F2P Mumble Channel / Voice Communication

Bump to get more peeople on mumble! :D

Also, recently I've seen people getting on mumble but just logging and staying in the Lobby. I am not sure if most people do it on purpose, but wanted to say it again, just in case.

When you first enter mumble, you go to the Lobby automatically. No one can hear what you say there. No one can talk, so you can't listen to them either. There are other channels that follow the same rules. The General chat- text only is... well, TEXT ONLY.

So you just have to double click and enter to the other channels or subchannels ( if you want to listen to others and talk to them).
If not, you could stay there... or close it, I guess lol

Yeah, i felt like talking about it in this thread... We need people to create mumble accounts. So the effort those people put to create "Our Server" could not be wasted.
I am going to post about this in the 10v10 premade thread. Now all i do need from you is this, you have to create a 10v10 Chat for Alliance and for horde. But , using this way, everyone will be given a code for that , or make it "Not Public" , so that only the people that are in can enter and leave.
Thanks.

As Heirneth said; you can create temporary private channels that would do this, just click the comment on the Private Rooms channel for info on how to, but I do think that it would be a lot better if people used the Battleground Premade channels though, although anyone can enter those.

If you think that randoms showing up to interrupt could be a problem though, then I could of course set a password on the Battleground Premade channels.

Yeah, i wouldn't like randoms to just come and check in. A good thing to do is changing the password for every week's premade.

Hey smoke, I'm glad to see that new people are taking interest in Mumble. :)

Do note though that due to the small user-base you won't be able to easily find people to chat with and I recommend you bringing over friends from your realm to join you. There are two General Chat channels but they sadly aren't very active so don't get your hopes up. You will find Mumble very useful though if you've got friends that you like playing together with and would like to actually talk to instead of just chat.

Got it downloaded, in it all day and didnt see anybody :(( need to get this think out there more. Wow is not about just pawning people but to be social so BUMP this

Agreed, it would be really nice with an active community on Mumble but it seems people don't like using voice-chat too much :/
Or they just prefer Skype for its simplicity.

I was on yesterday though and two other people were also there at the time.

Rhae and I use it a lot (with no problems c: ), but we haven't seen many people on :s :s

We tried to get some of our friends to use it but we always have trouble with mic settings. I am not sure if it's mumble doing that :s :s. We never have trouble while being on skype, but when we go to mumble we hear echo from other people, it's like their mics are getting the sound from their headphones, so it just ends up being really annoying, and we have no idea how to fix it. We've gone through all the audio settings, mic settings and.. it's just horrible to have that sound in the back while trying to talk >_<

For me I don't like skype just Bc the mic stay open . With wife , kids and tv playing I prefer push-to-talk

I know a guy who used to have this problem but was able to fix it by changing the Echo-option.

Tick the Advanced-checkbox in the bottom left of the Configuration-window, then go to the Audio Input-tab, and then try all the three different Echo-options.
That might very well solve your problem.

Another option would be to just use push-to-talk, you might still hear clutter in the background but at least only temporarily.

Are they using headphones?

As far as I know, yes.
We've had issues on mumble, then go to skype on the same day and they are magically fixed :(

That's because Skype does all the optimization for you instead of letting you tweak the settings yourself.
With the right Mumble-configuration you should be able to eliminate any issues like the one your friends are having though.

If you ever decide to try the fix that I named above, please let me know if it worked. I'm fairly sure it will.

Hi all, I'm Sarah. =) I am starting to try battlegrounds and thought it would be easier with voice chat instead of trying to read the instance chat in game. I'm connected to mumble and no one else is on. I'm violetress, and I have skype as well. I play both alliance and horde on Aerie Peak. I'd love to do some form of voice chat, even if it's just dungeons or general questing. On mumble, I did have trouble configuring the mic settings, but I think it's working now and I'd like to test it. How do you guys coordinate when people are going to be on and what you're doing? I tried asking in the f2ptwink addon channel but no one responded on either side. Would love to be part of this!

Hey there,

I'd say your best bet of finding people to chat with would be by bringing them over yourself.
So find people you like playing with in-game, and then introduce them to Mumble.

The current Mumble community is small and divided up into different realms so even if others come by they still probably wouldn't be from your realm.
Best of luck though, and feel free to post in this thread if you've got questions or need help with some configuration. :)
