Remember the Treeline
That description of socialism was extraordinarily inaccurate, allybeboba. Considering your posts are normally fairly logical and fact based, I wanted to point that out.
The oldest form of government is not inherently the best - in fact, one could argue that the longer a form of government has been in place, the more outdated it will be.
Socialism does not trend towards Communism. That is actually just not even the slightest bit true, nor is it based off of any real world examples.
Communism has always been bred out of anti-colonialist movements inside of a country. Colonialism was a bi-product of Monarchy and Religious Fervor that insisted God wanted them to conquer the world in His name.
Socialism stems from the political and economic ideology that no one can succeed in a country without the help of governmental policies that allow business to flourish and the myriad of consumers within a country.
Considering that outright Laissez-Faire Capitalism fails in the most horrific and greedy fashions, and that most heavily government reliant economies fail due to some form of corruption, perhaps the best solution is somewhere in between.
But my country, the USA, is not the best at anything right now. We have gun deaths per 100k that mimic nations currently in civil war. We spend 35% more on Education than the average modern nation but consistently rank at the bottom in Mathematics and Literacy. The only thing we top the OECD lists at are our ignorance of social statistics such as teen pregnancy and unemployment rates.
I could go on. There is a lot that is wrong with our country.
I got to see it first hand when I interned at my state's government this past General Assembly session. When our elected officials are more concerned with passing unenforceable legislation that keeps some of the most masculine men from going into a men's restroom and some of the most feminine women from going into a women's restroom, but we will not institute any sort of meaningful change to the current Education System that funds school districts based off of property tax, then maybe we should be looking to European nations for help, Allybeboba.
Asking for what makes one country the greatest is a foolish question and it's logically flawed if you think it proves anything about our shared country one way or the other. It doesn't matter what country is determined to be the best by weighing and prioritizing certain indeterminate sets of criteria. What I can tell you is that the United States of America is not the greatest country in the world based off of the numerous criteria at which it merely underperforms.
Once again, the reasons for this underperformance and potential solutions are going to vary by political party and ideology. I thought I'd just try to set the rest straight.
