So, after participating in the drama fest that was Lils public execution. It's led me to feel the need to post on the subject of double standards, and how they play out in this forum. To start, I'd like to say that I've used this website for the better part of 3 years, only joining after lurking for a year, feeling out the waters. For the most part, It's been a great asset, for myself and many players looking to further their knowledge on the subject of twinking. I've seen nerfs and buffs come and go, and I've swam through the seemingly endless QQ/Troll/Rage posts. The majority of which the Alliance is the subject, more specifically Alliance hunters, and the Alliance advantage. The all mighty eyepatch. This item, more than anything else, is steeped in resentment, and false assumptions. It is currently -okay- and has been since this brackets conception and the rise of the original AP community, to berate anyone who plays the opposite faction. Players who do play for blue team are considered at face value to be unskilled, their opinions invalid. The amount of hate we received when my original server began premading was staggering. When we lost it was said we were "terrible" and when we won it was because of our "skillpatch" Fast forward to today and not much has changed. The majority of the arguments brought up in the "please ban lil" thread boiled down to "shes an alliance hunter, so her opinion doesn't matter" Others posted examples where she wasn't particularly nice. Now, I'm not saying she's a saint. But let me ask you a question, what do you think drove her to speak and act in such a manner? I've watched as you guys continuously picked on and berated her, over the past 2 years, and that was considered OK. When all you see as an Alliance player combing over this website, this forum, Is nothing but venomous, abrasive, hateful comments aimed at YOU, it wears thin, pretty quickly. The most infuriating thing about the whole subject on the Allies eyepatch advantage, is the fact that Hordes advantages aren't even acknowledged. Your goblin pets and your totems, your amazing int buffs, your bis caster gear, your awesome racials, your near instant pops which has led to a massive influx of horde 24s looking for quick, easy games. Your typically diverse, random bg comps, which has set you up nicely as more and more classes are brought on par with the rest, lets not forget that horde can, and does play hunters. Which are OP even without an eyepatch. All that aside, when these people that you've been shitting on finally return your attitude, all of a sudden it's "wrong" and "uncalled" for. I am all for a healthy, thriving community, but there are issues here beyond a few posters. It's a mentality that needs to change, and it won't unless you start practicing what you preach. Respect is a 2 way street.
For those of you still convinced that eyepatches are really the most unfair imbalance in all of Azeroth, I'd like to point out that i personally witnessed Snowjobs and the BWL crew play circles around an eyepatch team, with the weakest classes/specs currently in game. Maybe you should ask them for a few tips instead of constantly whining and looking for excuses.
Edit: I'd like to point out that this isn't meant to defend Lil's negative posts, only to highlight where they came from, and the only thing I'm looking to provoke on this subject is thought.
