Since there isn't a guide on MOP Shaman, I decided to make one. Note that I might mess up with SOME things but I will try my best.

As of patch 5.05, Shamans are beginning to shine. Shamans are without a doubt, one of the best(if not THE best) support classes in this bracket. You have Purge, which is the only offensive dispel in this bracket and a nice interrupt.

For DPS, Elemental is really recommended because of superior damage and unlimited mana. Enhancement is really not recommended because currently they do absolutely crap damage as a DPS spec.

For healing, Resto shaman is in my opinion, the least boring healing classes right now. They have the highest skill cap and is a good class for players to play right now.

    Races

    Horde

    Troll

    Good choice for Horde.

Berserking is useful to all specs. The 20% haste is good when trying to burst down a enemy or when healing a FC.

Beast slaying is pretty useless in PvP unless trying to kill hunter pets.

Da Voodoo Shuffle is pretty useful considering the amount of snares in this bracket.

Regeneration is nothing to look down on. The extra health regeneration is useful nonetheless.

    Orc

    Good choice for Horde.

Axe specialization is useful to Enhancement shamans pre loom. Useless when you get double McGowan.

Blood fury is one of the things that shine about orcs. Extra spell power and attack power is needed when bursting down an enemy. Come on, 37 AP and some SP?

Hardiness shortens the duration of stuns. Haha lets make Paladins cry.

    Tauren

    Very good choice for Horde

Cultivation is good for leveling Alchemy and Herb. This will mean you can have 30 points in Herb with spade when you start.

Endurance is always useful to every class and every spec. Whats not to love about extra health?

Nature resistance is useful vs hunters, shamans, druids and rogues.

War stomp is one of the best things about choosing Tauren. An AoE stun can win you games if you use it effectively. Good for getting rogues off you when you are Fcing.

    Goblin

In my opinion, the best choice for Horde.

You have Rocket belt blast, which is useful in DPs.

Rocket jump is just awesome. You have a mobility increasing ability, which is perfect for escaping from rogues and FC jumps.

Time is money is a extra haste passive. Not a big difference but useful.

    Pandaren

Very good choice for both Factions.
Bouncy basically prevents you from dying if you get Tstormed off the edge at LM. What's to hate about a life saving ability?

Quaking palm is another interrupt. It could cross the line between life and death of a enemy. Unfortunately if can only be used at melee range so less useful to Ele and Resto.

Epicurean gives Panda's more health with the well fed buffs. So the 6 stam 6 spirit buffs give 12 stam and 6 spirit. That is a mini Rumsey Rum Black Label. To a lot of player's disappointment, it doesn't give Halaa whiskey nor rumsey rum double stam effects.

    Alliance

    Draenei

    Good choice for Alliance.

    Gemcutting
Allows the use of Heavy stone statue

Gift of the Naaru is a unpurgable HoT that heals 20% health over time. The extra healing is better than most people think it is.

Heroic presence allows easier hit cap.

Shadow resistance is useful vs the dreaded 24 spriests and warlocks.

    Dwarf

Best choice to FC as Alliance

Frost resistance is useful vs Frostmages.

Mace specialization is useful as Enhancement with double McGowan.

Stoneform is a awesome ability to use when Fcing and it removes rogue poisons.

    Re: F2P Shaman guide

    Important abilities

The Shaman class right now has some of the most useful abilities in this bracket right now.

    Purge

Removes a magical buff from an enemy.

The ONLY offensive dispel in the game. This ability can remove Priest bubbles, Healing over time spells, and even Arena grand master buff. Awesome ability to use against those Druids and Priests so they can't protect themselves while your team takes them out. This ability can also be used on your allies when they get mind controlled, removing mind control.

    Wind shear

Interrupts the enemy casting a spell and locks out that spell school for 4 seconds

Awesome ability used to CC healers. One Shaman could put a lot of pressure on a Healing priest by purging their bubbles and interrupting their heals.

    Purify spirit

Removes all Curse effects from a friendly player or yourself

If you spec Resto, this move can also remove magical debuffs such as Hammer of Justice and Denounce debuff. This ability can also remove fear from a friendly player. This also removes all warlock
DoTs. This is really a good move in supporting your team.

    Ghost wolf

Instant cast. Increases movement speed by 30%. Stacks with other speed buffs

The reason why Shamans make decent FC. This move also can be used to kite melee all day.

    Water shield

Gains mana over time and gains more when struck by a attack

You never go out of mana with this.

    Lightning Shield

Deals damage to attackers when you are hit.

Use this until you run out of mana then apply Water Shield. Very good for Ele shams because of Rolling Thunder

    Specialization abilities

    Thunderstorm

Blasts the enemy back 20 yards and deals damage

This ability is very useful in both Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin. In WSG, you can use this ability to blast an EFC back a few yards so they won't get to EFR as fast. When your FCis on roof and you are on defense, you can blast enemies off the roof, therefor slow their offense down.
If on offense and you have a hunter with a spider pet on your team and the EFC is on the roof, there is a strategy that works perfectly. Ask the hunter to web the EFC and you blast all of the healers off so your team can unleash at the EFC with full force.

    Can be used while stunned.

In Arathi basin, this ability could blast a huge amount of players off Lumber mill and they will fall to their deaths. Very fun and enjoyable thing to do.

This ability could also be used as an interrupt.

    Lava Lash

Your main form of damage from Enhancement. Sadly, it hits like a wet willie.

    Riptide

This ability is very useful. It heals for a decent amount, has a HoT and increases the target's maximum health by 10% due to Purification. Use this constantly on a FC because of more maximum health.

As you can see, Shamans have great utility.

Inherited Mark of Tyranny is also BIS.

    Professions

Start with Leather working and skinning and make 1 stack of medium armor for future use. Level enchanting and disenchant all the greens you made in leather working and then level mining and engineering for the helm. If you don't have any problems with a helm then level Alchemy and Herb for swiftness potion and int pots.

Good professions to keep as buffs are Mining, skinning and Herb. Also make sure to fill up your bank with Minor wizard oil if you are Elemental/Resto. The recipe can be brought from enchanting mat vendors.

If you need futher information, please check Pinch's Profession Guide.

    Fakecasting

Video on how to fake cast. Taken from Veinte's guide.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FlCKrtVK5g0

    1v1 Scenarios

Hunter: Pretty easy as elemental and resto. Heal and lightning bolt method. For enhancement, try and gap close using ghost wolf and although you won't stay on the hunter, you can deal some melee damage to them. If you just can't get close to them, just cast lightning bolt and ranged abilities until they die. Water shield should prevent you from running out of mana.

Warrior: For ele/resto, just kite them with ghost wolf and they eventually die. For enhancement, you won't do as much damage to them at melee range so I recommend you to kite them using earth shock.

Warlock: Dps them until they die and /lol at them when you cleanse their dots. Easy peasy.

Paladin: Hard one. Do not ever expect to beat a well geared Hpal. They just out heal all your damage using holy shock and WoG only. A ret paladin however, will never kill you but you probably won't kill him unless you are Elemental. As for Prot pallies, they do huge amounts of damage. You might beat a bad one as Ele. Just kite them and wind shear when they heal. They will run out of mana very quick.

Rogue: They shouldn't ever kill you as Resto and you should eventually DPS them down. For elemental, cast a thunderstorm and kite them until they die. Fighting them as enhancement is however, hard. If you are good at fake casting then you might beat one.

Priest: You won't kill a decent priest even with purge/windshear. Don't even expect to kill bad ones as Resto. I don't recommend to approach them.

Druid: Fights against druids are boring as hell. Don't waste your time with them.

Mage: Learn to fake cast and you will do fine. Mages don't do a lot of damage so you will eventually kill them.

    Re: F2P Shaman guide

    Talents

You have three choices as talents.

    Nature's Guardian

This talent isn't really recommended because it is less useful compared to Astral shift and Stone Bulwark Totem.

    Stone Bulwark Totem

This ability works like a priest bubble, but absorbs less and has a 1 minute cooldown. Pretty useful and is a good choice. The bad part is that you cannot use this ability while locked out or silenced as of Patch 5.1.

    Astral Shift

Some people think this ability as the best choice for all three specs. They have a point because this ability reduces a huge amount of damage for 6 seconds. Very useful for Fcing and eating damage. This, in my opinion is the best choice.

Macros by Veinte aka Youakim(funny name)

    Code:
    #showtooltip Wind Shear
    /stopcasting
    /cast [@target, nomod] Wind Shear
/cast [@focus, modifier: shift] Wind Shear

This casts wind shear at your main target with no modifier and casts wind shear at your focus target if you hold down shift. If you don't know how what a focus target is/how to set one up, just make a macro that looks like this:

    Code:
     /focus

A new target window will pop up that you can macro abilities to cast at, like I do with this next macro (playing resto):

    Code:
    #showtooltip Cleanse Spirit
/cast [@target, nomod, help] Cleanse Spirit
/cast [@player, modifier: shift] Cleanse Spirit
    /cast [@target, nomod, harm] Purge
    /cast [@focus, modifier: ctrl] Purge

Now what this does is it casts Purge at your target if you're targeting an enemy, and Cleanse Spirit (change it to Purify Spirit if playing resto) if you're targeting an ally. When you hold down shift, it will cast Cleanse Spirit at yourself and when you hold down control it will cast Purge at your focus target.

    Code:
    #showtooltip
    /cast !Ghost Wolf

If you hit this button more than once (unlike just casting the regular ability Ghost Wolf), you will not be toggled out of Ghost Wolf form. This macro prevents spamming Ghost Wolf trying to get away, hitting it one too many times and accidentally shifting back out.

    Code:
    #showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover, harm, nodead, exists][] Flame Shock

If your mouse is hovering over an enemy, hitting this button will cast Flame Shock at it without you having to target them, and also if you're not moused over anything it casts Flame Shock at your target. I like this because I can DoT rogues out of stealth without having to retarget people I'm purging/healing.

That's all I have right now, if I think of anymore I'll post them here too. People can also change the modifiers to whatever is comfortable for them; shift, alt, and ctrl are interchangable.

    Conclusion

Big thanks to Yde, Earl, Bigdip, Veinte, and Swoops with some parts to the guide. Any feedback to the guide is appreciated. I hope you enjoy the guide and I hope to meet you in the Gulch!
