Why would I sell my daughter to slavery, sounds like you don't know anything about history. Both sides had slaves moron, Your probably the same one who thinks Obama is right about saying climate change causes terrorism or some retarded crap like that. You've been watching too much ComministNewsNetwork to think slavery only happened to one race. Heck, almost every race was put through slavery, ever heard of the slavs? Slaverys been around since Ancient Greece but no ones is telling them to ban their flag etc. should probably educate yourself on history before making bs assumptions.

Plus those two articles you linked are propaganda...

Looks like you are not only uneducated in the realms of biology, you also have issues understanding global issues and the context in which they are being linked. Obama doesn't think climate change causes terrorism, he thinks that climate change is just as important of a global issue as terrorism. People like you are unable to think critically or rationally and are easily swayed by hate mongering right wing political machines like Fox news. The difference between you and me is that although I do not believe you should be able to vote in this country, I will still defend your right to do so. You on the other hand are content with discriminating against those that differ in political views and openly support acts of discrimination against minorities that may have the same rights as you.

This right here is also a problem with religious people... with science, we constantly strive towards finding out the answer. Are there holes in the theories? Yes. But we strive to find the answers to fill those holes.

Seems like religious people and I diverge from you here: I've yet to find any scientific knowledge that provides any direction besides furthering a civilization which will eventually disappear, any security in the face of death, or any worldview besides annihilationism / materialism / hedonism. Modern technology gives us new playthings, modern medicine extends lives, covers up pain with pleasant feelings or at least numbness, but so what? We still have to die. That's where I haven't seen science replace belief / faith. I'm looking to be convinced, but no one's biting.

Gonna bring these scientifically-minded guys into the mix - Roboartist and Tiger. I'll beat this horse til you ignore me, cuz mostly all I've been around are scientific liberals, and I'm trying to let that go or find some reason to take it up.

Do you remember or care about what you were doing before you were born? If not then I don't see why you should care what happens after you die. I don't need to have faith in a God, I have faith in the good side of humanity, my family and my friends. These are real, tangible things that I can see. When you come to terms with the fact that you ceased to exist before you were born and will cease to exist after you die, you cherish life a lot more than someone who banks on the fact that if they live life a certain way they will go to a fairy vacation paradise.

I also place no faith in a creator God. I do not, however, make the assumption that my birth was the beginning for me. If I were to make that assumption, then I might make the assumption that my death will be the end for me.

What I'm asking is, why should I adopt and share scientific theories, models, assumptions, viewpoints, and ways of thinking? I find that scientifically-minded people can be nearly as militant as religious ones, which is why I've thus far avoided both camps. Why should I support and vote for scientific funding and scientific education? What is the value, when both my life and our civilization are doomed to end? Most everyone already cherishes life, with or without scientific thinking.

Yeah your right, right wing voters are war mongers /sarcasm...when Hitlery Clinton(still under FBI investigation)hid emails about Benghazi, lied about being under fire in the Middle East, and agrees with socialist Bernie sanders who also happens to believe that climate change causes terrorism. You probably also believe that gun free zone stickers help keep the US safe when in reality that's not true. Liberals are so detached from reality they keep drinking that CommunistNewsNetwork koolaid and keep thinking that communist gun control, bs climate change, and hiding emails/deleting them are all ok. So before you start saying right wing voters shouldn't vote, perhaps you should consider the fact that the democrats running for office are a bunch of clowns that don't have the slightest fundamental understanding about the economy. And I think it's funny how you automatically assume right wing people are anti minority when in fact the republicans are currently leading in the minority vote. Might want to educate your self a little more about political affiliation also seeing as how the KKK party affiliation in their prime was predominantly democratic also.

hmmm

your conflating science and philosophy. let's compare:

"Philosophy is the study of the general and fundamental nature of reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language."

"Science[nb 1] is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the Universe."

Sure dude, all the minorities wanna vote for trump, just like all the slaves wanted to fight to defend slavery.

Lol, I've been answering questions left and right, barely got any answers from evolutions that had a clue what religion consists of. I should have worded my question better but still, everytime an evolutionist doesn't know the answer they just say it takes time or give it time etc which still bleats the question, it's been billions of years according to evolutionists, why hasn't there been several big bangs creating life that have been proven and even recently?

Well the big bang is perceived as the beginning of our universe. There could very well be other occurrences out there beyond the stretch of the expanding universe, but that is speculation at its finest, rather than something based on what we have found.

While I agree with your first post up on the top, I don't believe the owner is racist considering his rights/beliefs are covered under the constitution (just like everyone else's is). That's the beauty of having freedom though, if I wanted to build a house for the homeless, but rejected people if they had enough money to buy a house, would I then be called selfish? The store owner has a right to display what he wants on his store, heck, if I saw a Muslim owner put "no non Muslims allowed", I wouldn't care, that's his right, and that's what freedom grants us as a population as it may cause problems, but that's the way it is.

so let me get this straight....

if your beliefs are covered under the constitution they aren't racist? my dear sir, the constitution protects you and everyone else right to be a racist, bigoted, sexist, homophobic (feel free to add adjective) asshole as long as it doesn't impose on other peoples rights.

just for kicks, muslims aren't actually a race, it's a religion people...

I'm giving away free popcorn to anybody that's just watching this, rather than getting involved. Meet me in Goldshire, I'll try to save a seat.

We're all going to die. I'd rather live knowing what is actually going on around the world and the science behind it instead of blindly assuming its God doing everything.

Just because someone is allowed to act this way under the Constitution, it doesn't make it okay. As someone who believes in God, I thought you would have agreed with that. Jesus said that the two most important commandments are to love God and to love one another. The guy from the store isn't loving Muslim people. Instead, he is showing them hate and encouraging others to do the same. This kind of thing only further fuels the current discrimination against Muslim people in today's society.

Let's just call it what it is: the White Cracker Tryna Keep a Brother Down flag. Crossed whips would have been more appropriate than crossed stars...

A few see it that way, the minority of Americans actually. While others view it in a different light.

so your saying the bible failed to present a conversion table for your hypothetical, unsubstantiated alternate timeframe?

If you take note, I have not mentioned that.

again...no, it's called conservation of energy, you can't "create" it with an explosion.

Technically, in my example, energy is released or converted. As energy can not be "created". But, as I have learned over the years on TI, you need to simplify models for many members of TI. One cannot presume everyone will understand the jist of your examples. That is why I try and avoid examples as much as possible. TI's membership democraphic varies wildly.

hmmm.

the confederacy armed black slaves as a last-ditch attempt to save a lost war. it's called desperation. oh, did i mention they were slaves before becoming soldiers? they didn't "fight for the confederacy" they were pressed into service.

the first slave owner of record (who actually knows who the "first slave owner" was) was not black although some conservative blogs refer to Anthony Johnsohn as one of the first slave owners. He was one of the first black slave owners, the distinction being the word "black".

could care less about some flag, covered by 1st amendment anyways.

I would be willing to bet the "first" slave owners were Africans, as in Egypt. In fact slavery is still in wide use in most of the world today, including Africa.
At any rate, the US only had slavery for 85 years. Slavery was abolished over 154 years ago in the US. Get with the times people.

Actually in the land of fruits and nut(California) it is illegal to sell a Conferderate flag believe it or not!

If he was so worried about climate change why did he go to Paris when he could have just video conferenced in. Do you have any idea how much greenhouse gases his entourage spewed out going to and fro to that thing? All of those leaders could have video conferenced. They SHOULD have. Make a difference! BE the the difference.

You didn't mention a conversion table, that's true, just the unsubstantiated hypothesis part. my point is that you may as well have said 4000 years = 5 snow bunnies.

"Technically" you said...

Well, let's see...
Any explosive material technically "creates"'energy when it "blows up".
Even the Sun is one gargantuan explosion.

/cheers

The "gist" seemed to be that things that blow up "create" something. grenades, suns etc. the big bang however centers around a singularity, a phenomenon that has no real-life analogy and does not follow the laws of physics as we currently understand them.

who were you planning to bet with?

let's see, i'm responding to a statement that the first slave owner in the US was black, something that isn't difficult to refute. Why would you recontextualize my response to refer to all human history.
