I don’t want to be a naysayer, but seeing as I recently invested a fair amount into a mostly full leech set I thought I’d share.
Leech DR really starts falling off around 15% in open world and after 12% in BGs. After a short time of testing, I’ve found the sweet spot to be around 13% world/ 10% in BG for maximum tert stat rating benefit for leech, especially if you’re giving up another tert, like speed, which is more forgiving in terms of DR (see glances thread).
it also seems that leech ticks have a small ICD of sorts, which is extremely frustrating. For me, I typically do 400-800 moonfire ticks per average BG. However this only translates to about 50-80 leech ticks when I look into recount, meaning that the wide majority of my dots did not return the health I thought they were supposed to. In terms of total healing provided, it pales in comparison to the normal belt heal and is absolute dogshit compared to the belt heal if you use an alch stone.
all in all, leech for me was a fun experiment, however it falls short of what I thought it was going to do. It has an unforgiving DR threshold at 20, and doesn’t return health on 100% of my attacks as a dot class. It does not heal for any great amount in my experience to date and in my opinion farmers are way overpricing these items for the sake of the tert stat.
I might recommend leech if you play a class that attacks slowly or would have a high health return per hit (aimed shot, chaos bolt, etc)
