Enhancement Shaman

I haven’t played retail in some time but I preferred haste/crit on enh but some mastery is fun with the slow weps.

isnt counter strike better than ride the lightning? I mean it might pad the meters a bit but totem is big

Yeah counterstrike does so much damn damage. It's insane.

Depends if ppl are smart enough to kill it or not ( most are not lol)

I find the damage that CS totem actually does is random. You can drop it have a hunter point blank and he takes zero. Sure most people are bad and just stare at stuff like CS totem or Psyfiend... just kill them.

Its either lag, its wonky, or too many targets makes it worthless... its not like it hits every single target in range... you would get out of a battleground with 200k damage every single time... it targets stuff randomly, it has odd ball range finding... we've all seen it shooting lighting bolts across the map before. Seems like it does more work and actually works in something like arena.

Ride the lighting adds another 200-300 to your stormstrike on the main target if there are others directly by him... its pretty good... and even if its not you still did 400 to nearby targets minimum.

Pad damage is a bad term... hitting multiple targets for 200 every stormstrike is not really bad at all.

While my experience as a caster shaman against ranged hunters mirrors yours (spotty CS damage), against melee the totem feels much more consistent. One of my favorite memories from a random BG this expansion saw me defending our flag carrier in a group of six melee, and the CS totem melted them all in seconds, prompting teammates to ask in BG chat about what the heck happened. While that's an ideal setup (high damage, low health levelers that didn't have the burst to finish off my FC so I could keep the FC alive), it showed me that the CS totem can hit at least six people at once. I did indeed reach top damage for that BG. :D

The tooltip says CS totem has a 20-yard range. I wonder if part of the reason CS performance seems spotty is that perhaps both the assailant *and* the target need to be in that 20-yard range?

Anywhere you read about it in large BGs its always the same... it acts randomly. Don't get me wrong, its cool. But, I would argue its much more about padding damage than Ride the Lighting is. For a duel or arena, sure its awesome... but, when its on the ground and you just see people taking zero damage throwing Chaos Bolts and Aimed shot, its a little off putting.

I'm sure stacking them up is also much tastier if you get into a BG and there are 3-4 shams, I mean just run around in a CS death squad I guess. I don't know if there are restrictions on if you can be hit twice from 2 different totems for casting one spell or not, etc? Maybe someone has info on that.

One of my funniest memories on my shaman so far is when a surv ( with bramble) harpooned onto me only to delete himself on my cs totem/lightning shield ( spellhance gets some pretty high ele shield damage) dude sat there for a good couple of seconds checking his damage log it was great lol.

It was like an inexperienced mountain lion trying to kill a porcupine.

Happy with my main set. Going to transfer horde to get Moks and have both Ele Force and AP enchant weapons.

Going to farm a second set to use 2agi/2stam gems in and see how it feels.

Always hated gearing, but will be worth it in the end. Hopefully I can get a day of game time from a GM again...

The Injector and the Horn are still my favorite toys ... its hard to switch them around with no stealth/out of combat... but I mean ... frost shock does 700 on a crit and lavalash does like 950 when they are both up with bloodfury and you an just nuke people.

I doubt they are BiS tho.

With a few crits from FS, storm strike, ride the lighting, lava lash and FS its possible to just global anybody with that much mastery.

Now if they will only make my stormstrike do 1300 on a crit like a hunter we will really be in business... maybe next xpac.

EnHealment Shaman update:

Got 2x stones and PoP for mana return. There is a notable increase in procs when DW, and no icd sometimes they just proc back to back and sometimes i can go twice through my mana bar without hitting a proc. It proved on my racial dranie heal, and it procs on the second half of the PVP talent that gives you a 50% heal 2 sec (or whatever) after targeting yourself with a heal spell.

The dmg when using 2 stones was surprisingly not THAT big of a fall off; this was a pleasant surprise.

Im going to fly up to Bot and farm my last trinket there and we will be good to go after that. Game time runs out in 7 days, so Iig I will see you guys in BGs w EnHealment shaman soon.

I mean you can also wear the crown of flame... you turn it on for 1 second you have a full mana bar... yeah its goofy, but I mean... 4 more heals.

Side note on gear... lot's of abilties react differently to stacking agility/verse compared to mastery... which is stupid.

Ride the lighting does more with agility/verse even though its elemental damage where as things like elemental blast/frost shock/basically all other elemental damage does considerably more with mastery... stupid hidden nonsense.
