Really cool sun thanks for sharing; Brings back memories farming Uldaman for PoDs. Can you share some photos of the gear that drops as it pertains to 39s? I haven't seen any of the scaled epics everyone talks about on the AH on my server (all the vanilla purples have level 50+ level requirements) and the wowhead interface to the scaling makes it hard to understand. From your process here it seems like it is very unlikely 39s will ever obtain scaled down purples unless they farm it like you have -- because random people doing it and putting it up on the AH are likely level 55+ and since they will loot the gear it will scale to them along with the level requirement.

another example my hunter 39 has an old, silky spider cape from RFD in my bank that requires level 40 now (surprisingly), but when I ran the instance yesterday I looted the same cape but with a required level of 39 that allows it to be equippable pretty confusing.

Yeah, it pretty much happens because mobs scale with your level now, and drop loot for you based on their/your current level. World drop epics come from pretty much the same mobs as before, but now a lot of those mobs can scale down to level 39/40. Most people who actually level through these areas tend to be in the 40s or 50s though, so it's pretty rare for someone to just stumble across a 39 epic. 49 scaled ones show up on the AH way more often, 39s you kinda have to farm to have a reasonable chance of getting them.

You want at least one or two twinks in the group looting while the high level monks kill everything.

If you go to the specific item page for one of these, right below the item it has "Item versions: Scales with level". You can check through those until you get the correct item level (39 epic armor is ilevel 50, epic weapons are ilevel 51). There really isn't an intuitive way to look through it, but the info's there if you know where to look.

does it help to farm on a 35-38 char more than a 39 or does that not increase the chance to scale it lower than 40-42(seems to be a trend on many of the blues we get)

Loot will not drop if you are lower than 35, and it seems epics don't drop till lvl 38

Does this strat also apply to 40+ blues? I tried farming the mobs in burning steppes but have only gotten lvl 40 items.

Yeah I was, had a 49 and a high level in the group as well if that changes anything.

nope as long as you are looting it is personal loot so the blues the 39 loots should be mostly below 39. you'll get a few above 39 but the last time I farmed I got about 15 blues all 39 or lower and maybe 7 that were 40-42

Also, I farmed this strat for awhile with 2 39s in the party. One got a lei of lillies and the other got a freezing band - both of them were scaled to required level 37, I don't remember the actual ilvl it scaled to off the top of my head.

What's going on here...? I haven't twinked since the BC/Wrath days in the 49 bracket. This new scaling system is weird.

There is a reason Tmorph stopped production. There's a reason Honorbuddy stopped production, etc. etc. The list goes on. Do NOT use any 3rd party methods of automated gameplay.

The new Warden that Blizzard implemented a while back near the end of Legion is super aggressive to say the least. If you have WoW running, and you have a porn tab open, Blizzard will fkn know. It's legit spyware, completely insane. It knows every RAM process you're running.

It's safer to use ingame scripts and macros, even if some of it seems "dodgy", simply because it's available ingame. It will leave you with a warning at most. I've only been warned once, ever. The most dodgy commands are behind a locked/hidden API anyways, and can't be accessed by the regular player through normal methods. It's also way harder for Blizzard to actively track and notice.

However.... there is a golden option if you are going for some automated functionlity. Hardware macros! If you have keyboard/mouse with macro keys, then these will have various settings and functions that you can make use of, as long as they are tied to ingame scripts and macros etc.
