Talents Preview Discussion [w/ Calaculator Link]

Wait to we lose Hi-explosive Trap??? How much do we know about pvp talents atm? I thought they don't change that much.
I had so fun shooting ppl off towers in epic bgs with 2x knockback skills. :Sadge:

Its in the middle of the regular talent tree locked atleast 11 points down.

Ouch i see. Sad news for me, I really had those always on CC just to throw ppl for fun. But it's atleast good for the balance, loosing those skills will make hunter much more vulnerable for melees, giving them better chances.

So youd go DP over Mind Bomb or reduced fear cd? Ye, Power Infusion is a big get, but it also restricts your comp as youre gonna want another class that gets alot from that haste since its pretty useless on the class youve just stripped of all its dmg. Having 2 schools of casting is gonna be big though.

It's just a question of how much damage you're wanting to give up. I've been going back and forth between DP and Mind Bomb (reduced fear seems less valuable than Mind Bomb -> Fear). It just comes down to what your comp needs.

My bottom line I guess is that I value Silence at roughly the same as Unfurling Darkness. They do different things with/against different comps.

Without Silence you might as well play Holy Priest, will likely get better damage and way better healing tbh

People looking at hunter in a vacuum are going to be scared but looking at hunter relative to other classes (so far) and I'm sorry but we're gonna have a lot of "oh but I've always been a hunter main" players suddenly deciding that they want to "try out a different class because Im bored".

There are going to be a lot of rogue players looking for revenge in DF and I think theyre going to get it.
I just remembered I was a rogue main all along. Never even liked hunter to begin with :PeepoGlad:

Ye, maybe. Theres also dispersion. Lots of difficult choices to make.

Youd bring alot of utility for sure, but ye you need a closer in your team to bring the damage, youd just be there for silence, PI and psyfiend.

I think you all are overhyping silence a bit. It's not that great. Without UD dmg is awful. Silence is basically a scuffed stun.

For Arena, silence is insanity. Unfurling is good, but not exactly your top damaging ability in long arenas. It's burst that is easily coordinated - so it's quite good. But so is a 4 second CC on an enemy healer that DRs with very little.

Edit - and in all of this conversation, I think Dispersion gets hit the hardest. I don't see very many reasons to go it anymore.

I mean yeah, a long time sub rogue main like me would know that of course. I'm so glad we get these new talents.

I agree I think it could be good in some arena comps, but I think youre wrong about the rest, no way someone is playing it in a 10v10. Your damage is going to be nonexistant and youll rely entirely on an aff lock, ele sham or fury warr to carry games for you.

Dispersion is nice because its a defensive cd, and if youre going far enough to that side of the tree which I dont recommend it should probably be picked up because not everyone gets defensives.

Yeah, I think you're right about the 10v10s. It's going to be too awkward at 20 to try to multi-lock-down enemy healers. You just want to burn through a front line with Shadow in that situation. Even still, I'm not big on Misery... Mind Bomb seems better to me.

You have to get Mind Bomb or psychic to reach UD. Misery is vs DP and VE.

If anything people clashing on which talents are the best is a good thing. Why would we want every single person running the same build. im looking forward to seeing unique play styles and people making builds that end up being strong that others did not think would be in the first place.

*hunters removing mask Scooby doo style*

I have to agree here. Since they nerfed it from 90% to 75% a while back, I find that I can still get nuked for half of my HP even inside of Dispersion. With the other compelling options in the tree, I find it hard to justify it (at least for BGs, might be neccesary for arena though).

Wihout DP, we have no reason for sanity to exist at 20 xD if I had my druthers, both this and VT would be baseline for shadow. But, meh. I at least like the flexibility of this new system.

EDIT: also keep in mind that these talents probably are still far off from their final form. For example: you can take vampiric insight without even taking VT LOL

Speaking narrowly on the topic of arena, I'm not really sure why you'd go it either... If there were true ladder games, you would pick it against comps that win by killing specifically *you*. You would be queueing blind, so you wouldn't be able to swap to another class against those comps.

But since most arenas at 20 happen either in Wargames (can pick your comps) or in skirmishes (which have a lot of sniping anyways), you probably won't end up needing it... that being said it does build out of Silence, which I predict will be a reason for a lot of comps to pick up an Spriest.
