World Drop Farming Compendium (ilvl 28 BoEs)

I'm not real fly with forums but the tooltip it shows me on my last post is the same as on my toon. il26 req lvl20.

So @Brilliant and I have been farming classic zones together, and trying different things out. Here is what we have found out:-

  • we farmed 10k~ Silithus hyperspawn and received 0 epic drops.
  • we farmed 50k~ Burning Steppes hyperspawn and received 0 epic drops.
  • we consulted other farmers and believe that 400k+ Silithus kills have been achieved with 0 epic drops. Some reported believing classic epics are now GF. This is not true: read on!
  • we farmed Blasted Lands rares with 2x High level & 2x Level 17 chars (THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT).
The Flawless Spheres can be traded/mailed to a Level 17 to be handed in and opened. In total we farmed/bought 350 Spheres.

Every single chest you open is guaranteed to give you at LEAST 1x Blue items. Here is the route we used to farm the rares:

https://imgur.com/Cvu64eH

In total we looted 5 epics from 350 boxes. We think the loot rules are as follows:-
  • Armor scales to level
  • Weapons scale to 18 and CANNOT scale to 20. Looting on anything higher than a 17 will result in 20+ epic weapons.
These are the epics we received at a rate of 70 chests:1 epic:

We believe that the ONLY epics you can get from this method are from the following list. This is judging from wowhead comments, our own farm and word of mouth:

Bare in mind that this farming method is used by level 60s to get rare blue transmogs. So some realms are heavily farmed.

The next thing @Brilliant and I are working on is another Classic zone hyper spawn that has given us a lot of high-end blues, including this helm, but no epic yet. We looted this about 4 days ago on a level 17. It is not a GFed drop. Hopefully we will be able to share more information in the coming weeks on our findings. Ultimately we are hoping to find a Skullflame/Destiny/Hand of Edward the Odd location. The ONLY definitive proof of looted epics we have seen since Shadowlands are from the above list.

incredible work guys! Really top notch info. Thanks for compiling it!

Does this mean you can only get weapons on a 20? Or the chance is just higher?
If you stopped paying (thus can't trade) is it pointless to farm these on your level 20? 0% chance to drop armor? Or just reduced chance?

Drops armor pieces just far and few inbetween. Also there's not really many if them thats all that worth. On a 20 youll get req 23 weps and probably req 20 armor. Cannot confirm since ive only gotten a weapon at 20.

I guess Freezing band might be one of the few that could be interesting on certain classes.

Your sample sizes are an amazing effort in themselves - thanks for sharing all of this.

Thanks a lot for showing the method, I am hoping to one time maybe manage to get a Blackskull Shield, though so far I only got a 21 weapon (Yes, ik they don't scale to level)

An alternate Highmountain farming spot for ilvl 28 greens - Mightstone Flankers and Mightstone Slingers at 54, 63. Nice little spot just outside of Thunder Totem with a repair vendor close by.

Aslo, if you are looking for Legion Invasion farming for the +7 Fire Relic, the WQ in the northeast of Azuna (I think it's the Thaz'gul quest?) is an excellent spot.

A really noob question:

Say, I have a party of a level 20 and a level 24. They are somewhere on Broken Isles, the level 20 stays, the level 24 runs around and kills mobs. Whatever level 24 loots is going to have a chance to proc ilvl 28 greens. But whatever level 20 loots is going to be lower ilvl, correct?

I ask because I remember seeing something about additional level 20s in the party being beneficial for farming, but I cannot figure out what the benefit is exactly.
[doublepost=1619441951,1619441594][/doublepost]Found it:

to clear things up:
your character level (clvl) doesn't directly effect the drops' item level (ilvl), it's the mob's level that scales it. (it just so happens that your clvl effects the mob's level)
that's why lvl 20 toons can still loot 19/28s in Drustvar/Nazmir, because the mobs are a minimum level of 25.

So, the level 20 will indeed be looting ilvl 28s. Because the mobs will be killed by the level 24 and will be level 24 themselves. Great.

The level 20, will get lvl 14 ilvl 22 drops. In lvl 20 10-20 zones. Req 19 ilvl 28 in zones where the req level floor is 25. Req lvl 29 ilvl 38 in where the floor is 35 etc.

Hi everyone, in the last two days I have followed the method described here
I have obtained about 20 Flawless Draenethyst Sphere and sent them to a level 17 character.
I found the Precisely Calibrated Boomstick.
As a further confirmation of the theory that the only epics that can be obtained with this method are those of the list.
I would like to apologize for any grammatical errors I may have made.

ilvl 28 BoE necks, rings and cloaks with sockets are pretty rare or am I doing something wrong?

I'm farming mostly Legion spots with 2 level 24s and (thanks to all the information in this thread) I'm getting plenty of everything else i.e. cloth, leather, mail, plate and trinkets with sockets plus relics.

Yes they are the rarest drops as each farm spot will only drop one type. They sell for a lot more than other armor pieces.
