Pino's f2p Archaeology Guide

Do you have a better internet source for that count than wowpedia (warcraft wikis are notoriously bad...), or is that just your in-game count from having looped through all artifacts on all three races?

I as well stopped at 46. I sitll have rares to go but no commons. You are counting some wrong :p the ONLY thing over 10g we can get is this oddly enough. We cannot get any of these things over 20 gold. I'm assuming that is because the 20g versions are the 275 or 300 arch version of commons so you aren't catching the 1g commons at later levels. That also makes those achieves not possible.

I guess it explains why my maxed-out DK couldn't see any digsites in Northend and only Hellfire Peninsula in Outland.
What? DKs can't farm in those areas? Well then my DK numbers will be off some as I just assumed for DK but for F2P I was positive

Yurp, every zone has its official level range which you can see on the map when you're in the zone. If your current level is outside that zone's official level range, you won't get dig sites there Odds of ever getting a Vrykul Drinking Helm on an F2P are thus sadly nil.

EDIT: Correction, you only have to go to the continent view on the map and mouse over the zones to see their level range. You don't have to be in the zone as I stated before.

I'm currently on a DK trying to farm the mount (rng HATES me, every single common fossil discovered and not ONE rare fossil). Skill 375 now and here's what I see...

No digsites in Northend available, all available digsites in Outland seem to be in Hellfire Peninsula (they're both orc and draenei so I guess it's fine). Hellfire Peninsula is 3 levels above my character level so it seems there's a bit of a leeway as far as level range is concerned.

Imprint of a Kraken Tentacle and Proto-Drake Skeleton are both listed as skill 300 artifacts on wowpedia but these two items didn't become available until skill 375 so that's one thing the list is wrong about.

Almost 99% sure commons don't repeat until you get all other commons however rares aren't guaranteed to drop before all the commons have sadly.

I can confirm that it is indeed possible to get repeats of common artifacts before you've completed the others; this has already happened for me at least 3 times.

how long does it take to make a DK and get to 375 arch? i'm very curious.

Is there any point keeping all these trashy grey items worth 1-10g? or should I just sell/delete them all, they bag-space killers

i say sell them. it's fun to look at your stats page and see that you've earned a whole pile of gold and never had more than 10g.
even if you are capped, the money you loot and the money you get from vendors counts towards the total in the stats and achieve pages.

After a LONG archeology mount grind that incidentally turned into a 10 rares achievement grind too I can safely say that the wowpedia list isn't fully accurate.

Imprint of a Kraken Tentacle and Proto-Drake Skeleton become available at skill 375 instead of 300.
Silver Kris of Korl, Spiked Gauntlets of Anvilrage and Warmaul of Burningeye are not available at all (definitely NOT a skill 1 requirement as wowpedia says), making Kings Under the Mountain and Blue Streak unobtainable even on a DK.

I didn't check Outland digsites so The Harder They Fall might still be possible to complete on a DK but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't.

Has anyone gotten Pterrordax yet?

Just out of curiosity, how are you determining whether something is available at 375 versus you just didn't happen to get it until 375?

tooltip is right. we need level 40 still. we can get the item, but cant use it. i deleted mine after i got it on a dk.

Well if you learn it on the dk ur hunter can use it. Ur hunter can't learn it if it loots it though.

The mount itself requires level 40 to use. If you get this on a DK, you can learn it, so it at least counts towards your total mounts acquired, but the 20 won't have the required level to ride it.
