Give me your opinion: A WSG Today

GG Kearbear, I new you intentionally dropped that flag cus your team was a bunch of farmers am and ETshaman were happy to see you
-- posted by Psysombia about the game we had agains kear the previous day.

I know that in this case the situation was the opposite, but the idea of morality is the same. As many have already mentioned we are all humans with free will, we only control our avatar and nothing else in the game.
Everyone has a different view of morality values and these views are definetly carried out into anything you do in life ( yes a video game)

Just like kearbear saw how unfair their team was being and the score was 1-1 she dropped the flag for us even in a situation were she knew she would die, just to show that she was mentally not-okay with the situation at hand.

I believe Albino has always been a great player and still is, he always sends a message with someone to tell me that we had a gg aganist their ap premade and such. In this case i totally respect his decision to do what he did, Justifying what he did as bad by saying that he could have passed it may have not even applied here, but the main reason for this to happen- as mentioned in the main post of this thread- was probably because he did not like the use of a glitch to cause the win.

All in all, we all need to develop a sense of morality i think, it definetly helps a lot in our later life with whatever we do. We need to be proud of the little we do and not so mad of what could have been done.

I know i get really passionate about games, since i usually start yelling at people in bg's for what they could do better, but its just a matter of the desire to do well, overall i hope you have fun at whatever you do.

don't think of f2ps as people, think of them as parasites that need a cure. after all anything that lives of that back of something else is just that.

be that antibiotic!

Craving for attention or a ban?
If you're targetting No. 2, keep going. Pun intended.

BTT: Being 24 is okay for certain classes and specs. Frosties become quite powerful. But plz don't roll a huntard, rogue or shadow.
You (thread starter) seem to be a competative guy that needs some challenge - rolling some fotm retardation speciality won't satisfy you for long.

I feel bad for you Upswag because it seems that everyone turned your post onto you :p

But I agree with what you're saying. I used to exploit a lot on my druid (see my sig) in WSG's. I would use "safe spots" and little glitches/shortcuts the most possible in order to win against 24s. However, I got lots of hate from it and many people gave me a hard time (specially from Albino /love).

This WHOLE topic of whether it is right to use exploits to win a BG (no matter the circumstance) is, well as you can see from all the previous replies, very controversial. The logic I had behind my "cheap" FCing was that by definition a twink takes all possible advantages in order to beat his opponent (gear, enchants, potions, scrolls, exploits). However, one can only exploit for so long before getting on people's nerves, and in return you start feeling bad about the matter itself.

Everyone has different views on exploiting in WSG, which is why this thread is very heated (and entertaining!).

I generally try not to speak in regards to situations where I wasn't there. I see Albino's motivation here, but I also see your point of the non-communication on his part; however, I wasn't there.

One thing I do know though is that I'll miss seeing you around. Having just recently met you and playing with you and the Ursinites has been fun and educational. You've been nothing but kind and inclusive to me. If you do go, I'll still throw you a highfive if I see you. You know my frustrations with the bracket. I just try and step back and keep in mind that it will always be a mixed bag. Peoples' skills will always be all over the map, unless you're pre-mading. People play in the bracket for all sorts of reasons. Some have lots of time to hone their skills and be the absolute best player they can be. Others just have some time here and there to have fun. I fall somewhere in the middle of that. I do make mistakes though. Others do too. When I get frustrated, it helps to step away and remind myself that battlegrounds are not the place to expect everyone to be near perfect. All I can do is try and do my best, learn from my mistakes, and keep it in perspective.

I wish you the best in all that you do. Thanks for the fun!

What do people refer to when they say AFK?
My understanding is that AFK stands for "Away From Keyboard". Meaning that they are <Away>.

Do you mean, leaving the battleground? Or actually being AFK?

Now wait a minute, wait a minute. This thread has almost nothing to do with whether or not it's right to use exploits to win. In fact I'm pretty sure no one even brought that up but you. It may be a personal hot topic for you, but I don't think it's right to turn this thread into a conversation about that.

No, this thread is about whether it's right to "turn heel" and start griefing the community at large because of one frustrating incident. It's not about what that incident was at all, and indeed as Broken has already pointed out, that incident really shouldn't even be discussed.

I think we've got a good conversation going here about what it means to have morality in the sense of being a part of a community. Let's not conflate this with an argument about the "morality" of some particular battleground tactic. Make a new thread for that please.

Read between the lines ;) say no to tunnel vision!

No offense but you're overreacting.

My best advice is to take a break from WoW for a few weeks instead of rolling a 24 to piss people off. I've played this bracket since 2012 and I've had my fair deal of upsetting games, even to the point I rolled a 24 rogue in Cataclysm to farm GY farmers and gank assholes who've pissed me off in the gulch, but I grew past that and realized it comes with the bracket. You're going to have disappointing games and people who put morals above winning. I have some morals in the game but I wouldn't let a glitch that was out of my control contribute to the match. Not at all.

I wouldn't agree with what Albinocow did, and I'd generally be pissed off. On the other hand though, I'd say your team got outplayed in various parts of the game, because you've mentioned your team getting graveyard farmed. Of course their team was mostly 24s and the 24s who farmed your team are asshats.

Just don't let it get to you, the other day I had a very close game that we ended up losing because a guy dropped the flag in front of an enemy 24 trying to show off, and didn't click the flag fast enough.

On the other hand this sounds like the typical super villain back story you'd see in a comic, "<Insert name here> ruined <Insert thing>, now I'll ruin everybody else's!"

Um that's exactly what I'm trying to tell you. You're keying in on one tiny side-plot because it appears to be important to you, and missing the larger picture that 90% of this conversation isn't about your topic.

imo albino is a great FC ..
don't get that mad bout a loss, you lose some you win some all that matters is you played to your best potential...
24s are so retarded especially now with enchants, scrolls but whatever makes you happy I guess.
Also you do what you gotta do to win, at all costs even terrain exploits.

There are STUPID people in our bracket you should of accepted this after playing in it for 2 years. Don't get heated about things like this, go lift weights, then come home and light up a bowl. Regular Cannabis and excersize is proven to increase your mental strength.

Also, about all of the hate coming to you, who cares, it is a game do what you have fun doing, I obviously think your a cool person no matter where your morals are at.

Well now come on, be fair. Most of the responses here have been in the vein of "you're a better person than this, here's all the reasons why you don't want to go down this road." I don't like seeing a genuine outpouring of concern being labeled as hatred. When people care enough to try to pull someone back from the edge of something, don't go making that person think his helpers hate him. Very counterproductive.

/sigh

It's ok, I guess you don't understand what Upswag is saying and how my post relates

All i see is a player got so upset over a game of wsg that they made an @thread to rage for a few pages. So upset that they felt the need to roll a 24 as a way to "get back" at someone? something? Not sure. Apparently OP has at least a few friends because if this was anyone else this thread would have been locked right away, and there wouldnt be an outpouring of "hey keep your chin up buddy" posts despite this being a tantrum of a thread. You win games, and you lose games. It's how you deal with it that speaks volumes. Not much else to say here.

This is why I only qued for arathi, people rage in instance chat on wg and now here? Nooooooo rofl haha

Interestingly, I don't know the OP. I just saw someone getting upset and vowing to take it out on me and you and all the other fine folks here, and I thought it would be prudent to both try to talk him down, and try to humanize his potential victims so that maybe he'll realize we're not faceless ones and zeroes across the Gulch from him.

Just seemed the decent human thing to do.

You and i both did the same thing, the only difference is our approach. Wasn't calling you out, specifically. I just don't think this was worth 6 pages of opinions. I feel like this is something every adult should know, granted not all wow players are adults. It's just the way you handle situations, that was the point i was trying to get across. Not start an intervention. I like you, Kincaide, you are nice, and its good to have nice people around, maybe i come off as hard, but it was never intended to sound mean.
