Not sure if anyone asked yet but any tips on playing boomy ? One thing I lack at sometimes is awareness. Looking to improve for sure. I know there may be a lot to things to cover on this , I just prefer not to FC. Great thread btw!
You're by far best best class to pick anyone off, in an offense defense situation, or even a mid fight, you can pick when you want to be in stealth, when you want to open mid, when you want to pressure fc, when you want to go for the repick because your fc is dying.
In premades you are the secondary FC, you're a druid, you have the mobility to do so. Because of how powerful dash is, you are able to be in stealth one moment and be on top of killing anyone in the next due to its usability in stealth. Although you cannot sap like a rogue, you can definitely control the tempo of mid, if thats you wanting to open middle with the team to kill something, come out of stealth and save someones life because your regrowth cast does like 800 healing or something obserd, or just opening their FC in the back providing pressure for your team to catch up.
If you're closest to the flag and your team just capped and/or just died, its usually best for you to go for the next pick and meet your team asap. If your flagcarrier just died, and the stacks are high enough, you alone can easily have enough pressure to stop them getting to cap, buying time for your team at this stage is crucial if you don't want to be giving up the game.
Most of the time, you'll find that the 10% movement you get from using travel, vs the stealth you get from cat, that the stealth from cat provides alot more pressure than the travelform speed. But you also have to remember, showing yourself is providing pressure aswell. Just popping up near their fc in travel form, their team noticing you, and you going into stealth is another way to provide pressure.
You're one of the only classes that can actually pick off anyone in the game, you are boarder line unsoloable except outside I believe rsham. So if you wanted, you can pick of multiple of their team by yourself if they aren't near a healer, you have the few strongest dots and instant casts in the game, use it to your advantage.
Along with all this, you have to remember you are the back up fc if all goes to shit, you have to think ahead and position to do that job as soon as it hits the wall. Thinking 3 minutes ahead of what you think their FC will do, what your FC would do, how to deal with that situation, how they might kite, will help you understand when or when not to open and provide pressure or quickly reposition for the next pick. Sometimes the cap is over and you might have to play for the next one. This comes down to more experience.
Gl, its a strong role to fill in the Gulch.

hello fancy
do you think a lot of the skilled twinks are smarter than the other players, that they've just played a lot longer, or are they doing specific things that everyone should be doing? ive gotten some answers on this topic from some others but wanted ur perspective
i think some players get discouraged by the fact that they dont know enough/arent good enough even after a while of playing and want to give up, what would you say to them to keep them invested in improving? I myself in games have those "ah fuck" moments where I make a dumb mistake, or feel like I misread a situation or missed an important situation completely
TLDR; best tips to keep improving in your opinion?
thx bud
Best way to improve is to notice that, most of the time, you are probably really quite trash compared to the most ideal player. Now if you envisioned an AI that had played your class over 100,000 times over in every imaginable situation and knows what it has to do better and maximize that situation, what do you think that it would of done in that point in time to maximize its positioning, its rotation its choice of even being there in the first place, these are all the things you have to consider. Sometimes you have to take a risk to win a game, so how do you maximize this risk, how do you live slightly longer just enough to make an impact?
Simple. You legit try your best on your class you want to master, every single game. It's more mentality than anything else, if you want to excel you keep playing the same thing, alot like the AI, in every situation, and after that situation is over, think if you could of played that better, or even all out avoided it, now with the new ranged targeting blizzard has added so you can see nameplates from Africa, every class if try harded enough, could track where their team is to some degree.
Most of the time, you may never notice that you could of maximized a situation, but it is usually best to develop a set of rules to find this situation, for example, FC should avoid all fighting at all costs, find the weakest link to run through and do it as soon as possible.
For a mist weaver it might be, I'm the only healer in this pug, I have to keep my FC alive, or, my boomkin is about to attempt to cut off their team in middle from crossing, I have to keep him alive. While doing so I have to also reposition away from their team, my safety is the most important.
Things like these that you may develop over playing the game alot, simple rules to follow because by a process of elimination of playing such great quantity of games and experiences that you just have in your head to follow, that it is usually the best case to do so.
Although most games start off in middle, when it starts getting to O and D it becomes tricky, the rules begin to get shifted, as there is so much los, your ability to maximize the situation comes down to knowing the limit of your class, are you able to take on 3 arcane mages if you keep moving in los and healing yourself? Are you able to 1v2, 1v3, keep people alive? Best thing to do is play alot of pugs, even duel outside org if you are uncertain on what you might be able to do in tight situations.
You can also take this a step further and have gear sets for certain 1v1s, openers, mid, so you know the limit of your potential. You'll be surprised how maybe an extra 200 health or 20 ap is enough to chance the course of a fight for you winning the 1v1 or not. Just practice, understand you probably suck extremely bad atm just coming back into the game, and always remember you can keep improving.
