F2P Addon

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

It's a good job I pre-purchased GW2. If I was getting it on the 28th, then nothing would be getting done to keep F2PAddon working until I'd played some GW2. Because I'll be playing it from the 25th though, you might get lucky and have a working addon by the end of the day on the 28th, provided it doesn't need a lot changing, and Bliz don't mess up, and I can get into WoW to test it.

That said there's still a possibility it won't be fixable, as Bliz still might want to kill off f2p twinking. I've got a few things that are ready for the next release though (*), and a few more that I might get completed by then (-):

1.2.9
* The addon now has a few options available via. [Escape] > Interface > Addons > F2PAddon.
* Slightly modified database structure, to allow more per realm+faction settings, for people who play on several realms.
* The database now stores the version of the addon that created it, allowing the addon to either wipe or modify the database when updated, depending on how big a difference there is between versions.
* Outgoing messages are no longer blocked by level filters, and the option to disable blocking incoming messages from low levels or 24s is in the config menu.
* Tidied up the code a little.
- Save the chat window that is displaying the channel, and save it to the DB, so that when the channel is changed, it still uses the same window. Make this setting available in the config menu.
- Update localisation to include new additions, and switch to simpler L.["phrase"] format which should be easier to maintain in the code.
- Complete f2pinfo code, allowing info on players that is stored in the database to be shown as a tooltip, when you mouseover their name in the chat.
- Add a command to f2pi to query whether or not a p2p is online who has their invite addon enabled and active.

Now they'll find me D:

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

I've got rid of a couple of errors, but there's still a lot more testing to do to make sure it's bug free. I don't have a paid account since I switched to GW2, so I can't test whether or not the invite code is working properly, except on the PTR, which works a little differently.

Donations made at F2PAddon - Chat & Communication - World of Warcraft Addons - Curse will encourage me to stop playing GW2 and put some work in on the addon ;)

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

do you think it can be fixed? right now only p2ps can talk

I hope it can be fixed, the addon makes or breaks f2p to me. I'm not gonna play unless there is some social component to it.

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

i wonder if GW2 will be the end of f2p as we know it?

i sure hope not :/

ether way blizz and GW2 seem to be working together to f&@k up my day -.- oh well ill just wait lol!

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

People have no patience for this getting fixed :/

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

I've uploaded F2PAddon 1.2.9 beta to curse, and it's just awaiting approval. It appears to work with MoP, but I can't test it fully, hence the 'b'.

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

Had to change the file from 'Beta' to 'Release' on curseforge.com, because it wasn't showing on the rest of the curse network sites.

It's still a beta, but at least now it should be possible to download it from sites other than the one used by addon developers.

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

I tried "inv" on my p2p and its not auto inviting, just sends a whisper

And getting a error trying to talk on p2p.

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

Just got a PM about the addon (please report bugs here, as I still read this thread regularly, and it keeps my inbox from filling up with duplicates).

Hey,I dont know if you will continue on working on this addon, since the important stuff works on the current version (chat ); but just in case I'll report 2 bugs I have noticed:

-The "inv" command only works on the first whisper to a p2p.If a second person whispers again, it doesnt autoinvite. It works again once the p2p is alone.

-It isnt autodeleting friends if it reaches the maximum and there people in the channel that isnt in your friend list (not 100% sure)

In any case, thanks for the addon.

I'll have to get another account's characters onto the PTR, so I can test bigger groups. There were some changes to the API regarding functions for groups, dungeons and PvP areas, that the invite addon has to check to make sure that P2Ps don't get kicked out of groups at bad times. I spotted a couple but there may be more. The only problem is the PTR doesn't treat F2P accounts the same as on the live servers, except for the level limit. Among other things they can invite and chat in channel, so I can't use the PTR to test the addon properly.

The deleting of friends issue happens because the addon can't remove characters from the friends list unless they also have an entry in the database. I forgot to have the addon purge the friends list when it did the same to the database with the new version, leaving the friends list full of entries that couldn't be removed. I've changed the addon so it just removes every friends list entry that's for an offline character, who doesn't have a note set. You won't have friends (without notes) in the list anymore while they're offline, but the addon will add them back as soon as they log back in and join the channel. Just remember to add notes for everyone who isn't in the channel, or they'll get tremoved when they go offline.

Expect 1.2.10b soon.

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

No go on having 3 chars on the PTR, it's throwing up errors when I try to copy characters there.

I'll try again tomorrow, but if I can't get enough characters there to test grouping, then the invite funtion is going to remain broken.

I've got enough accounts on AP, but I'm not paying for a month of WoW just to fix an addon.

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

1.2.10b uploaded to curse and awaiting approval.

1.2.10b
* 1.2.9 wiped the addon database, but not the friends list. As friends not in the database couldn't be removed by the addon (because it was checking them to find those who hadn't logged in in ages), this lead to the friends list being stuck full. Now the addon just wipes all offline friends who don't have notes set, whenever it needs to add someone and there isn't space.
* Attempted to fix issues with the invite functions that were caused by major changes to group/raid functions that came with MoP. These changes have been tested as far as possible on the PTR, but there may still be issues.
* Deleted a lot of unused code from the addon's files that was commented out.

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

If you need more people to test with, let us know what time. I would be very happy to assist you with this great addon! I'm sure others would too!

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

I haven't been online to notice any bugs, but is the change reported in the quote intentional or a bug?
Today when we grouped I had to w the p2p "lead" before "close" worked properly, but not sure if this is a known issue or not.

Anyway, thanks to Yasueh we can chat now again and balancing is looking much better, too!
Anyway, thank you very much far all the work you put into this amazing Addon. <3

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

*sign* Still don't have the addon. Not even chrome is working after I clicked download. Good thing is that I can still whisper to people on the addon but coud not see the people on the channel.

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

Not a bug but, if you search "f2paddon" in curse.com, it doesn't give any results. Dunno if you can add keyword, but adding it would come handy.
(it shows, alongside with other addons, if you search by "f2p addon" )

Re: Yasueh's Macros and Addons for F2P

You have to search for 'F2PAddon', because whatever search engine curse uses, it doesn't know how to ignore character case.

It's a lot easier to just click the big green link in the first post of this thread.
