Or get a high level to run your twink through with the chance that it may drop for the high level.

Issue is that monk could get a level 60 shadowfang. 5 twinks should be able to clear it fast no problem.

Has there ever been a confirmed Shadowfang drop from chests? I'd rather farm it solo on my 120 monk going through chests than finding 5 other people to share the loot with when it drops. I kept reading contradicting statements, some say it does drop and others say it doesn't because it's not a world drop (what chests contain).

No, zone chests dont drop instance specific blues. Anyone that says they do dont have half a brain.

You can still get a sf but itll just scale up to 60.

After a lot of review I don't think the time/money investment into SF is really worth it. I'm Horde too and as much as I'd want to try for it, it'll take us forever when Bronze Shortsword is pretty close in terms of output. A 7 damage bolt isn't going to make or break it, really. I'm having a much harder time trying to farm the Gurubashi trinket, lol..

True its close to the shortsword but the bolt itself isnt what makes it good. Im pretty sure the bolt triggers eleforce and satyr within the rppm (or whatever the acronym is) so it ends up being pretty noticable.

Ys and no.. Sfang proc can trigger them, however, the issue comes to getting the proc. It has a horrible proc rate, and the only way to actually notice it is with double sfang. However, then you will lose your Bg blue MH, and lose even more dmg due to a loss of weapon damage and vers. (Wep damage is important in multiple regards for rogues, not jist autos). Overall, it is not worth the hustle to farm sfang on a daily basis. Doing it in your spare time would be the bestoption, just to have it as your OH, since wep dmg does not affect much output in OH. Overall, i cannot dictate what anyone wears on a character- only inform random sort of relevant information to reply.

While the bolt can proc ele force and hidden satyr, the way rppm works is that it doesn't matter how many events happen - it will always average out to the same number of procs.
The only advantage of using a shadowfang over a bronze shortsword is the 7 damage proc and the rare case that you have a shadowbolt that travels and you can get a delayed proc when you're otherwise out of range. But thats pretty rare.
And Mcdonaldsman is right - you should probably prefer a BG crate weapon in the mainhand for higher weapon damage and verse (which increases ele force damage). Shadowfang offhand.
...unless the PTR comes to live as-is which will see ele force getting a nerf. Then I'm not sure whats going to happen to the stat priority.
