Where as, on the other hand, there are other people that are totally infatuated with WoW. So much so, that when something does not go their way in a game they take videos of a person. Then they come to a website tattling on that person and posting their video that they recorded expecting to be treated as a hero of some kind of vigilante. Instead, they got quite the opposite result.

Yea that's not something "not going their way". I think people want an level playing field and absolutely should fight against people that want to cheat. We've all been on both sides of it, it sucks.

Also if you've ever had your account stolen the return process isn't as cut and dry as you make it. Just because someone doesn't want their account hacked and everything sold off doesn't mean they are "addicted" to WoW... I think that's pretty basic security needs, when you play a game you shouldn't feel like everything will be taken away at any second and you should be OK with that...

I have had my main account hacked before. It even had extra measures taken to make sure it would not be hacked.
My wife literally called Blizzard customer support and got it rectified. She actually factually talked to a real live living person. Granted, this was over five years ago.
