay...

It's not really clear that Legion will totally eliminate all use for gear in PvP, as far as I've heard from GM's it might only change what's BiS. I've done a lot of reading up on this and it looks like it's going to affect higher levels more than lower levels, they've said that PvP gear won't be available but there will still be some PvE gear that'll give an advantage as well as your class weapon itself being upgraded by killing raid bosses. So what I think this means is if the season's PvP scaling is to 850 ilvl at 110, and top end raiding gear is 855 ilvl there will be the minor advantage like there is now. I don't see why this would be any different at low level with stuff like engineering goggles at 29 with 43 ilvl when the bracket's scaling is only to 34ilvl, which is effectively having gear above the bracket's level. Does that make sense? The best in slot items for each bracket might just change like they did with the introduction of PvP scaling (5.4.3 was it?) so don't get all your panties in a knot and start waving your armageddon signs outside of Blizzard HQ just yet. Plus you'll always have the new honor talents to grind for if you want that extra advantage over the other noobs in the bracket who don't have them, assuming they'll be available at all levels.

My point is all these people claiming legion will kill twinking don't know first-hand what the changes to PvP will be, or to what extent. There's still some hope.

P.S. Regardless of what Legion will do to twinks / gearing we still have a much bigger issue on our hands, these Jaja's are getting out of hand with their lack of knowledge / skill in BG's and we need to put a stop to it. #VoteToKickGallywix

I think scaling was 5.2. I starting playing level P2P 20's then since they were more powerful. Everyone thought I was nuts.

Yes, tough to say what Legion will bring. Expacs are always tough to predict. We probably won't know until after the 7.0 PTR gets released. And even then, things will change.
We will get some more information during/after Blizzcon. Which is coming up soon.

/cheers

We can always get everyone to bitch and complain about low level pvp scaling for twinking, blizzard responds well to public outcry.

I’ll start by thanking everyone for all of the congratulations and kind words I’ve received over the last couple days. I’m very excited about this and I know a lot of others are as well, but I’m also very inexperienced with the technical side of running a website, so even some of my seemingly simple plans might be a little far off.

This is a new beginning for Twinkinfo, and it’s only right that everyone will get to start with a clean slate. Unfortunately there is no “unban all” option, so I’ve just gone through and unbanned a bunch of the accounts that looked like they were someone’s primary account. If you want your primary account unbanned just message me and I'll unban it. I want to avoid permabanning actual members or prospective members of the community unless it's absolutely necessary. Much of the bracket is still fairly young and people change a lot at this stage of life. I was permabanned from Twinkinfo for years but I've gone on to become a constructive and significant contributor to the site and community.

I plan to be more permissive than Shane was, but I also don't want the site to descend into anarchy. I think the best way to foster a competitive atmosphere is through actual competition, not through the shit-flinging and perpetual dodging of the past. I have some great memories from BC and WoTLK, including the battleground forums, but I still think the community right now is the best that it has ever been. I want Twinkinfo to be a place where everyone feels like they're welcome and among friends. There's always going to be rivalries and people that just don't like each other; banter is ok, bullying isn't, if you cross the line you'll still get banned.

I appreciate the support and enthusiasm that the community has shown for the Twink Cup, and a large part of why I bought Twinkinfo was to try to better harness that enthusiasm and give it back to the community. In the future the majority of the profits that are made by running Twinkinfo will go into the prize pool of the future Twink Cups or towards funding other community events and endeavors. The easiest way to contribute monetarily to the Twink Cup in the future will be to whitelist TI on your adblock. Whether it's a $1000 online tournament or a packed exhibition center with paid flights and accommodations, the Twink Cup will be as grand of an event as the community can make it.

Some other things I have planned are bringing back bracket managers, bringing back the streaming subforums, adding a featured streamers sidebar that will show which streams are online, adding an event calendar, bringing back the auction house with the explicit rules that people can't talk about exchanging real world money for in-game items, badges/icons that will be displayed below the likes/dislikes, bringing back featured articles, probably in a more flexible way where people will be asked to write about a certain topic, and possibly letting people vote for a post to be set as a featured article with the writer being rewarded, shirts, more cooperation with bisnation, more podcasts, more tournaments.

I truly believe that as a community we have the ability to accomplish anything.
/Cheer
