US RIP

RIP to all the people who didn't actually gear their twinks besides whites and greens with no enchants when Pre-Patch comes around.

You're gonna have to gear up or get stomped. The lazy people who just rolled alts and didn't care about gear for dueling and wpvp are about to be fodder.

Well, at least the queue for dungeons will be instant as a healer or tank... As opposed to waiting for 20 seconds.

with no enchants when Pre-Patch comes around.

I have enchants on pretty much all of my characters aside from the few 20s I leveled, but are you saying something is going to happen coming soon that won't allow enchants once patch hits? Like if we don't get enchanted stuff now, we'll miss out with the expansion? I didn't think anything was changing with those.

Enchants aren't going anywhere. Honestly that isn't the biggest issue unless we're talking about Satyr enchant.

Just saying that enchants along with gear will be something these people would have to actually try and get and spend time doing so in order to be effective in BGs again. And when it comes to preparing all throughout wod and legion, some of us will have a huge advantage over the ones who just filled out their slots for legion pvp.

The legion expansion was like communism, gear didn't matter, and everyone was equal. Which sounds fair, but it was bland and boring.

It was basically punishing players for getting ahead and working harder and spending more time to gear their toon, these players were penalized for their efforts, this is not good, because it promotes mediocrity, like communism.

So instead of PvP being gear driven, it became class driven instead. And people just rolled whatever the best class was. (People will always find a way to get ahead).

Since there was no gearing req, it just made it that much easier for players to make a hunter and roll FOTM, since the prep was easy.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but there wasn't as much twinks playing during this expansion (especially in the 20-29 bracket). The ratio of noobs to twinks was like 40/60, which was high compared to the usual ratio of 10/90.

So many times you would see a bunch of noobs on your team that only had around 3/5 pieces of armor on, and didn't know how to play the game properly at all, but they weren't penalized. These players lacked experience and didn't care to improve themselves. It was the little things that they didn't know, like flag capping, when to interrupt, what to do in certain situations, all these little things added up, especially when you realize that half your team has little to no experience in PvP at all, you just feel helpless, despite the fair scaling.

If those same noobs think they are going to PvP like that in the next expansion, they have another thing coming, they will get one shot, they will be forced to gear up, and they will be forced to learn how to play better, which helps out everyone else in the long run.

is anyone else going to be using [enchant cloak - gift of x] for the minor speed or is it just be?

Movespeed is crucial for 19s so if it still stacks with minor speed, yes.
If it doesn't stack its useless because minor speed to boots is 10% speed vs 2% speed on cloak.

Someone in another thread said it does stack. But I'll still be using pvp power enchant (+6) which is 3% increased damage and 1.5% increased healing for dps (it's different for tanks / healers).

Dumbest post I've seen in a long time. You still had to fill every slot with the right items and if you did you got extra stats. Sure it wasnt the advantage 29s were used to. But too say you were punished for having better gear than others is not just wrong, it's false with a sprinkle of crazy on top.

I believe he's simply emphasizing on the fact that it takes no time/effort to gear, and that everyone was more or less equal, and so everything came down to class balancing, which they failed horribly as well. Slam on some white pieces, go pwn. You don't "need" 25 dungeon gear etc. etc. It gives you 1-2% increase at the lower levels or something like that. There was literally no effort. People who had higher ilvl GF'd gear got maybe an extra 1% or something miniscule like that. And if your definition of "better gear" is to simply fill every slot, then idk xd.

His usage of communism as an analogy isn't far off, although it is the more extreme form of communism, leaning more towards marxism. I think his idea of "punishment" was that if you put in the time and effort, it barely got you anywhere. Imagine if you were highly educated, top of your class, got a prestigious job, working long hours etc, and then you make 1% more than someone who got straight out of elementary school, working at mcdonald's. Wouldn't that seem like a joke to you? Effort should obviously be rewarded in a game system that gives you the option to, else why bother at all?

Bare in mind, that you are playing an MMORPG. What are the core essences to an MMORPG? One of them is empowering your character through gear that you obtain over course of time, and have the option to customize your character with said gear as you please. You are in control of your character. WoW was never a dedicated PvP game. It did offer a very unique and interesting way of PvP, seeing as it was an MMORPG. However, with templates etc. they tried to make PvP what an MMORPG was never about. Why would I play something half-assed, where the main aspect/focus isn't even revolved around PvP, if it strips away my MMORPG experience? I would rather play a dedicated PvP game then, which has had years of input and experiences in fine-tuning that very specific aspect alone. WoW was never about that, and should never be. It's doomed to fail really. You are playing an MMORPG, and not a dedicated PvP game.

I should cut the quote but anyway I never said that the communism analogy wasnt correct, it is decent nor did I in anyway defend the template system, I could but I didnt.

What I found to be ridiculous was that he spoke as if people who filled 3/5s of their gear slots were even steven with him which isnt close to the case.

I'm saying that there was a big gap between people without gear and if you geared properly you even had a minor advantage over those that geared every slot. Guessing the dude played 24s before 29s since that is the only reason I can find for someone writing something so bananas. Anyway I drift, back to your pay education thingy. There is still an advantage and the system will adjust around it (respect of others which brings stuff with it etc). I'm on my phone so I cant bother with the essay (also sorry for typos that it brings). Anyway ye class balance wasnt great.

Ill be swaping cloaks around to use the extra speed when i can if that works in bfa, I imagine fcs/rogues/hunters/shamans or whatever classes take a more objective role in wsg will do the same, movespeed is huge at 19.

I didn't hate legion PvP btw, I was just saying that it bred mediocrity. That's just my opinion.

I guess I didn't post any legion pvp positives in my post, so people could mistake me for being negative, but I wasn't trying to offend anyone.

Legion was fun though, I enjoy adapting to every expansion, its a little challenge for me.

And I am looking forward to the next expansion.

This is basically where I was coming from. Ty bestword <3

Jokes on u I quit this shit game months ago

I stopped playing a long time ago too (when I maxed honor level on my main) except for occasional gold making each month or so.

Hopefully if BFA is a hit with Twinking and my Legion Invasion Gear can carry me over I might may play one evening a week if I have time.

I have collected 1000’s of materials for engineering and alchemy though.

/cheers

I really expected your post in this thread to just be "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail... /cheers"
