10-19 19 Twink Boomkin Guide.

*Before I start this guide, I want to make this clear, a lot of what I am writing is in my opinion from my own experiences and I am not claiming that I am the best 19 boomkin currently. There is a lot of boomkins that are much better than me. I am merely trying to help the newer players or the less confident ones that might have the wrong impression of boomkin get a better grasp on things with a more up to date guide. As from what I noticed a lot of them seem to misunderstand their role in the Gulch especially and gear it incorrectly*

This guide covers close enough to everything you need to know as a boomkin in the 19 twink bracket both in PuG and competitive game situations. I cover Race, Talents, Professions, Gear, Addons and Macros.

Currently in the meta there is a few things to take into consideration. Double boomkin is a thing which means the majority of the time one boomkin is more mid/efc (Enemy Flag Carrier) orientated while the other one is the more FC (Flag Carrier) orientated one. It is important as a boomkin you are to some degree confident to do both and have gear sets for both regardless which one you prefer as at some point you will have to do both roles throughout the game depending on how much your team is willing to adapt to the situation. It is a lot easier for you to be prepared for both.
(this is by no means necessary a guide to FC’ing)

Race
There are 4 available to level 19 Druids.
Tauren and Troll for the Horde.
Night Elf and Worgen for the Alliance.
(It’s good to have 1 on each faction to help balance out PuGs and also so you can play wargames on both factions depending)

Night Elf Racials / Base Stats.
Nature Resistance: Reduces Nature damage taken by 1%.
Wisp Spirit: Transform into a wisp upon death, increasing speed by 75%.
Quickness: Increases your chance to dodge melee and ranged attacks by 2%, and your movement speed by 2%.
Shadowmeld: Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect.
*if you Shadowmeld at the correct time you can cancel out the effect of any ability used on you, example: If I was too Shadowmeld a Chaos Bolt about to hit me at the correct time I would take 0 damage from it. You can also meld things such as Hammer of Justices etc.*
Touch of Elune: Increases your Haste by 1% during the night.Increases your Critical Strike by 1% during the day.
Base Stats
56Intellect
46Stamina

Worgen Racials / Base Stats.
Aberration: Reduces Shadow and Nature damage taken by 1%.
Altered Form: Enables Worgens to switch between human and Worgan forms
Darkflight: Activates your true form, increasing current movement speed by an additional 40% for 10 sec.
Flayer: Skinning skill increased by 15 and allows you to skin faster.
Two Forms: Turn into your currently inactive form.
Viciousness: Increases critical strike chance by 1%.
Base Stats
53 Intellect
46 Stamina

So depending on what role you’re looking to take upon yourself more.
-Night Elf is probably better for your more mid boomkin.
-Worgen for FC’ing because you that extra sprint ‘Darkflight’.

Tauren Racials / Base Stats.
Brawn: Critical strike bonus damage and healing increased by 2%.
Cultivation: Herbalism skill increased by 15 and you gather herbs faster than normal herbalists.
Endurance: Increases your Stamina by 8.
Nature Resistance: Reduces Nature damage taken by 1%.
War Stomp: Stuns up to 5 enemies within 8 yds for 2 sec.
Base Stats
54 Intellect
56 Stamina

Troll Racials / Base Stats.
Regeneration: Health regeneration rate increased by 10%. 10% of total Health regeneration may continue during combat.
Berserking: Increases your haste by 15% for 10 sec.
Da Voodoo Shuffle: Reduces the duration of all movement impairing effects by 20%.
Base Stats
53 Intellect
46 Stamina

So depending on what role you're looking to take upon yourself more.
-Tauren gives you a little more tankiness, you have a stun to use on EFCs or potential to peel/land kills in mid. Also BiS for FC'ing no question.
-Troll if you are very mid orientated and don't really plan on doing a whole lot asides that which isn't necessarily that good as you have a lot of objective responsibility but it's not completely useless just not worth it really.

I personally am :
Night Elf on Alliance.
Tauren on Horde.

Talents
Nature's Balance

While in combat you generate 2 Astral Power every 3 sec.
While out of combat your Astral Power rebalances to 50 instead of depleting to empty.

Warrior of Elune
Instant
45 sec cooldown
Requires level 15Your next 3 Lunar Strikes are instant cast and generate 40% additional Astral Power.

Force of Nature
Instant
40 yd range
1 min cooldown
Summons a stand of 3 Treants for 10 sec which immediately taunt and attack enemies in the targeted area.
Generates 20 Astral Power.

All of these can be useful in situations but my preferred one is Nature's Balance. I always have a surge up instantly in mid, always generating astral power in combat and I am also guaranteed a surge when I go for a restealth and open on EFC.
As stated, all useful in different situations, but you will want to run Nature's Balance for PuGs and Competitive games.

Professions.
Engineering : Essential for Multiple BiS pieces - No question you need Engi.
Alchemy : Best for PuGs as you can get 'Alchemist's Flask' - Which has unlimited uses giving you 8 intellect.
( These are both the best in my opinion and I would advise you to use both if necessary, I personally use Engi only. )

The Gearsets you will need.
FC Pre 6 stacks set (Minor Speed ETC)
FC after 6 stacks hit.
EFC goes set (Very Glass cannon to get out as much damage as you can on Goes – seen people run as little as 920 hp with 1 of these)
‘Mid’ Set – Just your comfortable set getting the most bang for your buck in mid.

Best in Slot Gear.
This will not include grandfathered pieces of gear or enchants.

Head : Green Lens of the Aurora
( 10 Versatility 8 haste )

Neck : Eternal Amulet of the Redeemed
Enchant : Mark of Hidden Satyr

Shoulders : Lasting Feralheart Spaulders
Enchant : Greater Inscription of Faith

Cloak : Cape of the Brotherhood
Enchant : Greater Intellect

Chest : Armor of the Fang
Enchant : Glorious Stats

Bracers : Vigorous Bracers of the Aurora ( 3 Vers 2 Haste )
Enchant : Stats

Gloves : Gloves of the Fang
Enchant : Glove Reinforcements

Belt : Belt of the Fang

Legs : Leggings of the Fang
Enchant : Medium Armor Kit

Feet : Footpads of the Fang
Enchant : Tuskarr's Vitality

Ring : Advisor's/Lorekeeper's Ring.
Enchant : Gift of Versatility

Ring : Tumultuous Ring of the Aurora (3vers 2 haste)
Enchant : Gift of Versatility

Trinket : Discerning Eye of the Beast

Trinket : Discerning Eye of the Beast

Main Hand : The Blessed Hammer of Grace
Enchant : Elemental Force

Offhand : Musty Tome of the Lost / Mystic's Sphere ( BoE )
Enchant : Major Intellect

* The Bracers, Ring and Weapons can all be replaced by items from ' Crate of Battlefield Goods ' awarded for winning a random Battleground
You can get the same stats as random dungeon ones for the bracer and ring or you can get 1 off stat pieces such as Haste or Versatility with 5 of that stat.
The weapons ( both main hand and offhand ) also come from the BG crate also with 1 stat or you can get any combination of versatility haste 3-2 3-1 2-2 4-1 ( also the other way around ) or just 4 of 1 offstat. *
* I didn't include any of the green BoEs with same stats because I just feel it's not worth it, no matter how bad your RNG is, the green weapons from BG crate also give same stats as the blue ones, but no other green piece gives same stats as blue ones.

-That is just a generic mid set, you can probably customize it a little if you really like, possibly run versatility on your boots instead of minor speed, possibly run 3 spell power on your gloves, but that is what I prefer to run whenever I'm in mid.

EFC goes set.
This is a glasscannon set I have on my EU druid, with a few pieces I don't have.
You need this set for whenever you go around to the EFC and are going to open, you sacrifice alot with this set, you might want to pick up a berserker buff for that extra 30% damage.

Head : Spellpower Goggles Xtreme Plus

Neck : Eternal Amulet of the Redeemed
Enchant : Mark of Hidden Satyr

Shoulders : Preened Ironfeather Shoulders
Enchant : Greater Inscription of Faith

Cloak : Sanguine Cape
Enchant : Greater Intellect

Chest : Armor of the Fang
Enchant : Glorious Stats

Bracers : Forest Leather Bracers
Enchant : Greater Spellpower

Gloves : Gloves of the Fang
Enchant : Major Healing

Belt : Belt of the Fang

Pants : Leggings of the Fang
Enchant : Medium Armor Kit

Boots : Footpads of the Fang
Enchant : Greater Versatility

Ring : Advisor's/Lorekeeper's Ring.
Enchant : Gift of Versatility

Ring : Tumultuous Ring of the Quickblade ( 3 vers 2 crit )
( later replace this with the BG crate one with raw versatility )
Enchant : Gift of Versatility

Trinket : Discerning Eye of the Beast

Trinket : Discerning Eye of the Beast

Mainhand : Discontinuer's Hammer
( Later Replace with BG crate of Versa )
Enchant : Spellpower

Offhand : Mystic's Sphere
Enchant : Major Intellect

- You can also look for ' Jagged Star ' on AH which has the same stats as you can roll a BG crate mace with, asides the 1 stat ones.
This set is the most glass cannon as you can get without including Gf'd items and I tried to limit as many BoEs as I could that are hard to find with correct stats etc. Mystic's Sphere being the only exception because not a lot of items are as good as it.

FC before 6 Stacks
Head : Masters Engineers Goggles

Neck : Eternal Amulet of the Redeemed
Enchant : Mark of the Heavy Hide

Shoulders : Preened Ironfeather Shoulders ( Crit > Haste in FC set IMO )
Enchant : Greater Ox Horn Inscription
( BiS = Forest Leather Mantle, Prospector's Pads + Enchant Heavy Knothide Armor Kit )

Cloak : Sylvan Cloak
Enchant : Gift of Versatility

Chest : Greater Adept's Robes
Enchant : Glorious Stats

Bracers : Vigorous Bracers of the Quickblade ( 3 versa 2 crit )
( Replace this with BG of Quickblade 4versa 1 crit or with good RNG 1 stat 5 Versa )
Enchant : Major Stamina

Gloves : Scouting Gloves of the Quickblade ( 4 vers 3 crit )
Enchant : Glove Reinforcement

Belt : Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt

Pants : Scouting Trousers of the Quickblade
Enchant : Ironscale Leg Armor

Feet : Scorched Blazehound Boots
(Replace with 1 Stat Versa 1s from BG crate)
Enchant : Minor Speed
( Grab a second Pair of these and enchant with Fortitude for when 6 stacks hit)

Ring : Lorekeeper's/Advisor's Ring
Enchant : Gift of Versatility

Trinket : Defending Champion
Trinket : Returning Champion
(If you don't have these just use the Heirloom Insignia of the Horde and Inherited Mark of Tyranny)

Mainhand : Discontinuer's Hammer (If you're already using this for EFC Goes Set use the BG crate one of the Quickblade)
( Later Replace with BG crate of Versa )
Enchant : Heartsong

Offhand : Mystic's Sphere
Enchant : Major Intellect

Now UI Macros and Addons.

Essential Addons

Battleground Enemies - Allows you to see the opposing team by clicking the different names on it.
OmniBar - Allows you to track cooldowns, but I usually use it for kicks only so I can see if I juked the kick so I can free cast.
Enhancebattlefieldminimap - Allows you to adjust the size of your 'Shift+M' Map.
NameplateCooldowns - Shows the cooldowns of enemy players above their head.

( I did use Dr Tracker but since Rogue isn't meta or hpala I don't really need it anymore as I don't have to worry about DR'ing my stomp)

Optional Addons
Hidehotkeys - Hides the Letter/Number of your Keybind.
Details - Shows everything DPS / Damage Done / Healing Done / Interrupts / CC ETC.
Gryphons Remover - Removes Gryphons from your Bars.
sArena - Allows you to move the EFC Frame to where it suits you.
Weakauras - Just to help me track how long left on my 'Empowerments' ( the Increased Speed/Damage for Lunar Strike and Solar Wrath after you Starsurge )
DejaCharacterStats - Shows Stats you couldn't find on the default Character Panel - Such as Movement Speed.

Macros
/cast [target=focus] Starsurge

/cast [target=focus] Solar Wrath

/cast [target=focus] Lunar Strike

/cast [target=mouseover,help][help][target=player] Regrowth

/cancelaura Horde Flag
/cancelaura Alliance Flag
/cast Prowl

The last macro including the flags and Prowl allows u to prowl and drop flag without having to right click it where your buffs are.
Not a lot of macros to use at level 19 so I just have Focus Cast Abilities and Mouseover Heal.

Openers
*In Middle I usually just spread my dots and listen to our target caller on his target by putting his target on Focus.
Casting potentially a Starsurge and a Solar Wrath into it ( in this Rotation you get the Empowerment Buff on your Solar Wrath from Starsurge ). The one piece of advice I would give is to not underestimate the " Empowerment " you get from casting Starsurge into a target. The 20% DMG on Lunar strike and also the 10% on Wrath is huge in a lot of situations.
*Without the Empowerment Proc I don't tend to cast Lunar Strike but can be used in some scenarios I guess where people are stacked as it does have an AoE effect.
*When opening on an EFC from stealth it is not worth dotting him instantly in the majority of situations, you could potentially argue that dotting him as your first spell goes off is viable, I personally don't do it, as he could run from your other casts.
My ideal opener would be Solar Wrath -> Starsurge -> Solar Wrath -> Lunar strike - So you get your first cast off aswell as a Surge in with 2 Empowered casts too.

•I have 3 of everything i need to track so it's easier to know when they're off CD and if I have them.
•Healthstone
•Trinket
•Warstomp
•Dash
•Also Prowl at the bottom so I know if I've dropped combat or not.
•All my focus macros / battle standard / Bandage are on a seperate action bar you can't see.
•I don't track battle standard as I usually only get to use it once per game anyway.
•I have my gear sets bound on another bar also.
•I have revive on a bar too because clutch plays can be made so don't forget about it.
•Also don't forget Growl in bear form you can taunt rogues to keep them in combat or taunt pets off people to help them get restealths without breaking Polymorphs or possible other CC.

*Anymore questions please ask below, I might update this if I look back and see any mistakes I made or anything I left out.

Good stuff. I'd suggest going back and linking things to wowhead for convenience (when you have time). Few gear comments inline.

EFC goes set.
This is a glasscannon set I have on my EU druid, with a few pieces I don't have.
You need this set for whenever you go around to the EFC and are going to open, you sacrifice alot with this set, you might want to pick up a berserker buff for that extra 30% damage.

Chest : Dark Leather Tunic
Enchant : Glorious Stats

Gloves : Bright Gloves
Enchant : Major Healing

Belt : Keller's Girdle

Pants : Dark Leather Pants
Enchant : Medium Armor Kit

Boots : Dark Leather Boots
Enchant : Greater Versatility

While this set is certainly got the glass, it actually is less cannon than the full fang set. Looking at only these 5 slots and ignoring enchants, this set gives 44 int and 6 verse. Full fang gives 48 int and 9 verse (as well as tons of stam and some crit/haste) - making it actually more damage than the glass cannon set. You need some GF'd gear (inferno robe) to make it better. So grab a second set of fang pieces to enchant. Side note, you can also enchant Dark Leather Pants with Ironscale to mitigate a bit of the squish if you do go that way.

Mainhand : Discontinuer's Hammer

While discontinuer's hammer isn't bad, its horde only. Its worth noting you can find green 1h BoE maces with 3 verse, and the jagged mace has the slightly higher melee damage for the extremely rare situation you end up hitting someone in the face. Keeping an eye on the AH until you get decent BG drops is a good option.

Also, for the FC/stacks set, coastal surge (the new bfa healing enchant) might be an option.

Shoulders : Rugged Spaulders ( Cannot Enchant this at Level 19).
( BiS = Forest Leather Mantle, Prospector's Pads + Enchant Heavy Knothide Armor Kit )
[/QUOTE]

Prospector's Pads don't go below 20 AFAIK. The heirloom shoulders with a +2 stam/+1 dodge enchant may be better than rugged spaulders until you find forest leather mantle.

Also don't forget Growl in bear form you can taunt rogues to keep them in combat

Don't you have moonfire in bear to do that for longer range, no cooldown, and a dot? Taunting pets is good enough reason to keep it handy tho.

Overall great stuff. Perhaps go over a few ideal burst combos as well for a few common situations. Perhaps mid with full star power and opening on EFC from stealth.

*Anymore questions please ask below, I might update this if I look back and see any mistakes I made or anything I left out.

Great initiative!

Ngl, I thought this would be a troll post, lmao.

Good stuff. I'd suggest going back and linking things to wowhead for convenience (when you have time). Few gear comments inline.

Prospector's Pads don't go below 20 AFAIK. The heirloom shoulders with a +2 stam/+1 dodge enchant may be better than rugged spaulders until you find forest leather mantle.

Don't you have moonfire in bear to do that for longer range, no cooldown, and a dot? Taunting pets is good enough reason to keep it handy tho.

Overall great stuff. Perhaps go over a few ideal burst combos as well for a few common situations. Perhaps mid with full star power and opening on EFC from stealth.[/QUOTE]
- Will do when I have time.
- My friend and I miss calculated this actually and for some reason gave our set 10 additional intellect, my apologies.
- Was trying to limit the amount of BoEs with RNG I was using but Edited that in also.
- That Enchant is banned from TC.
- 3 Versa vs 2 Stamina enchant is a tough call but I just added in yours.
- Prospectors do go down to level 16, I have a pair equipped in my druid in signature, same stats as forest leather mantle.
- Edited in more Detail on Growl and also openers.
Ty!

aren't you supposed to give gameplay tips in a guide? xd

quack only made 1(one) mistake in all of legion

i wont link the clip, but that is an insane record

Legit added in openers and how to give boomkins the most bang for their buck aswell as what they're generally meant to do in a game in both PuGs and wargames. Idk if you're blind or trolling.

Quite the guide there!

Maybe something to go back to in the future, but having the URL links to all the items mentioned would make your guide perfect!
Definitely just was tired yesterday after making sure I had all the sets correct and had everything down I wanted.
Ty though.

Mouseover/cleartarget dot spread macros could be useful for balance druids at well.
"/castsequence [target=mouseover] moonfire, sunfire"
makes mass spread extremely easy. I also do think [enchant cloak - gift of X] Enchants are very useful before 6 stacks as well for the 2%+ speed bonus

I don't like mouseover macros really asides dispell / heal.
I also use gift of versa for my FC set pre stacks but not for my mid set.
Ty for the feedback though.
