What do you do for a living?

Khaos

Dare to be Optimistic
So just as I was bumping a old post of mine regarding bordem at work I thought it would be nice to ask What people do for a living, Now I know alot of people are in school and if that is the case what classes do you enjoy?

I am personally a Patient Account Representative (Aka Financial Councilor for a hospital) Its my job to help people pay for there hospital bills, helping those who do not have insurance with state aid programs and or setting them up with a payment plan at the hospital itself. I am also the Blue Cross Blue Shield Liasion for the hospital and tech work for them aswell dealing with the contracts between all the BCBS around the country keeping the contracts up to date.

Alittle bit about my pass. Until recently (last year) I was a cook for 10+ years at various resturants finally ending up at this hospital in the kitchen and becoming a licensed Diet Aid (step below Dietitian). I found my job very fulfilling actually helping patients get good food they would actually eat to help the healing process. As I was working a Job posting came up for this position and I thought I would look into it. The person Im directly under has always praised me for my Patient satisfaction in the kitchen and he personally put a reccomendation for me to get this job even though I didnt have experience in this field.

Shortly after getting the job a Rep from BCBS (our company insurance) came to me and asked if I would be interested in working with them on keeping all the contracts straight for this hospital. In a short 6 months I have learned tons and constantly being like I am making a difference actually helping people.

So what do you do for a living?

Like I said in my description I was a cook for 10+ years, 7 of those years was in a Steakhouse where I learned great knife skills and butchering skills that I use today (when i cook great food for my family) the last 3 years of cooking was done in a 4 star resturant where I was studying under one of the biggest chefs in the midwest that was pretty awesome. But the pay sucked which lead me taking a job at the local hospital and the rest is history

Studying social science at school, if everything ends up well I'll start to study law within a near future.

Thats very impressive, I always respected people who could do that much schooling.

Im a grease monkey, i work on other peoples junk because there too lazy to learn how to do it.

Hey nothing wrong with that, I grew up in a Garage (dad owns one). And admit it you would rather people bring it to you than them attempt to fix it and mess it up all the more then makes your end so much more of a pain in the arse.

I'm just sitting out one more year of school then I'm off to study Orthodontistry. So that's 10 more years of sitting in school benches for me, yay.
