Might be because many of them are repeating it on the same toons. Since it's possible that it's a daily lockout for drops, but I'd like to be wrong.
 
Friend did it for the first time of the day, it was silver border to him. This was my 2nd kill of the day, golden border to me. Next hour I will try with a toon on a different server, and will report what the MDK border color is.

Logged into different character on a different realm, and the MDK portrait was still Golden (Elite). Just thought you guys should know the Rare/Elite trigger is account-wide.

I switched characters and the 1st time around the border was silver, there after its been gold. So the 1st time on each character is silver, not sure if that means it is 1 shot per day at an epic? Next to no info to go by, just allot of testing.
 
Interesting, because when I logged into different character for the first time of the day against the MDK it was gold for that toon on his first try. Weird...
 
Took a little break from staring into that dark cave at the DMF to go get corpse camped by some gnome mage from the Kel'Thuzad server at the STV Fishing Event. Good Times.
 
5:30 ETS: (horde afflict warlock) Number 1 fan achieved and received Bassist Role. Gold bordered boss and trash loot though.

I wasn't number one fan during most of the game, last time a check (20-30 sec before end) I was hardcore fan with about 3000 score. So I think it was unlikely I scored higher than my test with MM hunter. Just keep apply DOT on all the ghouls instead of draining as I did last time. I think as Nocontest shows, you get a random role assigned if you ended up number 1 fan and thats how you get the new taking this show on the road achievement

  • Drummer Avoid getting hit by any of the banshee waves, while still catching every bolt of light.
  • Bassist Avoid getting hit by any of the banshee waves, but miss at least 1 of the bolts of light.
  • Vocals Get hit by at least 1 banshee wave, while still catching every bolt of light.
  • Guitarist Get hit by at least 1 banshee wave, and miss at least 1 of the bolts of light.
In addition to this, you still need to be (close to?)/at the top score, so I would recommend only making a few mistakes for the non- Drummer attempts, so that you won't fall too far behind.
 
I'll try it a handful of times tonight on my various F2P. :3

I'll be on in a few hours on my Alliance toons on Aerie Peak US, if anyone wants to group.

Haven't checked myself yet, but has WoWhead or any others got an official loot table of the thing yet?
