I explained it a bit - you bank experience as a pure free to play. When you subscribe and log in to that character, all that banked experience hits you at once. @sevenslacks7 has his level 30 achievement on his warrior - but was thankfully able to get it deleveled.

Ok so the lvl up of the char is what they mean with losing the toon. But it's not like losing progress in form of something else then.

1 acc 1 char must be very rewarding yes, very immersive, it's really your avatar in the game. Now, sticking to one spec like Vyvenem does is going hardcore on yourself, especially since he does only pve. Some bosses are way easier with BM, and Surv is the AoE.
