We could do more

Let me just put this out there. Gear means shit, yes it's a big part of twinking, but a good player trumps gear EVERY time. I cannot even tell you how many games I've jumped into where it's chock full of twinks on both sides, but then the 300-400 hp guy who entered at the beginning of the game, and whom everyone called "scrub", runs the flags or makes more contribution to the goals than the so called twinks busy fighting mid.

In fact. I know a few seasoned veterans, and I've even done it myself, who enter the game purposely with an underground toon and proceed to mop the floor with the dime a dozen keyboard turning so called twinks.

Gear matters yes, but the player makes it all work. My two cents.

You seem like you play melee a lot.

Caster DPS
Hunters
2k keg smash monk
1600 FoF stun
2k Feral Bites

One of these doesn't belong... lol

I wish gear didn't matter. RDruid Regrowth gets cut to a 1/3 without BoA. Caster is really unplayable without staff.

Hi everyone! Been gone a month with no internet climbing in the Himalayas (you would think being that much closer to the satellites might give you some internet, or my logic is just bad idk).

I never played AP because I made my f2p long before I knew of AP and can't be bothered to reroll. I haven't played WOD yet, but I will be soon enough. Not sure if this thread is telling people to go back to one server or not, but even tho I'm all on my lonesome, I'd be down to participate in events if they were posted on TI.

Either way, my pug-tastic self is looking forward to seeing you people on the battle field!

The thread was not to ask or encourage anyone to reroll, just wanted people to express any ideas of events to be organized since WOD is the most balanced F2P has been and therefore we should take advantage of it.

The addon is already using an invisible channel, and not using the game's chat UI.

Well, i usually don't contribute to threads with lots of arguing. but i will this time for the following reasons. First Yasueh I have been given moderator priv on more than one occasion and wondered what the heck i could do with it. Maybe i missed something in your f2p addon thread but does it say somewhere how to use the moderator privileges? If not, it would be great to have written instructions somewhere.

second, is it now possible, or could it be possible in the future to send a cross faction message? my thinking is there are times when (a person) logs in and sees a ton of others both factions are playing. but there is no way to say - hey lets all meet at (location) and do some WPvP.

Along the same lines. I have logged in lately more than usual. found lots of players (hordeside) asked to group - and gotten - chirp chirp chirp.
so that suggests that there are a smaller group of people AP that really do want community and a larger group that just prefer PUGging or just doing their own thing.

I would like to ask all those following this thread to just say YES more often. Maybe if your feeling like you want to do your own thing - great - just don't activate your f2p addon. (or maybe there is an invisible mode where you can listen but not participate for those who like to do that?).

Community is built by not responding with nonconstructive negative comments EVER. Constructive negative comments should always be accompanied by some positive comment to go with it. Show your commitment and consider it.

I didn't play WoW at all from February til about September of this year because my graphics card had died. When I decided to come back it was only because I happened to see that Rhaellia was playing, and, being my BFF and all, I simply went to play where Rhae was. More recently I have discussed with her about moving back to AP, but we have made other friends who are frankly scared of playing on AP because of the horrible reputation that -some- people keep perpetuating.

It's an uphill battle to convince people that AP can be a great place again, when folks like you (no offense) are saying how awful and un-redeemable it is out of one side of your mouth, and then berating everyone else for not fixing it out of the other. I'm asking you gently as a fellow interested party; please choose a side. If your fundamental interest is in seeing change happen, be a positive force for that change. Continuing to go on about how pointless or impossible change is, is not serving anyone's interests including your own. Be a buddy, buddy!

I think you're missing a little bit of the timeframe I'm talking about. I'm not berating people for not fixing it, I'm berating people for trying to fix it NOW, when it's far, far too late. Those are the same people that are the reason it didn't get fixed the first time around and people like Shft, myself, Mindy and so on all left. You can't deny that literally EVERYONE you played with left because of how AP became. Rhae, Earl, Shft, Mindy, Insects etc.

I have zero problems with you playing on Misha, and I'm all for it man. Play what's fun. AP isn't fun and that's my point. I have a very fundamental position that doesn't waiver. I worked my ass off just like a lot of other people to make AP what it was (and tell me I have an ego, I don't care - I know what I did), and I came back to see most of that work in shambles with only Felix and Shft attempting to do anything about it. Instead of getting help we got berated and for the most part all moved to other areas of the game (PS: Ask Rhae how bad it became @Kinkaide, maybe your BFF can give you the same perspective so you understand but he turned off his addon because of how awful it was and advised me to do the same).

Change is impossible. The future is making these small realms of friends where each group has an identity and then becoming friends with those groups. That's how the new F2P is and should be. I am always going to be against AP now because there is no salvation and asking new people to go there is just driving them away from the game.
noobinit - that post is spot on. Seriously, just say yes more often. I'll pug with just about anyone until they annoy me. Old AP was similar. I don't know if the maturity or quality is there for it to happen but this would be a big step.
Goesid - spot on, that's exactly what I was saying - perfect analogy. This thread is essentially inviting people to the Titanic based on the fact that it was nice before it hit the iceberg. Now? It's sunk.
Licholas - That's dumb. I don't care about losing at all. If I did I wouldn't be botting, pugging or any of that shit and would just premade with Ursin all day. I have fun based on the type of people I play with. I do not have fun dying 16 times on a 1100 HP mage. I don't know what makes that fun for you, but I prefer not to be useless.

Change is impossible.

As much as I respect your opinion on most things WOW, I have to take the philosophically opposite view on this: change is a constant. Things could change for the better on AP. If enough people care about it AND are willing to put the effort in, it could be like it was (or even better).

Will it be easy? No. Will it take a long time? Probably. I don't disagree with your historical account, but seeing a senior twink such as yourself frequently bringing it down won't help matters. AP hasn't sunk, it's still there waiting for a captain to get rid of the flotsam and jetsam, and set a new course.

Play what's fun.

This, in the meantime, is probably the best philosophy.

Maybe I can make a suggestion here... The issue of resuscitating Aerie Peak and the issue of getting 10v10 wargames together are two very separate issues. It's true that succeeding at the former would facilitate the latter, but it isn't necessary to do so.

I'd like to recommend that we find another avenue for discussing whether we should try to "fix" AP, since that's a relatively long-term project, and continue right now to talk about how we can organize 10v10 games right now. We have the ability, we just need the organization.

If we get people interested in doing 10v10s on a regular basis, those people are naturally going to gravitate towards whatever plans make it easier to 10v10. Specifically I mean if having a lot of people on AP would make 10v10s easier, then let's do 10v10s, and people will naturally gravitate towards one or a few servers if that significantly helps them to build a cohesive team. Let's put the carrot out there, and let the donkey worry about itself.

Furthermore, proof that we as a community have the organizational power to make 10v10s happen regularly, will go a long way towards showing whether we have the organizational power to revive a server. Let's put our organizational efforts together -right now- into something that we all believe we can do, and then reexamine the larger issue once the ball is rolling.

You know, why don we try Activate's new AP channel he made a thread about, rebuild the AP community using that?

Uniting twinks by spreading out doesn't work. On topic Kincaide Agree, let's talk about events here please.

I never left AP, just f2p as a whole. AP is not lost or worse, it's just bigger and more diverse and with that comes people from all walks of life. I think perhaps you are too quick to judge new people on Aerie Peak where once you put in a ton of effort to help new players learn; eg Noxal.

There was a point in time where someone whom I thought was one of the most clueless players I had ever seen came to Aerie Peak. Now if this was during a time with current Felix, I would venture to say this person would have been banned and with that might come a loss of respect or otherwise tainted views of Aerie Peak. I was wrong, this player just needed a little guidance. Not everyone learns at the same pace and I really don't like to see people treated poorly for a lack of knowledge or something similar. Had we been cruel to him, would we have a friend as good as Abagayle today?

A community isn't rocket surgery, I would venture to say it has to be nurtured like a child. How many people have you helped to better themselves on Aerie Peak? I would hope it is more than the number of people you have turned away based on a silly comment in the channel. One idiotic comment does not make someone an idiot. Everyone starts somewhere.

Tbh I don't really remember any such disastrous and disgusting invasion of noobs befalling AP that you guys keep talking about. I've always ascribed the "old-timers" leaving the game to the natural process of people getting on with their lives. But maybe it's just me being blind to social cues.

@wargames, I would like to contribute if I'm online.

if no one wants to take action i can set up some 10 v 10s right now, dont want any leader responsiblities but im just saying i have alot of p2ps and can make it happen

It takes a lot of time and dedication, if you feel up for it, make a thread similar to what Hunnybuns19 did with the 10v10 premade. Good luck :)

maybe some 10v10s to increase general ap activity, maybe give our new players some pointers how to get better at the game, we can try can we not?

Doesn't need to be 10v10, you can start a WSG with 5v5, you just need teams from both factions. You could also forget about flag caps and have a15 minute team deathmatch instead.

Can someone please make a thread explaining wargames vs skirmishes?

What's available to us?
What are the differences?
Do you need to be opposing factions?
Do you need full teams for either or does it not matter?
Can you do it across CRZ?
Can you have teammates across CRZ?

And then maybe highlight:
Adding people to your battletag can allow you to pst anyone across server.
You can start games with /wargame partyleadname
Any other tips and tricks.

Sadly I haven't done a ton of these. I think it would help the community get these rolling.
