New to the 20s Twinking First Try Need Some Help

Yea I know they are enchanting but do I have to level an enchanter or is there a vendor that sells the old ones? Just didn't want to invest in a long grind if I'm missing something simple :)

Well I did just score a Thundertotem band of Harmonius +16 mastery ring. No socket but my first big Mastery item. The Prot Pal is still nowhere close to the bare minimum I wanted for this test run. A Prot Pal with only 25% Mastery just isn't going to cut it. So I guess I'll likely be Queing with the Spriest since gearing was easy just stack intellect and dot stuff.

I have enjoyed the BoE farm though it's actually really exciting when you see a green drop. Also got a +7 Relic but guess they are worthless maybe I should list it on AH.
Nah you need to make 'em picking up enchanting on your farmer is a good idea for easy mats to sell. Chaos crystals are needed for some recipes aswell.
Theres more to find than just 1 ring. Relics are useless for everyone since they dont work anymore, vendor or de them.

I approve of this thread and love your idea, it’s a refreshing change to have someone new to the bracket that wants to think outside the box

Thanks! Yea got a whole new world to learn down here in this bracket but hopefully my mechanical knowledge will help me theorycraft a build I'm excited about. Mostly trying to figure out what is and is not possible with gearing and how to attain it.

Will be an interesting test run coming up then I will have to sub again and Farm for a full month this time.

Interesting. I definitely have a lot to learn on the profession front. Yea guess I won't have wizard oil this go around then and I will have to work on an enchanter next time.

So what I did for my warlock (who is eng + alchemy for the +12 main stat flask) is trade him hundreds of https://www.wowhead.com/item=20750/wizard-oil#taught-by-item from my main. Just get your main 275 enchanting, buy that recipe and make a ton. Maybe easier said then done given your time constraints :). Next time though. You can do the same thing with drums for lust. Have hundreds of drums in your bank before your sub expires.

Yea I'll have to do that next time. Sub ran out last night been enjoying some BGs on my Spriest. The Prot Pal has to wait he just doesn't have the gear for it to work and when I resub will be back to BoE grinding and at least will have a full month to do it and plan better knowing more.

I'll probably play around lil seeing the bracket then figure out exactly what I want to do with my Prot. The Spriest is an easy melt though and requires far easier gear.

I definitely feel like consumes are needed though, it's such a huge power boost. I saw a fury war last night with Bramble and 3 socket wep. Had 6k HP and was using a +12 str flask lol. Crazy.

The flask isnt a consum. Its an alchemists flask you can make with 300 classic alchemy, its very much permanent.

Dont underestimate versatility.

Yea I'd say it's good for most specs. It's not very good for Prot Pal though because it doesn't really do anything for them mechanically. I mean if I have a choice between Mastery or Versa it's gonna be Mastery hands down. Some Versa does help though and becomes a better stat if you achieve enough Mastery though. I'm usually running 10-12% Versa even at max level.

Just stats or sorta limited at this level so it be best to have Mastery in every slot although not sure what the Top end Mastery % would achieve yet on a Prot Pal.

You only gonna play pve?

No I am mostly a PvPer. Every build I make is for the end purpose of PvP. That is why I value Mastery :)

All this Prot Pal chat I think I might have to resub now and get back to farming Mastery BoE's when the server comes back up lol.

Haha, welcome to the Vet-life......

Haha Yes! Also might make plenty of gold farming as a Twink to pay for that sub here and there to build more Twinks.

I have a fun story that I think will explain a few things that is worth mentioning for the purpose of this thread. In BFA when I joined an RBG team to push some rating the Healer asked me how much Versa does my Prot Pal have? I responded 6% and told him that Versa isn't a very good stat and that I am running a full Mastery build. Well the Healer shreeked! A few grumbled slightly in discord and he said alright guess we shall see how this goes and laughed.

After 2 wins we finally get an FC map, the Healer said well guess we shall see what your build can do. We Qued into a Caster Cleave at 2200 MMR because of the win streak. A very popular comp because of how OP they were in BFA but a Mastery Prot Pal hard counters them. So after the dust settled we won, I was holding the flag with 12 stacks as we wiped their offense again and I set a healing record in RBGs.

Afterwards both teams were shocked, our team laughed and said remember when you criticized his Versa. The other team wisper me and my team because they never seen anything like it. They couldn't understand why I was nigh-immortal. I explained to them the mechanics of the build and after that the Mastery Prot Pal was born and started becoming popular.

Below is an Image of the event, you can see my weakaura stats right there. 6% Versa and 122% Mastery. It was high due to wings and seraphim being up increasing Mastery. Side effect was also a lot of dmg returned to them killing the casters as well.

I became good friends with the Healer that criticized me and we ended up doing Arena. I finished the Season as the #1 Prot Pal in North America in RBGs on Ally and #5 Overall and we Qued regularly against 2600MMR teams. It was the most fun I have had playing the game and miss it. So I was curious when I found out that Mastery now works at lvl 10 what could happen with a similar build for Prot Pal as a Twink. If it was possible to get enough.

Hopefully that explains a few things with a story and felt like qualifying myself some as I do fully understand the mechanics of Prot :)

Given the gearing limitations around stacking mastery, I'm very curious to see if you can make this work!

My initial impulse is to worry if you can get enough health to survive a CC chain that would negate your block long enough to burst you down. If you're at less than 4k health and eat a stun at the wrong time, at this level its over.

But hey man, I'd love to see anything compete with Rdruid for an FC spot, honestly. Seems like this has a decent shot at doing it. If nothing else, it'll be fun!

Yea that is the main concern so I'll see what I can do.

Yea the key is to get CCed in your Cons if possible as that is your back up mitigation. I did check in a BG and was over 4k HP without much gear so I don't think the HP will be in an issue especially with better BoE gear.

If nothing else, it'll be fun!

Yea always the goal in making a build, I love to tinker with stuff :)
