0. All 840+ items can get up to 895.
1. All armor classes have 4 840+ armor slots with BoE.
2. Neck, Cloak, 2xRing, 1x (or 2x) Trinket 840+
3. 2 of the missing 4 armor slots can be filled with endquest gear from each zone which gives 800.
4. The 2 missing armor slots (and one trinket) can be filled with ~750 mythic draenor gear.
5. You have 6 relics which you will get through questing for your artifact weapon which can give up to +10 each for a maximum of 770 artifact weapon.
6. Keep an eye out for +Leech, +Speed and / or a socket on those 840+ items. The 3rd stat is free and doesn't cost item budget. (You can get up to and way beyond 200% run speed and stuff)
=> Maximum Average Item Level for 101 = 856 (if you only buy 895 gear which will be most unlikely) ... if you don't use a 2nd 895 trinket and not the 810 maces then it is 842.

When you're buying items, the value of having a socket varies depending on the slot. These are some rough estimates of "equivalent ilvls" using a BM hunter's stat weights where secondary stats are mostly equal to agility:

Head: 8-10
Neck: 22-25
Shoulder: 10-13
Back: 13-17
Chest: 8-10
Wrists: 13-17
Hands: 10-13
Waist: 10-13
Legs: 8-10
Feet: 10-13
Ring: 22-26
Trinket: 8-10

So if you have the choice between an ilvl 855 ring vs an ilvl 835 with socket, take the ring with a socket since it's equivalent to ~857-861 ilvl.

And for people who want to calculate things like this for themself, keep in mind that there are 3 type of categories:
Weak slots: Neck / Cloak / Wrists / Rings all with the same amount of stats.
Normal slots: Shoulders / Hands / Waist / Feet all with the same amount of stats.
Strong slots: Head / Chest / Legs all with the same amount of stats.
Trinkets are in a category of their own.

And always keep an eye on soft- or hardcaps for your class / spec 'cause at 101 you can hit most of them if you want to.

My two cents a money conscience standpoint is the enchants though. If you can't just blow through money, and have to choose between a slot I would value the neck piece higher then other slots because Mark of the Hidden Satyr is expensive but the DPS boost is amazing, especially combined with a six-feather fan. Yes you can already incinerate at a certain ilvl, but the more AoE the faster the AP farm will be in dungeons.

Mark of the Hidden Satyr was disappointingly low dps when I tested it on my 101 DK (less than 1% of my total damage). Maybe it's good as an Enhancement Shaman though since it scales with their mastery.

Good point, I forgot that other classes don't get there attack power converted to spell power like we do too, since it scales off of spell power as well.

The Int-Trinket is only good for burst. Would look for one with a socket (and maybe 3rd stat). If you are in need of burst.

The Str-Trinket is crap (Aelobin told me and I trust him.)

Get Chipped Soul Prism. It now drops at 720+, and I believe they increased the stats from it since 6.2.

How are we obtaining Valor at 101? And I'd still love to figure out some way to obtain Valor on my 99 to upgrade hers. I haven't seen any of the old the Weekly Bonus Event since 7.0 in our garrisons but if that's still a thing we can get 500 on certain weeks that way. At 101 we can no longer que for Random WoD Dungeon nor LFR so both of those options are out. Do we still get the 300 from the first Mythic Dungeon clear each week? If so that's 2400/wk possible there.

What I'm getting at is for Shoulders (certain Classes), Bracer, 2nd Trinket (certain Classes), Boots/Helm (certain Classes), etc, it would behoove us to run Mythic HFC weekly for the highest WF bonus roll we can get, then upgrade it 2/2 with Valor. My understanding is they can proc to at least 785, anyone seen higher?

Not sure about 99s or if there is a way, but as a 101 you can still do mythic 5 man dungeons and get 300 valor per dungeon. I tested this the other night. 785 is the cap according to the API

I've soloed 2 mythic and got 600 Valor Points. So, yes.

Maths on the strength trinket:
- The buff lasts 10 seconds and Wowhead says it has 0.85 procs per minute so 10/(60/0.85) = 14.2% uptime
- 850 version increases crit damage by 15.1%, so on average it increases crit damage by 14.2% * 15.1% = 2.14% crit damage
- Most 101 twinks have about 50% crit so the average gain per attack is 2.14% * 50% = 1.07% damage
- Crits deal double damage so the bonus is actually doubled again: 1.07% * 2 = 2.14% overall dps gain

Not worth it for any class other than strength users imo since the raw stats on a proper agi/int trinket would likely give you more than a 2% dps gain.
