Lets try something controversial - What do you think happens after death? Discuss.

Re: Lets try something controversial - What do you think happens after death? Discuss

and religion was created to cover these things ( oh and racism, intolerance hate, might, greed )

religion wasnt "made" to give people hope, it was made to justify wars, superiority, loot the poor and so many other terrible things... "religion" would still deplete the humanity BUT it isnt possible anymore, thanks to the secularization.
People always rationalize war, without religion they can find a reason to want another's land.

God bless secularization. It has risen!

ofc ppl will always find reason for wars, but we dont live in a "would" world. reality from our human history is that religion started terrible wars and people who benefited from it were religious people, nothing was nearly as rich and as powerful as the church in the middle age

Re: Lets try something controversial - What do you think happens after death? Discuss

War is about resources, land, and pride

War was about land. Having more land would allow your countries church to tax more people. And the 3 branches of christianity was a great reason to start wars in the old ages, the 30 year war being perhaps the most prominent one. Pride = Our god is better than your god?

Also, if you believe in any god, you're not atheistic, you're theistic. The Saint & leotseddap :)
Maby you should read first before posting stuff we allready know and mention people. We discussed atheism and took it a little further then the general definition and the discussion stopped cause of the lack of knolledge from saint and his wiki's :p Now you want to start all over again and I say again, I am not here to give you your answers so get to work smart guy and find out yourself. Use the power god gave you :)

and leotseddap, who is as loopy as elkiva
The problem is that I always think I am interacting with intellectual people and just give them a little bump towards the right direction not giving answers directly and being a little fague and letting people do the actual thinking. Yup, that's me :)

I found this whilst randomly surfing the internet the other day.

Birth Marks Connected To Previous Lives

Falkor - I honestly don't care.

quit throwing up stupid links. that is one of the stupidest pieces of drivel ever. stick to actual science and theories if you want to tryn be edgy.

Re: Lets try something controversial - What do you think happens after death? Discuss

Please be realistic.

You first.

I am not the one being ignorant here. I sure do know the general definition of atheism. I don't need wiki's about this subject but you need it pretty badly to figure out the types of atheism. So get to work smart guy :)

There is the three words to describe ones beliefs; Atheism, Theism and Agnosticism. Which one best describes me?

I thought you were smart enough to understand but ok: why ignore all other gods and just pick one randomly to believe in from books with the biggest lies/stories ever? Why put all others aside and pick the one from evil times instead of making your own believe with your free will god gave you? Is that freewill? Nope. Just simply following the hurd.

I was born in a time when mainstream religions believe in one God. Christianity, Judaism and Islam believe in the same God, just not the same messiah and how to worship.

As for freewill, the clue's in the name. We're free to do what we want with it.

not believing in god/gods is not the same as faith. it requires zero faith for me to not believe in some invisible sky man who hasnt appeared on earth for thousands of years after apparently being so influential in olden days

No, you just have faith there isn't one.

oh boy. please try trolling harder. or just like, do some very basic research...

Please show me undisputed proof of evolution. Scientists have been looking for it for years, when they should of just came to TI. Stoopids.

Oh you meant the missing link not the missing link.

Exactly. When are they gonna make their minds up.

"MISSING LINK" FOUND: New Fossil Links Humans, Lemurs?

Missing link between man and apes found - Telegraph

Extraordinary 'missing link' fossil fish found in China

Or is it the one you linked?

Some of the things in the bible are facts for example there's a city named Jerusalem.

But science was "positive" the things i linked didn't happen.

and religion was created to cover these things ( oh and racism, intolerance hate, might, greed )

religion wasnt "made" to give people hope, it was made to justify wars, superiority, loot the poor and so many other terrible things... "religion" would still deplete the humanity BUT it isnt possible anymore, thanks to the secularization.

edit: oh and yea, religion was also important for people who cant accept the fact human brains have their limit, so everything which seems unexplainable HAS to concern with a "higher might"

Show me a biblical text that says tho shalt kill they neighbor because he has a funny accent.

Nowhere in the bible does it say for you to kill for religion, yet the crusaders did it anyway. That's people, not religion.

Like the man said... People are bastards.

Falkor, How was I being edgy? I'm not the one carrying the biggest ego within this thread. Why don't you take it else where? Science is one thing but research via different academia is another thing all together. Science can't always explain everything, so stop using it as a reliability for a "So called" valid argument.

There's one that says you should kill him if he works on sundays though.

That's the old testament.

Jesus's word one the matter was "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." Mark 2:27.

You first.
NO U, is a good argument.
There is the three words to describe ones beliefs; Atheism, Theism and Agnosticism. Which one best describes me?
Good you did some homework but not enough to figure it out.

I was born in a time when mainstream religions believe in one God. Christianity, Judaism and Islam believe in the same God, just not the same messiah and how to worship.
You are talking to an atheist. Does this mean I have interests in this stuff?? If you think logically aobut what you are saying that that it's the same god but everything else is different, why on earth could it be the same one? These are just assumptions.

As for freewill, the clue's in the name. We're free to do what we want with it.
And yet you still follow the believes of the mainstream without making your own with your freewill : /

NO U, is a good argument.

That's what you get when you denounce something that's very plausible with out a reason.

Good you did some homework but not enough to figure it out.

I don't need to look stuff up i already know. Just because you didn't, doesn't means we all didn't.

You are talking to an atheist. Does this mean I have interests in this stuff??

No, it means you don't believe in a god. I thought that's what we was talking about.

If you think logically aobut what you are saying that that it's the same god but everything else is different, why on earth could it be the same one? These are just assumptions.

It's the same assumptions that better minded people than us have been making for a little while now.

And incase it's escaped you, this whole thread is about assumptions. Yours being god doesn't exist and mine being he does.

And yet you still follow the believes of the mainstream without making your own with your freewill : /

But if I stopped believing I'd just be following the Atheists, either way I'm screwed :(

"what has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."

C WOT I DID DER?

Re: Lets try something controversial - What do you think happens after death? Discuss

i dont have a birthmark

Re: Lets try something controversial - What do you think happens after death? Discuss

No, you just have faith there isn't one

no, actually i have no faith. there is zero faith required to know there is no invisible sky monster who set a bush on fire and told some crusty old jew to write down 10 commandments.

Please show me undisputed proof of evolution. Scientists have been looking for it for years, when they should of just came to TI. Stoopids.

there is ample evidence for evolution on both macro- and micro- scales. but what does it matter to you? scientists could release an indisputable, unbroken chain of fossils going from modern man back to the tiny mammal that survived the doom of dinos and you would still call bullshit. thats the problem with people like you. you refuse to accept facts even when they stare you in the face. so have fun believing in your creationism, and 6000 year old planet, ya nut job.

Falkor, How was I being edgy? I'm not the one carrying the biggest ego within this thread. Why don't you take it else where? youre trying to be edgy by linking terrible "theories" just to stir the pot. you try to provoke discussion of topics, only you use bullshit. no research, no science, no academia. just some shitty blog talking about birthmarks, or some pro gamer discussing the afterlife. and you dont even believe it. when i called out the athene video you essentially said "lol so what, i dont even believe that", well then why the bloody hell did you link it to me?! if you're going to try and be hip and avant-garde you should probably at least stand behind what you say.

That's the old testament.

whats your point bud? its in your big book of fanciful lies and fairy tales. you cant claim its the word of god and meant to be literally interpreted and then pick and choose what to believe. if you want to see it as truth then youre stuck with the old and the new, the good and (majority) bad, the somewhat sensible and the totally bullshit.

Re: Lets try something controversial - What do you think happens after death? Discuss

no you wouldnt. you would be using logic and reason to break the shackles of religion. its not like youd be joining a church of atheism and have to follow people. you could finally be an individual. but thats clearly too much work for ya
