Make sure your spec selected can loot the Trinket. Apart from that it's just RNG being RNG, nothing more than a bad luck streak. No need to overthink it.

Those are the best professions to have yes. Alchemy gives you a wide variety of Potions thanks to the regional AH market for crafting materials (ridiculously cheap), and the permanent primary stat flask at 300 classic Alchemy. Then Engineering has all the fun gadgets/tinkers.

Tabard of the Argent Crusade was always a fun and easy tabard to obtain on twinks. You kill undeads in EPL in Corin's Crossing. Takes about an hour to have enough rep to buy and equip the tabard. You will need another account to kill the mobs though as they are mid 50s. Then you can dive deeper...

Follow the WOD quests and you will unlock your Garrison. Are you vet or f2p? The questline Chromie Time WOD throws you in is just a few quests away from unlocking the Garrison.
