Just sharing some mail I recieved this morning from Blizzard Customer Support

It seems like we can boil the majority of this debate down one question.

In a premade match, where's the line between L2P and banned jumps? Is there one?

I don’t think it’s a matter of the jumps themselves or how easy they can be, but rather how they can be abused and relied on too much. I’ve encountered FC’s jumping with earthbind totems, alongside multiple hunters or warrior hamstring. Sure, we are all awesome players, but it can take you all day to return a flag like that if you’re out numbered.

Ive encountered allys with 8 healers, it was annoying too. Just because something is annoying doesnt make it against rules.

Use free action pot If you are getting slowed

Just do it like the TC. Make a video with all allowed jumps. Anything not in it isnt allowed.

It's just upsetting, so I suppose I am complaining. Or maybe just venting, either way I had gotten excited over an authentic classic experience and time and time again its been obvious that's not going to happen. Luckily what was also drilled in on my three days back is that the rules are sure topsy-turvy so maybe some individual guilds will agree to allow them in premade content. Pugging for the most part I'm fine wth giving up jumps in, though it will simplify the kiting routes quite a bit.

Trust me when I say that back in the day some of the more obvious exploits were reported and Blizzard only did something about it rarely, if ever. One had no choice but to learn the jumps, or put someone in position to regrab when the efc was in an unreachable spot just to bait him down. Now that the microscope is on Classic as the definitive World of Warcraft experience, it seems there is more attention being paid to these reports. I doubt they will fix the terrain legitimately (their GY move down etc in later expansions was a total failure imo) but they can react to tickets when people are obviously exploiting.

I do agree that certain spots like top of tunnel and stumps are more about Super Mario skills than anything else. Any class and race can do them.

Blizzards would ban people but GMs had to witness it and they usually took awhile to respond to the ticket...but if they witnessed it, flag would drop and perma ban.

blizzard really didn't have the time or patience to try and govern twinkers back then. They'd really only act if they got a bunch of reports on one person that was using out of bounce or portal glitches to extend games indefinitely. I genuinely feel that blizzard still wouldn't care but with the ease of reporting now it makes it pop up on their radar more frequently. Everyone's all worried about equality this and that, but real game developers will spend decades balancing a game and be unsuccessful. The end result is shit like retail where every class can do everything as well(more or less) as every other class.

I saw it coming when there was a 5man blood dk team in 5v5 rated, and they stayed in the top 10 for a huge portion of the xpac.

All this just because of a few well timed button mashes that can be put into a macro and programmed into a mouse/keyboard.

Curious, is on top of the logs on the horde roof considered okay? I have not ran across that one before until today.

Dunno how others feel.. and kind of don't care... pets can't path there and I've been in a couple games that were prolonged upwards of 20 minutes because of that jump... I'd say it's much more of an obvious exploit than the others.

Gotta love the "i don't know how to press spacebar + w at the same time" so i better go complain on forums mentality.

IMO it's only safespotting if no one is able to attack you... some people say that the logging cart besides horde GY is safespotting, which is fucking nonsense, just get a hunter to go offense instead of your 3 noob rogues in stealth who cant hit a single jump or use their brain to autoattack me through the cart.

Regarding the newfound roof log jump, ofc that is safespotting since no one can attack you because LoS, not even a hunter can.

But staying on top of horde portal isnt a safespot anymore, since you can just get hunters/ranged on offense.

If we really consider all this shit "safespotting" then middle level of tunnel is also safespotting since pets/melees can't attack you if they can't jump.

Allow all jumps and just get gud imo... kind regards fiftysixk stonespine eu.

Qq moar and get fcked mate. Jumps are ok safespotting is lame. Face your actions and remember it's just a game.

Same thing happened on EU. We are now a couple of players that won't hesitate to chain report every single game a player that exploits safespotting.

And if needed I'll even create a hordie and tag along so I can ruin it from the other side if that's the only option.

Ok, now there seems to be pic of gm saying going tot isn't ok. I didn't want believe this to be true but it seems blizzard wants to kill any good there is left of the game. If they start banning people for regular tot jumps that every race and every class can do there is no point playing this anymore.

ps. i have reported ppl for actual safespotting where people can't hit FC, blizz didn't do shit during 1.5 hour game with multiple people reporting and same guy did same stuff in later matches.

Anyone who expects to get some final definitive answer on this will take it to their grave. We all know the truth. GMs are completely inconsistent and often straight up ignorant about most things concerning twinks. They don't have detailed guidance on these issues, just some basic definitions of 'exploiting'. Anything that is in the grey area could easily be deemed bannable by one GM and completely OK by another.
