Rules and Stuff!

US & EU

How It Works

1.

REGISTER FOR THE TOURNEY. Figure out which characters you want entered into the tourney, and post their names in this thread. Or, you can send me a private message with the names. Registered characters will be listed here.

2.

Queue up as a single pug or as a team. Remember, the size of the team you face increases the amount of points you’ll get for the win, so setting up games will usually be the best option. Cheesetoast's opponent finder/premade nights thread would be the best place to look for opponents. For those of you who want random team matchups PM me and we can work something out.

3.

Then you'll need to take a screenshot at the start of the game, and the end result of the game.
TRY TO SNAP A SCREENSHOT RIGHT WHEN YOU ENTER THE GAME. This will help catch any /afkers!

4.

Lastly, in order for your points to be tallied you'll either need to:
 • post the scoreboards in this thread
 • send the screenshots to me in a private message

Scoring

Note: We do all the scoring for you.

You earn points as a team of players, but all of the points your team earns goes toward each player's individual score. ALL POINTS WILL BE AVERAGED BY THE NUMBER OF GAMES PLAYED to determine your final player score. There will be a MINIMUM REQUIREMENT depending on how many games are happening (we will set the minimum in a month from now, but probably 10-15 games).

CAPS

 • 10 per cap in winning games
 • 20 per cap in losing games

WINS

 • 2v2: +20 pts
 • 3v3: +30 pts
 • 4v4: +40 pts

etc. etc. all the way up to…

 • 10v10: + 100 pts

LOSSES

There are no negative points for losses, but they are counted in your points-per-game average.

OTHER STUFF

 • The scoring for uneven matches (2v3, 4v6 etc) are based off of your opponent's team size. If a 2 man team beat a 4 man team, they win 40 points. But if the 4 man team beats the 2 man team, they win 20 points.
 • If you win against a team that has more p2ps/24s than your team, you'll earn 10 bonus points for every extra p2p/24 the other team has. However if your team wins and has a p2p/24 advantage, we'll subtract -5 for the first one and -10 for each one after that. If you have so many 24s that you end up with zero or negative points for the win, then the game just won't count. Only team comps at the start of the game will be looked at when determining the p2p/24 advantage. If any of your pugmates /afk and are replaced by other players, they will be considered "wildcard" pugs. So be sure to take a screenshot of the full alliance/horde combined scoreboard right when you enter the BG.

Rules

 • minimum 2 registered players on each team
 • f2p restrictions on gear/enchants/level (f2p monks are allowed)
 • no 60 int buff
 • no glitches
 • max 3 per class
 • players will be allowed to combine scores between all their characters of the same faction
 • US & EU will be ranked together
 • this first season will last 2 months (Feb. 14 - April. 15)

Prizes

The top individual scores for the season will be given honorary titles and recorded in the F2P Tournament winners' section.

Top 3 Individual Scorers:
 • 1st - High Warlord, 2nd - General, 3rd - Champion (horde)
 • 1st - Grand Marshal, 2nd - Commander, 3rd - Knight-Captain (alliance)

* There will also be TCG prize(s) for the top individual scorer. The winner will be able to choose from any
1-2 items that they want ($35 total limit) – see WoW TCG Loot: Cheapest

Cheesetoast will convert his thread http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f43/competitive-games-go-realm-v-realm-sat-sun-55834/ into an Opponent Finder thread so that’s where you’ll want to go to set-up games. He will be keeping his Sat/Sun premade nights and so those would also be good times to get games in.

Other than that it's pretty much all up to you guys to set up games and send in the screenshots. Let's see how this goes B)

Ok so here's what I have to say. This tournament cannot and will not be perfect:

As organisers, we thought the pre-tournament thread would be a great way for people to add their insight into the "could-go-wrongs", the "Rules", the ranking system and how it would all fit into the the way we like to think about our BG's. The thing is, not every idea and opinion will work together, there are too many variables. Because of this, there will always be a large part of the community who feels unsatisfied with the the final decisions that are made. We can't make the perfect tourney and I'm sorry for that.

But we will try. The only way to fix mistakes is to experience them first-hand. So if you're having doubts about the tourney, just see this as a big ongoing experiment (with prizes). We want this to be fair as much as you do and the only way we might have a chance of reaching that goal is if you're behind us and participate. We want to see you play in competitive games, get better as teams, give each other constructive feedback, meet other f2p's interested in this competitive aspect along the road etc., etc.

This coming Friday the 14th the "official" rules (as of yet) will be released and the tourney will begin. It doesn't have to be too serious, but don't hold back in queueing with a friend or two as your team. The more people that participate, the more we will learn about how to improve. Good luck and see you on Friday

I thought minimum of two?

We'll see how 3 works out. This style is going to be more about random queueing and getting 3 of the same class will be too hard to avoid

If you're the only one who signs up you'll get the TCG prize Twinkenstein. Even if no games are played

the rules are too tedious and its just based too much on RNG of the pugs, the amount of time it will take to get into a game against someone, plus all that annoying point system tallying that no one cba to do, and having everyone who signs up do all this, the thread will be long buried.

We went as light on the rules as possible. Not a whole lot to remember, just the basics. Yes it's about pug RNG, but that's what this bracket is about.

We will have a thread set up for finding and scheduling opponents. Point tallying will be taken care of for you

All we need is a name and some screenshots B)

ur saying u have to count how many 24s 20s u have on ur side add and deduct points from them etc its way too confusing and no1 cba to do that. If it is a tournament based on RNG who is actually going to bother signing up? Tournaments arent just about prizes, it is supposed to be competitive and fun.

The only way to have a solid WSG tournament is 10v10s

That part is just to show people how we will tally the points once we get the screenshot. You don't have to do any counting. Just cap flags and win games

It's not all about RNG, just like this bracket isn't all RNG. You have some say in how the game turns out. Just like when you're pugging, if you have pugmates that can FC you go after the EFC, or viceversa. It's about adapting

But more than anything this tournament gives incentive for people to set up larger premades. Winning a 4v4 will help your average score better than winning a 2v2. So the hope is that this tourney gives a little extra reason for people to go and find people on other realms, count down "3..2..1" and join your queues when both teams get a WSG pop

Even small teams of people make games a lot more competitive

i honestly think ud have more luck doing either 10v10s with 20s, or lvl 19 white geared wargame wsg's

Maybe we can try that next. But we'll see how this goes first. It'll probably start slow and then it'll either die or maybe it'll start to catch on

Either way on April 15th 6 people will earn titles and 1 person will win some TCG loot

Sign me up for Eu

Alliance - Brokenbeast @ Twisting Nether - Community - World of Warcraft

Horde - Brokendemon @ Aggramar - Community - World of Warcraft

Is it possible to sign up with more than 1 character per faction? Couldn't find anything about how many characters a person is allowed to participate with, in the rules. :0

Sweeet. Got your characters posted B)

And yes you can have as many characters in the tourney as you want. You can also choose to have all your points added together over multiple characters, as long as they're the same faction

Wait how are you going to determine the number of 24s in the game from screenshots.
