Right, I really appreciate what you`re trying to do to help the Twink community, and believe that it`s a really great idea, but lemme play Devil`s Advocate just now. Blizzard didn`t shut down this year`s Twink Cup, why`d they shut down any subsequent iterations of it? Would they even dare to do that should it reach a sufficient size at some point (for the possible negative backlashes actions like that could generate), even if it`s linked (but not directly) to a rather shady TI? Because apparently they`re just content working with us (the greater Twink community), is there a very good reason for both us and them to directly work with TI (see Hamcake`s post [)?]The Future of Twinkinfo - Page 5 What`s to be gained other than a few achievement stickers for TI to sponsor the Twink Cup? Couldn`t you do it personally, or have something else arranged? Finally, we`re just way over our heads. What`d make a Twink Cup appear at Blizzcon? Enough attendees? And how`d we imagine that to happen? Have a gigantic prize pool? That`d leave with a few issues, chiefly, where`d you imagine that cash to come from? This year`s $7k pool`s already pretty impressive given your community standards, but it`s hardly even worth noticing in an esport world where`s stuff like the Dota 2 International `round the corner that`ll sport a grand total prize pool of $16m and counting. Additionally, while high-profile tournaments are a decent way to garner interest, these tend to attract the rather unsavory characters, shady players who`re just in for the cash. See, the higher the reward (from winning the tournament), the more attractive it becomes to trying to cheat it somehow just to rake it in. I doubt that this` the kind of Twinks we`re looking for. Right, that`s the Devil`s Advocate for now, I really hope that this`ll work out and that we`ll get to see a big Twink Cup every supper in the year`s to come and wish you all the most of luck for it, but even when I`m not a Devil`s Advocate anymore now, I kinda doubt it. There`s a lot of work to be done yet `till it kicks off to be self-sustaining (probably mainly with the prize pool, $7k is a good incentive for already existing Twinks, but hardly a reason for anyone else but the, usually, most unsavory characters to participate), but, well, /time to prove me false/ for us all, I guess. Oh, and finally, is there any chance that we`ll get to revise this thing (abolishment of the Private Server and RMAH sections), should everything of this fail? <3, Sela
I'm pretty sure that for having content such as private server information or the support of selling accounts and or items for the exchange of $ would be breaking the ToS and put the account holder in danger and furthermore, if TI's website was to share information regarding private server would be an action of condoning infringement on their copyright (private servers) and would have right to seek legal actions. So just drop the subject of Private server's already.
No, Private Server`s don`t violate any Copyrights, unless you manage to steal retail`s server software, which`d be a feat yet to be accomplished. Private servers run on their own server software. They`re violating the ToS, yes, but that`s something different.
By that time E-sports will be the REAL sports. I'm so glad so many of us community leaders see eye too eye. Our collective ambition, ability and persistence - it is sure to lead our dreams to fruition.
Once again congratulations, I hope you will rule the kingdom of TI for a long time yet! Although I have a question, once you recieved the admin status, I lost about 100-150 post counts, not that it matters I'm just curious how or why.
Myrm that vision is but a pipe dream. There just isn't enough general population interest in twinking. You hope that will change, but that's a fancy not a forecast. Do most twinks want the general population infesting twink brackets? Research suggests that the ideal community size is 100-250 people. That sounds like a twink bracket's population. The anonymity of end-game is stifling; our place in the community, and the relationships that we form are what keeps us here. Let's pretend they are off by an order of magnitude. That still keeps us to less than 2,500 people. The exposure and growth you want is either naive (because you haven't considered the consequences), or egotistical, or both. Picking up even 5k people would destroy our community. How far do you hope to push it? 10k? 50k? 100k?
Clique would be your direct guild/friend group that you play with in the greater twink community. In that greater community, you recognize names but may not associate with them.
what about posting private server screenshots? im guessing it falls into the no category but want to be sure
The future of twinkinfo in a nutshell..."19s 19s 19s!!! other brackets can go screw themselves!!!!" The mods have made their goals clear, and don't even respond to messages nor posts. They even start hoping other brackets fail....I am pretty much almost done with this site if it wasn't for previous commitments...
mods had to transition from shanes iron-fist to myrm who was running the 19 twinkcup as owners etc, new rules were set obvs and everyone was preoccupied with twinkcup but its over now so its k only thing that matters atm is 39s
Oh you haven't read the post where Conq wishes 39s would die out and how he plans to make 19s year round and christmas tournaments and all that....
To be completely honest i've re-evaluated since the twinkcup. I'm pretty indifferent too 39s now. The worst thing 39s will do to 19s is kill pugs for a little while, war games will be around regardless, because of the NWL and other efforts. Don't get me wrong, I like 19s PuGs, but if its one or the other, I think seasons are far more appropriate in this scenario.
Indifferent to 39s but yet your still evaluating the effects 39s will have on 19s and somehow manage to switch the whole conversation to 19s. You already admitted your bias, I'm not questioning that. But don't say your indifferent to 39s when your entire profile is that of a 19 fanatic. All I needed was some help to promote 39s, but the site administration can't help do that, nor can it appoint someone with an administrative title to do it. Not even 29s which is the bread and butter of the bracket at the moment.... The state of this site, in my eyes is slowly diminishing to anyone who doesn't play in the 19s brackets. Not even a proper conversation or dialogue can be had to fix the situation...
