This is my first time posting in this thread so I'd like to begin by saying that Myrm and Purj are very admirable for putting this together in the desired result of sparking interest in the 19s bracket.
It was great seeing many people form teams and battle it out in the tournament. Whether it have been merely for the money or pleasure, it was a fun experience nonetheless.
From what I've gathered from playing in the 19s bracket is that it's very adaptive. I can say with 100% certainty that when each team saw that the rbg team was running a Guardian Druid, they were confused, tested it for themselves and realized how much better they were. Sure, Druid FC's have been in this bracket since BC but only ever as Restoration, never Guardian. In premades the go to FC was and has been a Warrior. I'm sure before the rbg team showed up with a Guardian Druid, everyone was going to have a Monk or a Warrior FC.
An example of a similar adaptation is back in Cata when Shamans had Earth shield, I proposed that we use a Restoration Shaman FC over a Warrior to Pizza and it worked wonders. What did the other teams do? If I remember correctly, most if not all were running a Restoration Shaman FC shortly after as well.
Pizza is what 2200 in rbgs? I know he watches Bailamos all the time and us running a Guardian Druid was what he wanted. Before convincing Darkchewie to resub he would have me log on my Rogue to test my damage on him as Guardian.
I know for a fact that at least two teams were going to run Rogues. Pizza's and Livingforce's. I was originally going to be playing Rogue until our Monk quit and I had to play my Monk, but we had last minute changes and had Sliq gear up his monk over night while I played Rogue. We even had Cipe planned to play on his Rogue too.
Hamgoldx(Tapout) is famous for his outrageously geared Rogues in which he spends a lot of real life money on. If he wasn't playing Rogue then that would've been a shocker.
I'd like to say that my Rogue play style is dissimilar from other Rogues in this bracket because I received my Rogue experience from the 39s bracket, which is frankly a bracket of a higher caliber than 19s, at least it was in Wotlk. If I remember correctly even Unseenz stated that he played 39s back in the day.
I honestly believe that if someone was playing Rogue over me he would have been suiciding every chance he got for a push rather than sapping healers, sapping EFC on push, etc; since that has been the play style of the 19 Rogue as of lately.
All that aside though, the tournament has definitely sparked a lot of interest in the bracket in my opinion.
I had a strong feeling that the final competing teams would have been between SR and TSN. Had their team took it as serious as others on the team did by gearing properly, getting professions, and practicing more then they would have stronger chance of actually winning the tournament for sure. Hell, if they had a been playing for a month or two they probably would have dominated us but SR wouldn't have gone down without kicking and throwing punches! It's completely understandable because the bracket IS a very different meta for them as Bigmoran stated earlier.
The 'rbg heroes' came here with their elitist masks on causing trouble, but through those masks a lot of them are really cool individuals and I hope to play with and against them in the future if they plan on sticking around.
When I was watching the streams the other day I heard Abn say 'why are we fighting, can we just sit afk until stacks, this is stupid they are just turtling' it made me realize that the turtling style of 19s games are simply not fun and just boring, even worse when using a Guardian.
I was talking to Staystrong last night and it would be awesome if we could put together more premades in the future with banning the use of Guardian Druids.
The removal of the Guardian Druid can potentially initiate new strats, prevent turtles, and improve the excitement of the games.
All in all, it was awesome being a part of the tournament, I enjoyed playing with everyone in it and I hope this has cast a positive influence on the bracket.
