Ah yes, that one makes me incredibly sad. ZG enchants have a req lvl of 25 now...

This was true up until last week. I noticed a low level wearing them on the PTR. Not sure if its in with BE fix.

So we go get legion artifact weapon, but have to enchant it before we add relics, so the meaning here is once relics are in we are stuck with that enchant? Should we wait on adding relics for a bit to see how enchants pan out?

this is more or less what they mean, yes.
But!.
You get artifact weapon, enchant, drop relics in, have ilvl 48 weapon.
Then, enchant meta changes for whatever reason. So you replace dungeon relics with quest relics (only give 1 ilvl) which drops artifact weapon back into enchantable range. Swap enchants, add dungeon relic.

Is the consensus to level current BFA 19's to 42-44ish to have epic riding for SL? Guess i can level a few of them now if that's the case.

I would say yes. The reason being that both 19s and 29s are being squished to way below 19 in SL, and unless you plan on NEVER PLAYING those characters again, your only choice is to level to 40 and grab riding while you still can.

Listen, I get it. It was hard to lvl my GF'd 39 to 42. It felt so wrong. But this isn't the time to let your sentiments get in the way. At this point in the development cycle, there is ZERO CHANCE the lvl squish is not happening...
What will make this is easier is to grp up with other 19s. Go unlock that XP and wreck some BGs while lvling up. You will all have a blast, and then you get to add yet another GF'd property to your beloved characters at 40. Unless you really and truly wish to retire those characters (which I can respect), this is what you must do.
This is the way.

I just did it on my 29s and 39s last week. As someone who ardently never leveled a twink with only one exception (74 to 79), it was really hard. But @DigitalChemyst is right, and the best service I can do for my grandfathered twinks and the twink community at large is to prepare for the inevitable squish. I leveled my 74 to 79 a couple of years ago because I believed Blizzard would never split the brackets like that again, and it was the right decision. This feels the same -- difficult, but right.

Leveled my gf’d 39 to 40 solely for the 100% riding being gf’d and knowing that my gear won’t be affected because level 39-40 both scale to 17. What I’m still deciding is whether to bring the character to 42 (18). will we gain any benefits at 18 other than newer spells, higher stats from armor, or just being closer to level 19? I guess it’s not too big of an issue because I can always level to 18 once SL comes out on the 17, but if there’s a reason to level him to 18 before SL (like another gf’d opportunity, then I might take it). Hoping to hear more in the coming days before I decide though!
I already made a 44 (19) twink that’s ready for SL. But I’m in a similar position with my Druid on deciding if 18 is even worth it.

I think I will level my 19 to 20 and make it f2p vet. The GF gear is far more likely to be usable/Bis in the future at 10 than level 19 as it will scale to level 9.
I am levelling a new char to 43 to get 100% mount speed. That will be my 19 twink.

yes. Worth noting that your 19 gear now would be usable at level 10- but from my testing on PTR- seems like the vast majority of the gear now won’t be BiS or very good at all come patch. Other than GFd enchants (12 agi cloak 13sp bracer) all of my old items such as AGM, enchanted LFH, other misc quest items are not very good at all. The BG crate items look really strong- but I’m assuming that even those will likely be replaced by socket gear.
I guess I’m at a point now where I have 3 options for my 19 (that has been 19 since 2007)
1. Leave it- it will be level 9. Basically a retired toon.
2. Level it to 20 now, keep it at level 10 come patch. Hope that a few of my items (shadow fang looks strong, maybe bg crate items) will be usable for level 10s. Will bgs even pop? If they will, 10 will be much weaker (most likely) compared to level 19.
3. level to 42 and get epic riding, which will be grandfathered for level 19s if we level now. If bgs pop- this will be a strong benefit. If they don’t, we would have more options for dungeons etc than we would at level 10.
what are people’s thoughts on the above? I obviously want to make the “right” decision but am unsure right now.

Honestly, for such a decorated 19, I'd retire it. Getting epic riding for a SL 19 before the prepatch lands is the only reason to level to 40 right now, and nothing is going to stay BiS from a level 19 toon. 29s and 39s have a couple of potential pieces e.g. deadman's hand and green whelp armor, but not 19s (to my knowledge).

While compelling, the more I think about this the more I think you should be careful in doing this
The 19 bracket will only get ques if the community is coordinated in putting them together. XP-off and XP-on ques are still separated and there is no reason to believe that will change. So you wont be getting casual games. You'll be getting organized games.
And over time, the 100% speed and 60% speed split will become a problem, as new members join the bracket without the GF'd mount speed, and you wont be able to not use 100%. Folks wont want to play at a disadvantage. It could very well be a thing that destroys 19s before they even get started.
I'd have a toon ready to go WITHOUT the mount speed if you plan on making 19s a long term thing.
All that said, your current 19 is sick. Dont level it. Trophy toon! None of that gear is viable at higher levels anyway. Reroll a new twink for the new era!

Absolutely this. That's why I'm all for a bunch of twinks getting grandfathered 100% mount speed. The more players that have it, the more likely Blizzard will fix it. To Chops' point, you can level a new toon to achieve this.
