Give me your opinion: A WSG Today

Upswag

Legend
Let me set the scene. I zone into WSG. Our team? Cherrylite (hell yeah, great healer), Albinocow (I've heard good things), one 24 hunter (Deez? or something) one 24 boomkin Derpfire. Then I see the other team - 7 24s. Oh God. Okay, so we start playing. It's pretty tough, we start wiping all across mid. We push them back with our two 24s, but the hunter AFKs before he dies so his scroll doesn't fall off (lol).

Now we're in real trouble. We're keeping pace because Cherry and I are each at about 60k heals 12 minutes into the game but we're pushed back into our GY for most of the game. Derpfire and I stealth over to the EFC, manage to kill him and we're up a cap. 8 minutes left, we're back in the GY. We're trying to return, but it's not happening. There are 24s on D now, and I'm getting one shot. I'm at 90k now.

Albinocow gets feared into a glitch. I tell him we're trying to return but it's tough. He says "I got glitched, so they can't return." We say, okay, fair, that's fine, we'll get the return, and then it's even. Instead, he just drops the flag, and he lets it get returned. We're no where near cap, the only one who is is a 900 HP priest who picks up flag, promptly gets one shot by one of the 4 24s, and they cap, 1-1.

Our other 24 now AFK's. We proceed to get GY farmed the rest of the game.

---------

Now 1. I am pretty mad. To me, our FC took his desire to have a "quality' win over the desire of anyone else in the game, including both Cherry and I who SPAM healed through a shit ton of damage. It is not fun healing when your overall K/D ratio is 0-13 with 100k+ healing.

2. He didn't tell ANYONE that he was going to drop the flag. He just dropped it and let them return. If he had said anything at all about dropping it or given us a chance to pick up, I would have grabbed it and we could have had a reset at 1-0, and tried to get it across again. But no, again, he prioritized his interest in "winning fairly" over anyone else's interest and decided to just give us a loss.

3. He thinks everyone in this bracket will agree with his actions. So what do you think?

I know what I think. I'm done with 20s. I'm tired of facing uphill battles 24/7 only to get shit on by 20s over and over. Moreover, I realized from Albinocow's actions that I really care about 20s too much. I got super angry. Over a video game. Fuck that.

I'm going 24*. Enjoy the GY tinks. I'll be there. You can watch me stream your 0-15 K/D at my stream, as always!

sounds like your typical purist f2p who thinks they have to say/do things like that to fit in. my opinion is the guy needs a life beyond wow and he won't do shit like that :)

Oh never mind, I get it. Who knows, who cares.

He was the impetus for me playing smart, and for that, I thank him.

So much for Gandhi.

And Albinocow is looking for quality win's? Doesn't he actively play 20-24 p2p?

Given what he displayed of his IQ today, I wouldn't be surprised. And I plan to be the change I want in the world. I'm excited to end this bracket.

Albino is a classy guy. We were FCing against a team of mostly 24s, plenty of rogues, our team was never going to down the 4k hp-something efc. I wanted to go on top of the alliance resto hut with a mammoth glitch and he refused.

Albino understands, like many p2p's in this bracket who willingly set f2p restrictions on themselves. and like most people who play competitive sports in real life, that winning means nothing if you have an unfair advantage. What's the point of playing a competitive game if there's an asterisk by every win? You can never give yourself any credit with a clear conscience. No one else will give you any credit. It ruins the fun.

24s in this bracket are a different kind of fun. It's the same kind of fun people have in ganking lowbies in redridge. You have the right to do that if you want.

But because the majority of this bracket are forced to go by f2p 20 restrictions. you really aren't a part of the competitive aspect of this bracket if you're a p2p geared 20 or 24. You are just ganking lowbies for the fun of it, and if you win. that's no credit to you, that's just what was supposed to happen. If you lose, on the other hand...

To enjoy this bracket as an f2p 20 I think you have to believe in moral victories. When you're getting GY farmed it has to be an accomplishment to you just getting past them when you rez. It has to be a moral victory to you just making it across mid with the flag.

Albinocow is good people. Ethics above all else. Well done Albino!

Have fun at 24. It's not the level that counts it's the community. Obviously you don't belong.

I take it you didn't read the post? I specifically mention what he could have done if he felt so strongly about it. Being fair is one thing, giving away a game without giving your team a chance is another.

Also, that would have been a quality win, except Albinocow decided that no one else's input mattered. That's fine. I'm not looking for quality games. I'm looking to put the trash in the graveyard.

Yes, that is what I have learned. I no longer want to be a part of this "community."

I give Albino the benefit of the doubt here. He probably knew he would've died. If you were getting GY farmed/trying to go for the EFC I'm guessing there wasn't much D with Albino. Besides, it wasn't the end of the game that he dropped it. I assume he used the /unstuck option and tried to go for another cap.

Losing isn't that big of a deal, especially in this bracket. There are so many factors beyond your control that decide whether or not you win. You have to just be proud of your own achievements. You did a lot of healing and played objectively, that's all that matters.

But there's nothing to be proud of if you go 24. There's just the slapstick humor of ganking lowbies. If that's more your style, that's alright.

We survived up to that point with a 1-0 win.... I don't think this time was any different. And no, he just dropped it, everyone but him got pissed at him and he stood on tunnel roof for the rest of the game.

And no, I don't plan to put whether I win or not on some garbage 20s self-righteous opinion of himself and what he stands for. And yeah, I don't plan to be proud of playing my 24. I plan to make a lot of 20s angry. I don't really care for "quality wins." They don't exist at 90 much, I don't care if I find them in this bracket.

Idk man, you're making a lot of excuses for him, but none of them are predicated in reality...

We survived for 10 minutes the first time.

That's impressive. That's something you can be proud of whether or not you had won or lost.

That's alright. And I'm sure you will make a lot of people angry. One thing that helps is emoting, things like /spit and /rofl when you one shot a 20. You can also go the condescending route and do /ruffle or /hug or /wink.

Enjoy your time as a 24. If you want to come back to 20s for the challenge and the competitive aspect of this bracket we will be glad to have you back.

Edit: And I'm sorry you lost your game. You probably did deserve to win. But just like how you can't control who your teammates are or who you're facing, you can't control what they do with the flag either. And that has to be okay with you. You played your character well, that's all you can control.

There's nothing competitive about 20s. Don't kid yourself.

You remember how I was farming you that one game against you I had today? Imagine if you had a cap after ALL of that, and you were winning, and someone picked up the flag, waited for my team to get to our base and then dropped it in my face. That's basically what happened. Hell we can pretend that your teammate got glitched. He doesn't wait for you to get the flag and speed pot it across, he just drops it.

You're telling me you'd be proud of what you did and not care one whit that that happened?

Oh and multiply Derpfire and that 24 hunter times 3.

I don't remember getting farmed today but maybe you just hit me that hard.

Yeah. It's always frustrating to lose a close game. But if the other team greatly outmatches you you have the luxury of taking your loss with a grain of salt, and looking back and seeing that you did a lot better than you should have. 24s dont have that luxury. They either have to win, afk, or suffer an epic loss. f2ps either lose, afk, or they have an epic win.

You almost had an epic win and it's alright to be frustrated. You'll have more opportunities as long as you stay f2p.

Meh, we will have to agree to disagree. I see your point, and that's fine, but Albino's actions showed me what I personally thought about the bracket and I masked a lot of my true feelings with this ideal about 20s vs 24s. That's been stripped now, so I see no reason to not be 24. Especially when I consider that this bracket is not competitive in the least.

20-24 is just an active bracket. when i speak to guildies of mine or f2ps on alexstrasza i trying to explain this bracket is just for quick pops , u come home after school or work. You log on to chat with f2p friends / 20 p2p / 24 real ids, while your bging . I don't take this game serious or a bg serious for that matter. I dont care

Upswag whatever you decide on doing, just have fun

Yeah, if I play 20s I will end up taking it seriously! I don't get to really show how I feel about things in my profession so this is sort of my avenue of expression / somewhere to be somewhat emotional about things! If I roll a 24 I def won't care about this bracket. Good call Honeybadger! Hit me up on Real ID sometime too. We can do some of those 5 mans you like!
