Yes I do believe it, just like how you believe some fairy skygod created everything then asked everyone to worship him or go to hell. Your fairyskygod is one sick fucker.

So if man on earth can create things, why would it be irrational to believe that God could create the universe? Seems more rational than something blowing up and creating things. Also, eternal life>science theories that talk about people transforming from apes

Does anyone ever convince anyone else by belittling their beliefs?

What's the benefit, what's the point, what's the change in daily life to say, "the universe is 13.8b yrs old"? What's the benefit in believing in a creator God? Yapah FrozenWill

ps, FrozenWill, I think the consensus among physicists is that explosions no longer create stuff because the models they use to describe things (like explosions) now don't apply back then.

Good question, like stated above you gain eternal life in heaven for accepting God, (believing in him is just the first step as it means you have faith). You understand why people were made in Gods image (not from apes), and ultimately you form a relationship with God (through prayer). But each religion is different of course, just like not every evolutionist is on the same terms/ beliefs etc

All those are benefits from a Creator God, not from the belief in one, which is what I was asking about. What you gave hinges on the truth of a creator God, which isn't going to convince someone who doesn't already believe (like me).

WWII, japanese, concentration camps..

it's actually pretty horrifying to watch things go in this direction again. It is so, SO easy to generalize the muslim community when everything you see in the news is directing your attention directly to the extremists(who, yes, SHOULD be fuckin firebombed) but many many completely innocent muslims have, and will, suffer for it.

If you have no faith in something that you think doesn't exist (with proof by seeing with your own eyes) than you aren't religious. Which is why I said in the other comment before this one, having faith is the first step. But, if you are able to believe lets say evolution, as they teach the world is billions of years old, people came from apes, the Big Bang happened, than you in fact believe something you have not seen, but you accept it to be true because someone told you or that's just how you were brought up (it's a theory which hasnt been proven). Having faith and believing in something are completely different when looking at things in a religious perspective. For instance, religious people understand that satan believes God is real, but believing that God is real won't get you saved and grant you eternal life. Which is why I said that accepting him does, one of the benefits of being religious.

do you believe the world is billions of years old like the other evolution nerds do on TI lmao

I was thinking of making a giant post about how and why you're wrong, but then the frustration turned into pity. I feel genuinely sorry that you've been ruined by everyone who "taught" you how the universe works. I really hope that one day you'll come to your senses, hopefully before you have children, so they won't be as misguided as your parents made you to be :(

If there ever comes a time in your life when you realise how misguided you once were, I hope you won't hold on to past thoughts just for the sake of not admitting a mistake. It's never too late to choose who you are, rather than being told who you are by people around you.

This has been happening hundreds and thousands of years before WW2 though, people were enslaved, Religions still had their differences but people tend to think that it began with WW2 which is incorrect.

I get that there's loads of evidence to support the theory of inflation / Big Bang, whatever, but my question remains: what's the point in accepting it? What would I gain? "The universe is 13.8b yrs old," or w/e, just doesn't affect my life in the slightest. I'm afraid you're not going to answer :( Yapah

What is there to gain from denying it? By accepting that there is no god, I can live my life for myself
rather than worshipping god.

I'm open for discussion, also, I'm sure my children will learn about evolution, just like how we learned about Islam and other religions in school. Not really sure what you have pitty for, as it's pretty obvious that religion and evolution are two completely different things lol kinda hard to agree with something that's about a polar opposite.

You cannot believe in evolution and believe the world is 4000 years old, so they are not completely different things.

FrozenWill, you list a benefit of faith in a creator God which once again hinges on his veracity. What's the benefit of belief and faith in a creator God even if "He" isn't really "The Creator"?

What keeps me from placing faith in a creator God is that if "He" created everything, he also created all the suffering.

God loves everyone, unless if you don't worship him, then fuck you, you deserve to burn in hell for all of eternity

That's the thing though, you can't say God created suffering when one believes that he is the ultimate creator.. If you make something, you have the choice wether or not to let it live or destroy it... If you don't believe in God then why would you believe he is causing suffering on people when people cause the issues, not the one who created everything. In fact, that's why people who are religious love God and form a relationship with him through prayer because had he not created us there would be nothing, no eternal life or anything for that matter.

That's how you can understand why he gave us the option for eternal life as the whole reason is to test people's faith. It's easy to just blame a god you don't think exists which is what I'm trying to say. For instance, do you blame evolution for the fact that we are here on this earth, and everything formed from a Big Bang that we will eventually die and be dust in the wind? What's the bright side of that? Anyone can say science is evil, and genetic mutations cause us to die faster, and natural selection is so random that it kills species and everyone for that matter.

If I understand you properly, you're saying a creator God created humans, and humans created suffering. If that's right, why didn't the creator God create humans in such a way that we're unable to create suffering?

I don't deny the theory of inflation / the Big Bang, and I don't accept it because I've neither seen nor been shown any benefit. I also don't accept a creator God, so, knowing that I'm with you on that, please give me an answer, if you will.

If life on Earth was perfect, there would be no need for a separate heaven. I believe that we're here on Earth to learn/grow from different experiences (good or bad).

But back on topic...

That shop owner is disgusting and only fueling the problem of racism against Muslim people. At least the article says that if he acts on trying to make his store Muslim-free, he will get in trouble with the law.

While I agree with your first post up on the top, I don't believe the owner is racist considering his rights/beliefs are covered under the constitution (just like everyone else's is). That's the beauty of having freedom though, if I wanted to build a house for the homeless, but rejected people if they had enough money to buy a house, would I then be called selfish? The store owner has a right to display what he wants on his store, heck, if I saw a Muslim owner put "no non Muslims allowed", I wouldn't care, that's his right, and that's what freedom grants us as a population as it may cause problems, but that's the way it is.
