Actually it does matter, the shield is instant and pretty big so it gives time for other healer such as a shaman for example to get their cast of instead of the target dying before a cast can even be done. What you say isnt completely wrong because sometimes (I do this atleast idk about others) a shaman can be spamming purge on a target that will be a swap target to get that bubble gone instantly.

Naturally, these are all hypothetical situations. A shaman on your team could easily riptide said team member back to reasonable health as well and Disc priest has penance. Both, of which, the first ticks are instant. And that is if and only if someone happens to be lurking about in the 15 seconds that you can't be shielded, presuming your shield wears off. Because we all know a backline shaman in not going to be purging another backline shaman's shield, right? It should way out of range.

Any half decent shaman does not only sit back and afk bot heal people in pugs atleast. This applies to premades aswell but not to the same extent but you need to read the situation to see when a push can be done to wipe the other team and therefore land important purges and shears. Also my riptides do 303 non crits and you cant rely on crits which even them wouldnt be enough to prevent an all in. So the priest shield is the only oh shit button except for a paladins lay on hands to rely on when someone quickly gets focused.

This particular conversation came into the forefront because someone claimed someone else had been shielding backline healers. Thus, I gave my viewpoints on why I thought it was fine for doing so. Apparently you missed that part of the conversation.

Correct, shamans are not meant to be back line healers. That is why they wear mail and have a shield.

ps: its not mail below lvl 40 the gear you use is leather and even the looms change over to leather, you learn something new everyday huh? :)
