Official Reply to Vanilla Servers and Nostalrius

Billion dollar gaming company that struggles with pleasing their customers and quality control, something doesn't add up.

Maybe their just banking on addiction.

It's not as easy as some people are thinking, it's not, you have to think about aspects such as battle.net implementation. However, it's not at all as hard as they are making it out to be.

thats the thing. cut cut cut cut. put it raw version with no bnet / costumer service support.
those who wanna play it will pay x2 ez. no one force ppl in to playing it.

WoD might be a piece of poop compared to previous wow expansions, but it's not when compared to mmo alternatives.
While that may be true it's not a sustainable business model, how many subs does Blizz lose every time they hand their players a trashy Xpac? They could be doing more, their not because they want the easy, cost effective way of making money, and not the hard, quality way, which will pay off more in the longer run.

Vanilla = No BNet

Many things we take for granted today did not exist in Vanilla or in tBC or even WotLK or in Cata for that matter. The game has progressed a LOT in 10 years.

It is a little more complicated than you all are realizing.

Here's the thing about WoW expansions and WoW subs declining...

It's easy for us as pvpers to sit here and say "Oh look, they're simplifying the game, pruning abilities and removing more and more ways to outplay people. Of course the subs are falling." And likewise it's easy for a "hardcore" raider to say "Blizzard aren't releasing enough content! My guild cleared everything on mythic a year+ before the next expansion, and now all we can do is sell boosts... Of course people are unsubscribing!".

The thing that most people fail to realize that the average player is a casual who does neither high level pvp or pve. In other words the majority of the playerbase are terrible at the game and they don't give a shit about ability pruning or the amount of raid content. In fact some of these players are asking for more ability pruning and further nerfing of the pve content so they can experience it all.

Now, are a lot of the hardcore pvpers unsubscribing because of the dumbing down of the game? Are a lot of the "hardcore" pve players unsubscribing because of the lack of content? Yes. But that's such a small part of the huge drop in subs.

The game is getting old, and it can't keep being as popular as it was during WotLK 7 years ago.

Would releasing an awesome expansion with reversed ability pruning, no cd dispel, manual trap launcher, manual hunter's mark application, pet swapping in arena, stance dancing, sw:d on shadow school, disarms, arena teams, 15 different raids, etc., etc. temporarily increase subs and slow the decrease in subs? Probably. Slow it by much? Nope.

You are right. all that stuff is not even something I care about personally, I play this game very casually as my activities are almost entirely focused on things relating to the game, and not playing the game itself, I'm not coming at this from a PvE or PvP stand point, i'm a casual WoW player, I want there to be more people who play, and more content that everyone can enjoy.

I also don't believe that WoW is unsavable, it just requires the right mix of effort.

That's fair. But you must be calling WoD a trash expansion from the pov of either pve/pvp players, right? Surely from your own pov WoD wouldn't be a bad expansion?

Maybe it's savable in theory but not with the amount of resources blizzard/activision is currently giving it.

Their main obstacle is whether or not it's a good business decision to do it. The server part is easy, the hard part is how do they keep it clean and simple and monetize it, while not intruding on and promoting symbiosis with the business of Legion.

In terms of PvP I think a lot of people who are afraid of the changes don't like change and aren't willing to give it a try, in terms of PvE there's not enough content, regardless what I want most is more players playing the game. Something I really miss is world PvP. i'm not really a fan of Ashran.

No idea if this point has been made, but producing legacy servers because your community wants you to can be interpreted by shareholders as a lack of confidence in their current and future products. It might do blizzard more harm than good in the long run.

it's disappointing but damn

some of you are mad a f

blizz is a company they make their own decisions and you have to respect them, don't whine... move forward they already get enough shit as it is ROFL

guess it goes to show "you can't please everyone"

they said they are talking to them and about some 'pristine' server, perhaps we will see something after Legion comes out
Woah there, son. I'm not mad at all I don't even play private servers... Just found that the blizz employee's reply wasn't very nearly good enough for those who ARE mad

Maybe the share holders will catch wind of this and make something happen, if the paying customers can't.

Pretty crazy that someone would have to explain this, but Blizzard as a company has a brand to maintain. Part of their brand, whether some of their whiny customers realize it or not, is that they release highly polished games and expansions. It's simply not Blizzards style to do something as half-assed as you describe, and doing so would hurt their brand.
You literally don't play the same game we do. Blizzard has NEVER released a highly polished game, it's ALWAYS been half-assed.

Are you really...
Diablo 1, Hellfire, Warcraft 2, Warcraft 3, Starcraft, BW
How exacly are these games unpolished "half-assed" What are you even on about?

Diablo 2 still has a steady 25k online playerbase that are online during primetime
Warcraft 3 has around 10-15k~ Depending on region and if we're counting W3A + asian version of it..

Numbers are based on the asian servers,
Half assed right? : )
