New to the 20s Twinking First Try Need Some Help

Well unlikely many will use them or figure it out. Stam/Main stat have such a drastic higher value at max level due to multipliers. I debated on whether the +4 armor +6 stam gems are actually BiS too. Which technically they would be depending on spec.

Like +4 armor on my max level Druid is like going from 207 item level too 220 item level in armor value. So that gems = 13item lvls at max lvl in armor value. Then stam of course. With how popular Twinks are likely only a matter of time before some Max levels decide to use these as well. Since people see these gems all the time as they level in BGs and there are tons of threads in the BG forums about it.

Although max level players don't use a lot of brain power when it comes to builds and only read guides and don't explore other options. So maybe they will be safe from nerfs for awhile.

I been on and off, I took on a new max level project with a druid cause I had an itch. Then started farming again and my Spriest realistically is probably what I will play, have 16 days on Sub. I just don't think there is enough mastery gear in existence or items to get the build to work exactly how I want for my Prot Pal. Or it would take near perfect gear for it to work soooo.

I do plan on playing New World heavily when it comes out think that will just be a really fun experience then when my sub runs out i'll be on my Spriest. Yea that's a great point. That is how Divine Steed for Prot lost it's CC immunity because stupid Drainerx was playing Prot as a Healer in 3's in the AWC tourny and could just steed the teams set up. Most exciting tourny ever though and the fans loved it then they nerfed it, which makes no sense. Fun detected. Someone is doing something we don't want! Typical Blizz.

The 5 str 6 stam gem from heroic shattered halls. The timeless tanzanite from black morass heroic 5 int 6 stam and the steady talasite are the only untouched gems. Some of them were already nerfed earlier while some were nerfed during SL ptr.

Its an oversight, but the steady talasites does help even things out. FCs are gonna be very squishy when talasites go.

I sent you a friend request just now on Bnet. I have been playing mostly New World got 380 hours in there since launch (yea way too much) and haven't been doing much in WoW but had that itch to play and no sub so been on my Spriest for now as he is the most viable of my current Twinks. Maybe when I get tired of New World or the bugs I'll get back to farming for my Twinks again lol.

Looks like it'll be difficult to go beyond 41-42% mastery unless you get savant gear.

Hello there been awhile! Not sure if you been playing at all? With the reveal of WotLK and Dragonflight I got caught up in nostalgia and playing WoW again so I xfered my Prot Pal over to Bleedinghollow to have access to Twinking gear to make a solid attempt to finish a build. Might just xfer more off the dead Darkspear server.

With that said I'm excited and hopeful now because I managed to get 49.07% Mastery which is 60.28% Block

As of that picture I had six +1 Haste +1 Mastery gems. I know not ideal but the goal is to get the build mechanically working first by hitting breakpoints then change stats around. My Str is pretty low but I'll sacrifice Str to get all important secondary stat breakpoints. Ideally I'd like more Haste/Crit but I do feel the 15% Versa is a good spot.

I only have 1 Savant item but have a few good Mastery items so from here I think I'll look at trying to get maybe 1 or 2 BiS Savant pieces and play around with better gem options. Or other possible build options that can synergize with this type of build. Not sure if I want to go FULL Savant as Mastery makes Versa stat weight better so having Versa on a lot of pieces is good and another layer of mitigation.

Being able to hit 60% Block though is Yuuuge for the core build so now I'm excited again about working on this project. I was pretty bummed before but glad I took the leap to get to a Twink server to do some real testing.

Also Cons damage reduction is sitting at a beefy 22.1%

Yea I hear ya on that I just don't feel like joining the Hunter club and feel like it would be boring. I was playing my Spriest which is at least fun but I got to play outside Meta specs to really have joy.

Although 38 Kbs seems hilarious so I'm sure there is some fun in that.

I hope you are right! Super excited about the Talent system which is why I logged back in to play again. For now I'll keep cracking away at my non Meta builds to see how far I can push them or if I discover something interesting to make it perform really well. I'm optimistic though since I can get close to the Mastery sweet spot.

Maybe coming up soon I can test your Hunter vs my Prot to see what type of damage reduction I can get against your burst? Your Aim shot is your big attack right hitting 3k+? I'm hoping I can get to a point where I can block those type of attacks and reduce them down below 800 dmg so I'm not getting chunked.

I'm BM. I actually think MM is the weakest hunter spec. It's popular because big numbers. Survival and BM pump way harder. Anyways technically a good MM hunter could scatter shot you (so you can't block. Unless you can block scatter? lol) then aimed shot. Or trap into AS. I don't care though, it's all (probably) changing soon.

Yea people love the big numbers which is why I'm trying to mitigate them with Block and steal their joy lol. Soon as someone goes for a big attack and you block it/mitigate it too nothing they quickly become uninterested in attacking you again. Since they can just attack someone else and get big numbers.

(so you can't block. Unless you can block scatter? lol)

Hmmm reading Scatter shot tool tip and you can definitely block the damage however uncertain how it's coded these days. I'd assume you would still eat the CC. Uncertain.

I also was busy with other games and Life that I let it sit till the reveal of WotLK and Dragonflight. So now I resubbed and xfer off my dead server to actually acquire the gear and really attempt the build. My original enthusiasm was low because I didn't think I could get near the Mastery breakpoints but now knowing I can I'm excited to see what happens.

Well, for starters, Prot Pally is just unbelievable at 20. The absurd pulls you can make in dungeons & out in the world are just a joy. I don't PvP much with the Pally. Yea due to this thread I xfered from Darkspear to Bleeding. Might move more over before time's up not sure guess depends how time management goes. I also do want to play 2.4 ladder D2R on release so might just focus on this Pally.

Yea he has some interesting gear on thanks for the link and the trinkets look fun for open world. I did watch Cignus BoE green vendor pandaria video. I had a Mastery trinket from there that procs 20 crit but the uptime is really good. I just dropped it for the Str/Mastery since it has a gem. Likely Trinkets are best option to play with build some.

Yea I would of never discovered Mastery stacking if it wasn't for BFA since we had options to Mastery amps, sockets and so many sources. It was the best I've ever felt playing a spec in any content. So now I'm chasing that high hoping to mimic some of it again.

Look at that kit! That's so cool.. all that Mastery! How does it feel having only 5% haste though?
I've long pursued haste on all my toons, of every class, just for the 'feel' of it; even if it comes at a deficit to optimization.

I'll be sure to look out for you in BG's & see if I can crack the shell!
