State of Twinking?

Hey guys, I have my eyes on the thread and I agree that the communication is not great. My plan to fix this is Guilds, once a few active guilds are going on realms with good activity for twinks, partnerships can be made and guilds can team up for Events, Battlegrounds, Wargames, Arenas. On Horde I have this already in the works, The Brotherhood of Banners is on 4 realms and has over 1300 members total! I will work with the most active Alliance guild to set up a "Brotherhood" over there. This helps with communication but I still want to figure better ways to make it better!

I know some people don't like being in guilds but if you want communication it is the number one tool to get involved with multiple other twinks in Battlegrounds atleast, but as Coordinator, I will keep Wargames weekly and Community Events Daily!
 
Definitely active but severely broken. I for one am looking forward to the mop server and if that doesnt pan out Ill probably go to warmane. Old expansion twinking was the best.

i have mixed feeling about twinking at 20-29

first we no longer get to global other players in 3-4 sec cause of scaling and ipvp stats, but also hate it cause the gears we worked for are useless in bg's

either way is a 50/50 on this xpac, just need to look foward to the next one
 
So I think twinks rise and fall every day. It's a way of playing that some people just don't understand. The lack of customization with your toons really sucks. And the thought of "well op gear no matter everyone fair" is just dumb. Op classes just stay op and are hard to counter and sometimes impossible to 1v1, in the higher brackets the need to go 79 has increased since the difference is no longer just abilitys and a talent. I believe twinking is just fine, if you really twink, you adjust, if you can adjust forwards and use an op item before nerf, you can adjust backwards and suck it up for the way they gimped pvp until they buff it. Community is weaker, but that is easily fixable, we just need more people who enjoy twinking to find this website and reach out for help playing. I meet twinks that we're on the verge of quitting and are so excited and even transfer servers and resub just because the opportunity to play with other twinks compels them passed the fact that blizzard is trying to take away hard earned time. It's fine
 
remember those AV pugs... they were so fkng cool. waking up, hopping on my twink, and getting an AV literally made my day. every single time. that's gone now. what we have left is gear that isn't interesting. a bracket full of randos. and surv hunters. also: rip the competetive pugs. rip fucking displacer beast. rip everything good. rip stam stacked fc sets(that were fking hard to get). rip all the good twinks who just fucking left. fking rip. it honestly makes me so toxic even thinking asbout legion twinking cuz i enjoyed (wod) twinking so god damn much. damn im pissed now yall have a good day.
 
Stagnant.

Things grew for awhile back in the hayday when battlegroups were a thing, then most stuff died after Blizzard split BGs so twinks had to queue in separate BGs as levelers (made it so battlegrounds gave exp). For me personally, this is when things went south and I played much less, occasionally coming back for fun.

Things like 30-39 & 40-49 have been virtually wiped out since the BG split with a couple nostogiac resurgances.

10-19 has survived after the BG split through the community and is extremely competitive, in this it maintains a core group of very skilled players but does not grow because there is so much depth to the games that can only be learned through many hours of learning.

20-29 has been the most volatile bracket since the BG split. Once F2P was introduced, this allowed for the "old school pug" form of twinking to come back where people rolled 24s and stomped on F2Players. BM monks were also a thing and now survival hunters. Bracket has survived on the fact it merges with F2Players. Perhaps sometime it will grow, I can see it happening if the classes become more balanced.

Miss the old 30-39s!!! Best bracket ever!!!

I personally think due to the queuing system it effects the old for the idea of the new generation of twinking, yes it's been dumbed down that's not the point i am looking at. Never the less if you get two old twink guilds to premade, I bet you wouldn't call it dead or non competitive, I'm sure will see one of the tensest and a intellectual game. I think this xpac challenged us to see how we were as a community, and we've kinda failed.

I tend to agree with you except 19s need an elitist mosh pit environment in which single players can stand out, not this foam sword kindergaten bs that it feels like today. It feels like communism where everybody must be exactly the same which ofc is caused by templates.
No control left to the player over his/her stats. All the gear carefully collected replaced by whites or warforged rng crap

Its just too sad when logging on my tinks.
So I am rolling end game fotm feels like old 19s with roughly same amount of spells and ppl blow up just as fast but no where near as fun as 19 or endgamr used to be tho 4 sure.

Different ppl, different reasoning, different goals.
That is not why I twinked not even b4 xpoff nor do I know of many whom did even fewer who enjoyed those kind of games.

the 'old' 19s with good pugs n people wanting to be better and competetive is long gone, now people rather suck and farm levlers :D

i dont mind the current state, sure its abit sad but i personally wouldnt have time to play pugs like i used to and im happy playing a 3-4 hrs/week solo queing with 100% win ratio :)

but its hella dead tho
 
I have twinked as my main wow activity since vanilla and I know things are fantastic right now.

So the "good old days" are not inaccurately represented I want remind people what was going on back in BC and WOTLK for 29s.
  • There was one horde guild to challenge to WSG on our server. And once we worked up to beat them there was no more premading to do there. You then had to do a match via PTR and there was only one guild who wanted to do that, and we did and it was a big ordeal to make happen and the game went 2 hours with one flag cap and people had to go to sleep for school and we never finished. PTR was always laggy.
  • Dueling on PTR and twink pug wsg matches were highlights however... we currently organize "CUPS" more often than those happened. There is more WSG matches happening now and more opportunities to have them I ever remember happening with the ability for wargames across all servers and the great community tool of xpoff.com.
  • PUG ques had just as many bad games back then, you either gy camped the other team (and had to slog running flags yourself to get to the next match) or got gycamped by 5 hunters, AND once in a while you got super fun balanced match (just like happens now). Most games there was not brand named twinks on the other team to play against. Then one game you would get a brand name twink but they were queuing with three hunters and you were queuing solo.
If you are not having as much fun these days it is not the games fault. Maybe you were in a guild with friends back then.

Annoying things of current
  • Dueling as a thing is gone since damage is way greater than life outside of instances
  • Hunters are by far worse than they have ever been (although they have always been the most annoying/strongest)
  • Not getting to have different gear sets (fc stam, glass cannon, spirit, etc)
  • Half of slots are BIS grandfathered from invasions
  • I miss all the trinkets and consumables
Awesome things of current
  • Fast que times!
  • XP eliminator option
  • Easy to gear / try a new class. Don't have to level engineering and get 350 herbalism.
  • Nobody complaining about twinks on the forums and getting us kicked out of the bg system since we all have the same stats
  • xpoff is a great community
  • Cross server
  • Btags letting you play with anyone without needing to transfer
  • Not spending all week making consumables. I just get on and play now.
 
20-29 US is actually not that bad at all. did a few games a week ago

many twinks from like a dozen different guilds play on both sides sometimes in groups which cause for exciting games
also with the horner brothers kickin around and with the weekly premades..
quality/activity wise its the best twinking brack today with the most potential
 
Twinking will never be completely dead. Many of us just move on for a while then come back when we feel that itch. I'd be active atm if I weren't still on the road looking for a new place to call home. Hopefully I'll be back in a few weeks.
 
I love the way twinking works WPVP wise with stat ench gear buffs.

But I just miss the feeling, of going in a BG, and obliterating people with gear you farmed, worked, and bought.

I would say I'd love stuff like Hit, Lblood, etc back. But that's just nostalgia ^^

In my opinion, twinking as of right now is fine in wpvp, you can still kill people alot etc. But BG's needs to be converted back to XP > Non XP, and have stat templates removed, as I saw in another thread, levelers barely do BGS, because it's our playground. I'm just dissapointed blizzard took their ''Nerf Bus'' and equipment, and scooped the playground right away.
 
For level 20s it is best so far.

Most classes got major improvements in spells with legion.
Bgs got semi gear progression.
Mostly none existing difference between 20 and 29.
Short ques most of time.
Scaling world events.
Spirit beasts to tame.
Few fotm classes to keep others in line.

29s be maaddz?! All great to me!
 
Why is there a state of twinking literally every month it feels like, or times just flying now cause im working 40 a week
