US FIFTY - Classic Raiding done right - We need YOU!

Keep in mind that stuff now hits twice as hard in your raids, so you'll have to pump out more heals. I think the end result will be more intensive healing, but roughly the same throughput and longevity.

Are you sure about the double damage and double health of raid bosses because over the last few days people have been telling me that it has and hasnt changed can anyone confirm this?

Doing some testing. AQ10 is much harder, but still doable. We're going to be limiting invites to dedicated raiders that can really make it to the nights soon.

I agree with thelse. We should really raid this weekend to test the content. Also, vengance has been nerfed down a little. Threat is more of an issue now, I'm having single target threat problems on my blood dk, and this probably applies to fifty's tanks as well.

Ok more in depth results of last nights testing.
Lets start by talking about the first tarsh in AQ10 Quiraji Swarmguard (or something like that).
The group we used to test this raid was
Thelse-Disc Priest (now a spam flash class that can actualy spam flash heal for 2-3 minutes straight while healing 3k non crits and 7k crits)
Thirkfifty- Prot Tank (more HP, and more damage, but has lost a few moves that will make tanking more challenging, while also gaining moves that mau help)
Bows- Hunter (MOAR DAMAGE)

Initial testing on the first trash mob with just Thirk and Thelse resulted in a couple of wipes. Once I started spaming flash heal we had few problems... APART FROM THE 8K DAMAGE IN UNDER 1 SECOND. But apart from this once we got teh hang of the fight we could last until the dude died (takes about 45 seconds to down with just thirks DPS (an amazing increase in damage). Once we got the hang of this fight it was easy and the only thing that wiped us was the instant 8k damage. With Bows helping we could down this guy ina bout 15-20 seconds.. which we decided made it unefficent for testing damage taken.

Overall the health has not been affected at all with trash... however the damage has been increased... possibly by 100%. Bosses HP has been decreased by a little bit...... :) Since Blizzard finally realised that the instance is 10 man now not the 20 man it was back in vanila, however it is possible that damage has been doubled which should make boss fights very fun now.

Caster dps is still not viable, the way they changed hit had little impact on 50s hitting 60 trash and bosses, and you still require same amount of hit or even more now :(

More information coming up later, however id like to say that it is possible that Fifty will continue through these major changes and me and thirk will do all we can to keep the project together. If there are enough people online on saturday we will try a raid but I would suggest you look up Thirks armory or mine if your a tank/healer to find out what is now bis or near it.

Thanks for posting Thelse, I can't be on this weekend, however. If you manage to grab some people for testing let me know. I'm updating my gear and I should be able to hit 10k HP unbuffed with ~5% hit. I'll modify and see how it goes from there.

Pretty intrigued by this, just a few questions.
How long does the gearing process take, how hard are the raids, what classes/roles would help you the most, how many active raiders do you have, and what are the times like?

Gearing really relies on class. A holy paladin or resto shammy with almost no dungeon drops can take as little as a couple weeks, but if you're aiming at say, an arms warrior, you're going after runeblade of baron rivendare or treant's bane which have around 1-2% drop rates. The raid that I attended wasn't crazy hard, but I can't say for certain with the new changes. It's classic so the mechanics aren't calculus. You can ask thelse or thirk for more info. In terms of classes, you can't go wrong with a gnome priest or warrior, even a monk when they come out, but the fifty project is all about class diversity, and the atmosphere is very accepting of all classes. Physical dps is preferable to caster because of the insane amount of hit required, but it's still fine. Warlocks have a nice niche as banish cc/summoners, but once again it's all up to you. Hunter is the best dps I believe if you're looking to wow some of the guys. We had ten people at the last raid which was the first in a long time, so about there for now. Once we get some more momentum however we will no doubt get more people, especially once mists loses it's new car smell and people return to twinking. But anyway, we would all love to have you, I hope you decide to invest some time in project, it's a whole lot of fun.

P.S. Didn't address the times thing, did I? The last one was at 8EST and went to about midnight EST. Obviously that depends on where you live. I live in the eastern time zone (hopefully that's general enough to put on the internet, we'll find out tomorrow when my house is on craigslist) so obviously for someone in Kenya they would suck, but it all depends on location.

Edwaaardo said it all, yea if you want to contribute teh most to the project run either a Gnome-Warrior (Tank), Gnome Priest (Healer), Gnome Warlock (Banish (but hit is awful so not that fun (bet extremly usefull with our progress into MC40 and being able to banish elementals(with changes we will require a lot of banishes to handle the damage)))) :)

Realy you can run whatever you want we wont force you into a role you dont like.

Also I should point out that me and Thirk do not expect much raiding content untill a month or so into MoP when our palyers can return to the project. However during this time we will be finding new gear generating new strats and just preparing for the content. We will be trying to set up raids though just dont be upset if it dusnt happen every week.

My DPS improved by 20% with this patch. Did anyone else get a DPS improvement as well?

W/out the usage of engineering bombs on the level 60 Training Dummies:

My DPS went from 500 tops to 600 tops.

Rogues got a GIGANTIC dps boost after 5.0.4, thanks to the changes with the poisons.

I was testing out how sub changed earlier, and noticed about a 200 dps jump, from 300 to 500. Pretty huge increase.
When I looked for what may have caused it, I noticed that Deadly Poison was doing nearly half my overall dps. This came as quite a surprise, so I checked out the other specs to see if there was any dps increase in them either. Combat was still trailing in dps quite badly, doing maybe 400 max. But when I tried assasination, my dps suddenly spiked to over 800. That's without any other buffs, bombs or cds. Rogues are looking like they'll be beating hunters by quite a way during our raids in the future...

Does anyone on spinebreaker have ~300 leatherworking that could help me with the green dragonscale set and living shoulders? I have have almost all of the mats and it would be really appreciated

I'm sorry, but I just had the most traumatizing weekend of my life. I'm not going to get into details, but I'm going to be unavaiable on TI for a little while.

I'll try and be back as soon as possible.

thelse, please do what you can to forward the project and strats while I'm away, I have things to take care of in real life that supersede this project right now.

All the best,
Thirk

Just popping in to say I'm doing slightly better than I was a few days ago. I'm going to be online today for a little while, update some of my gear. Maybe see if I could push forward a bit stratwise. If thelse is on we might be able to test out my new set.
